these older reds were picco based. the older piccos had a very unique pinch that was quite low in the sleeve like you mentioned and it is also noticeable on the piston where the dull gray ring around it is a bit lower on the pistion compared to other engines. don’t know piccos reasoning behind this, but the engines ran great as long as they were broken in good and tuned right
Wow that reds head looks awesome bro very cool 🤜 I can buy bearings sets here for $40 (ceramic) it’s the first thing I do when I buy second hand motors, I no the nova bearings are more expensive than the other brands and harder to find , have just ordered 5 sets r bearings for my new motors , great video tasty!!!! 🤜 you always make your videos awesome 👏 I can’t get anyone to watch mine I think I’m done 🤜👍💯👋 keep up the good work bro
Thank you Tony! Ceramic bearings are about the same price here, I also have a stock of replacements bearings, i could have replaced the damaged rear... so cant complain, this is my fault I didnt notice that it was damaged andthe rust should have been a good enough reason to replace it..
Been waiting for a new vid man. Your videos remind me a lot of how I do mine and I love the tone of every one of your vids. Please never stop the content
Great vid bud I'm getting another Savage XL to go with my 4 other savages great paint job I've tried painting couple of times never goes well for me bud
That’s a shame about the bearing but, also not surprising. Other than that the engine looks to be in great shape. - I also agree the under head/head button design is really nice Thanks for another fun engine break down vid Tasty 💜
Thnak you, that was my firqt used engine! I should have replaced that rusty bearing even if it felt smooth .. i dont think that there will be a next time
Damn buddy that sucks. So it was the rear bearing. And you did feel that it was smooth. I never bought a used engine, but now i know for sure that if i do, i will replace all the bearings before i run it. Even if they feel good. Did i read the piston and sleeve are damaged? That really sucks buddy.
Yes really sucks.. my first and last used engine. The rear bearing was rusty but feeling smooth... I should have replaced it, the piston and sleeve are scratched now and thinking about it the scratches that you can see in the vid (piston and backplate) were caused by that rear bearing already. But still running good, well see how long it will last !
According to reds: Short needle > higher mid to top, long needle higher low to mid. I havent noticed that kind of difference in the power range but long low speed needle carbs are Usually easier to tune. Most people prefer long needles. I like both.
Picco Rebel all the way!!! The lrp is a very low quality engine, the rebel xl is great, high quality standards just as the p3TT. The lrp will make a bit more power at bottom end but the rebel has better top! Check my videos on both engines.
Honestly, i would never trust used engines, you can never truly know how the previous owner ran it, and most of the time they wont let you take it apart before you buy it. There are sadly many sellers who dont tell the truth when selling their engines because there is something wrong with it
@@TastyBRC man that is absolutely horrible, i know this is an old engie, but wouldn't the piston and sleeve from a reds 521 sport fit? Its a more refined and modernised version of the R5R. Also, im really sad your first experience with reds engies are this bad. Ive heard they are otherwise amazing but i guess you can never trust people selling things these says 😔 its a shame. I hope you can find a piston and sleeve that will fit. Keep up the great vids tho 👍
