Isn’t it ironic how Washington’s only playoff win since 1999 came with Joe Gibbs as head coach?

This Washington team was a real dark horse that season - I think they were actually good enough to get to the Super Bowl in a weak year for the NFC. If they'd managed to get past Seattle (which was a winnable game) I think we would have had a #6 seed vs another #6 seed in the Super Bowl.

Joe Gibbs is a fucking legend in two sports. He didn't have as much talent as he did in the past when he returned to the Redskins, but he got a lot of out of the group. Also, I forgot about that dropped pass in the endzone for the Bucs - really could have changed the outcome of the game.

As a Redskins (Commanders) fan, I get a little hope for the future of this team when I watch games like this one. But I am tired of having to go back and watch games of seasons past to stay inspired for this team, I hope the 2024 season will bring back some of the glory this team had with coach Gibbs.

This was the last wild card Saturday doubleheader abc broadcasted. NBC will get Sunday Night Football and ESPN will bring Monday night football. abc's nfl coverage ended after Super Bowl 40...well, maybe in these days abc broadcasts the ESPN's wild card game, but it's just not the same!

Had Randy Thomas not broken his leg against Dallas, that 2005 Redskins team had a shot to get to the Super Bowl. The offense really missed his pulling on running plays. Ray Brown, his replacement, was too old for the job. Oh, what could have been.

This was a potent and underrated Redskins defense. Lots of quality players, and well coached by Gregg Williams. Offense was mediocre.
