The deciding game of the 1995 National League Championship Series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Atlanta Braves; NBC's Greg Gumbel and Joe Morgan have the call for The Baseball Network.
Seeing Marge Schott at the 2:25:35 mark after her team lost, I'm completely aghast that this woman wanted her manager, Davey Johnson to fired upon the season's conclusion (regardless of whether or not the Reds won the World Championship) simply because he was living in the same house with his girlfriend out of wedlock. I mean, knowing what we now know about Marge Schott and all of the abhorrent, ignorant, and despicable things that she said, Davey Johnson's living arrangements should've been the least of her troubles.
And that was the least of the issues Marge Schott faced, as UTree alluded to in his retrospective video on her life and career: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jL6mSziaGu0.html
Why did the Braves not try to keep Mike Deveraux after 1995? Or try to get him back in 1996? That could have neutralized Graeme Lloyd in the World Series, as he’d only have been able to face McGriff, since the Braves could have pinch-hit Deveraux for Klesko against Lloyd. In hindsight that would have been a good thing since Klesko looked like stale ass in his three at-bats against Lloyd. McGriff did too, but hey.
