alltimerusher1 No problem and I completely agree with you on Romo. As a Redskins fan, even when it was 28-3, I was not the slightest bit comfortable with that lead and I was not the least bit surprised when Romo fired a perfect ball to Bryant on 4th down to make it 28-35 in the 4th. Aikman said it best, no matter how bad it seemed to go for the Cowboys, Romo always put them in a position to at the very least have a shot to win the game in the 4th quarter.
@@alltimerusher1 Sorry . Elite QB's do not go 2 - 4 in the playoffs over their career. It's all about the playoffs. Nobody cares if you win the regular season without signature playoff wins.
That TD pass to Moss at the end of the 1st half @58:35 was so special. On the move, drops a dime right on to Tana's hip pocket, who in turn makes a fantastic spinning catch with the toe tap to stay in bounds. I don't think that throw and catch got enough credit for how good they were
The offensive scheme that took over the league started with RG3 and Washington. The merging of the Shanahan west coast zone based and Baylors read option spread is a work of art that hasn’t been countered yet.
I live in the DMW and this was my first Redskins / Cowboys game in Dallas, had a wonderful time, 28-3 at halftime and me and a fellow fan in concession were hi-fiving each other, the people of Dallas showed up much love and we got the win
royalclass23548 Nope we've learned time and time that the browns is where NFL careers go to time. From kellen Winslow jr, to johnny Manzel, the browns will always ruin careers.
@stevmayse LMAO. You have no clue what youre talking about. He cant read defenses barely makes any read progressions, has a tendency to make bad first look throws into double and triple coverages, and hes made of glass. He was a flash in the pan and nothing more.
How long have you known Robert? I wish people would stop with that stupid erroneous statement-he can't read defenses after being in the league 5 years.! Where did you get those facts? I mean, hell, I can read defenses after studying enough film!!! This is not rocket science. Many of today's NFL short scripted pass "yardage leaders" make a living NOT making reads and instead, checking down instantly to the third read just to keep the chains moving. It is you, my friend, who doesnt have a clue and are just a non thinking parrot. Please tell me, what is so hard about a professional with all types of help and coaches learning how to read a basic NFL defense. I mean what are they doing on defense that is so impossible for some to ever get? And since you think you have a clue, you need to explain why that is so difficult. RG3 is not a freaking rookie just coming in from college anymore.
Stev Mayse - RG3 isn't even on an NFL roster. He's not good enough to be a backup on the Browns - _The Browns!_ But yeah, any minute now, he'll decide it's time to "dominate" lol.
Wow, really guy, will you not just stop with the RG3 hate. Don't you have anything better to do than to harass those of us who are rooting for him because WE chose to? Last time I checked we have a right to our own opinions. And by the way, I checked Wikipedia and I did not find your name as any kind of guru on anything AT ALL!!
If he had kept his head out of his butt and realized he was being coached by a legend, he could have been really good. He should have focused on his health instead of being sensitive about Cousins. Had he done that, maybe things could have been different. I was hoping for sure.
If. You can't separate these two factors... 1)his fragility, 2) his style of play. #1 was only ever going to be ticking time bomb, because it was #2 that made him great for that short time. I take no pleasure in stating that the naysayers at the time were absolutely right when they said "he's not going to last long".
RGIII, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson were as good as advertised as the next generation of QB’s their rookie year. Only one of them is worth anything anymore.
Its 2021; and IF Kyle is right, we're going to see this 2012 Redskins offense explode on the scene. Outside Zone run is SO good for play action because blocking sideways means you don't have to stop to avoid illegally blocking downfield; so defenders get sucked the wrong way for longer while QB and Pass targets are all moving opposite direction; the defense is in terrible position to stop a pass or even a QB run out of the boot. The Skins ONLY had the 16th best Off line in 2012, YET, a dominant rushing attack, Play Action, ALL because of the outside zone PLUS, optioning off a defender every play. RPOS didn't really exist yet in the NFL at least; it was Keep or Give.
Eh.. idk. Defense was kinda middle of the pack. We did however have a True qb1, rb1, & wr1 with a rookie burner to add to it. I'd say just those strong suits put the roster n @ least mediocreville lls
after watching this game again, i still have no idea why deangelo hall didn't just go into the end zone with the onside kick return. instead he slid at the 2. i guess just to be a bit nicer on thanksgiving?
27:20 # 11 Robinson gets a false start , the announcers start talking about him and say how he can fly when he runs, next play he runs a TD. That was cool ! He CAN fly!
This was an Awesome Game. RG 3 was the man too bad he got hurt after the playoff lost to Seahawks and he was never the same again after that :( :( The SKINS mess up not taking care of him :( GO SKINS 2020
I said on draft night that RG III would be ROY but by the end of their rookie contracts Cousins would be the starter and in 10 years Cousins would be an MVP candidate and RG III would be the subject of a "Where are they now?"
I see a lot of comments about RG3 and there doesn't seem to be all the information here so this is coming from a diehard Redskins fan: For starters RG3 shouldn't have been drafted by the Redskins and needed a more stable organization to develop. In defense of the Skins we got shafted by the league in with the bullshit salary cap penalty (John Mara helped decide the penalty, obviously more collusion then the accused offense) which was given AFTER they decided to give up so much for RG3. The lack luster roster now had less options after losing 36 million for FA and giving up a good chunk of the draft picks. The result was the perfect storm for a team lacking talent and placing the load on RG3's shoulders. With that said Kyle and Mike came up with a brilliant way to utilize Robert's talents and equalize the playing field by implementing the zone read scheme along with incorporating option plays, and giving Robert half reads and hot routes. The key to this strategy though is for RG to make sound decisions by throwing the ball away and sliding properly, two things HE NEVER LEARNED TO DO. It's been documented that Robert was hurt on all plays that had nothing to do with zone read and were a result of him running out of the pocket and not protecting himself. In the off season Robert demanded to be a pocket passer and stated at the time "show me a running QB and I will show you a loser". This was obviously before Russel W won the SB but the result was his declining career and Kyle and Mike getting run out of town. In the end neither the Skins or Robert were a good fit for one another and outside forces IE: the salary cap penalty and crappy ownership destroyed them both. I wish Robert the best but he was just as much at fault.
ddorma21 well said, its a two way street, both the skins and rg3 were at fault for having things end the way they did, im glad shanahan drafted cousins in case rg3 didnt work out , that was good future proofing
ddorma21 excellent breakdown. I think Rg erred in his assessment regarding running qbs lack of ultimate success. Staubach, Bradshaw and even Rothlesberger were very SUCCESSFUL while being mobile signal callers.
I'd gotten so drunk the night before that Thanksgiving Day with my now deceased best friend. I had such a hangover, but I enjoyed the hell out of this game.
Man, RG III was really good. The Redskins really fucked his career up in that playoff game against Seattle when he injured his knee, and they didn't pull him out of the game
MrBaddog7676 RG3 fucked his own career up by not knowing when to let a play die and/or slide.. He took way too many hits that he could have avoided. Not the Redskins fault. He suffered several concussions and knee injuries in College AND in the NFL.. He had talent, but he didnt have the brains to go with the talent.
Actually Rg3 was injured in the Ravens game... but you are Right Rg3 should of never been in the Seattle game... that was the start of the end of his career... Once RG3 could no longer run 🏃 his pocket passing along with reading defenses was is the reason he still isn't signed to this day...
Well, actually, thats not accurate. It is what we have heard-at least 1000 times plus! Actually, RG3 has regained all his speed and certainly enough to run and break away. BUT, people have told him to "get down" don't try and do it on your own, throw the ball away, stay in the pocket, etc. So, he is actually not yet playing to his instinct and to his highest developed skill level. He is like a Tom Brady being told to not stay in the pocket and run if no one is open. Brady is great behind a great line and in the pocket, but again he has been playing that way for 20 years about. RG3 can still do everything he did before, and he can read defenses along with the best of then at this point in his career, he just has to think a bit more to go against his inclinations-to get the first down and touchdowns, himself! Which he did a lot of rookie season. But, RG3 only needs a good to great offensive line (if you want him to dangle in the pocket) and TIME to develop the confidence and instinct of being highly successful in a new offense etc. If RG3 had been placed in the same situation as Dak Prescott, last year we would be having a completely different discussion here. RG3 has been with some bad teams-and for a QB trying to learn a new offense and gel with new receivers and lineman, thats a very tall order. In fact if he had three years in Cleveland he would be their starting QB and winning playoff games-I promise you.
Yuck! That 2011-2013 (the three straight 8-8 years) Dallas defense were some of the worst in franchise history and the 2013 season was the 4th worst defense in NFL HISTORY.
Damn, if only mike Shanahan had sat him for the season after the Ngata hit. Shanahan was so selfish and ignored doctors and what most ppl saw that RG3 was playing injured after that hit.
Actually Shanny wanted him to sit. RGIII went over his head and went to daniel snyder and cried. RGIII self destructed his own career with selfish plays and undermining his teamates and coaches. and as it turns out he has no morals. Im glad his career has fizzled out. he doesnt deserve to play this game.
IL3I Shanahan was the coach, he determines who plays. Of course RG3 wanted to play, he's a competitor of Course he wanted to play. It's the coaches job to monitor the player and to keep him from re-injuring himself.
Shanahan wasnt selfish... RG3 just had too much power. RG3 caused his own injuries by not sliding and trying to make a play out of nothing. The hit vs Falcons, the hit vs Ravens, etc.. I could name a ton of plays where RG3 couldve avoided big hits. And pretty much every hit he took seemed like a HUGE hit. And those hits continued with the Browns. Shanahan ran an offense based around his talents however, RG3's body wasnt built for that offense and even though he thrived, he took a beating at the same time.
Been thinking, any chance you've got 2010 week 2 Texans-Redskins and/or 2010 week 12 Panthers-Ravens? The first was a nail-biter, the second a blowout, but they were both a lot of fun! :)
Washington should Have went w these jerseys for the commanders. Just replace the Indian w a cool commander. And keep the feather. Although I have that collar thing most teams had this year.
Garcon, was a BEAST. we never shoulda let him go! damn we had a squad. too bad it ended like it did. bummer. Brandon Banks still available? I heard he went on to be the MVPof whatever league he moved on to... smh. shoulda kept both him and garcon. smdh
People that want Dak to run more, this why RG3s career was short, he got injured all the time from running! This was a depressing Thanksgiving for me!😂 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Cowboys 2020! This will be our year!
This was a very bad coached Redskins team, they started figuring how to use RG3, Kyle would have done a better job with him, but his dad was the idiot. Just imagine Cousins with a losing record made a lot more money than RG3. When the lier Gruden signed with the Redskins, he completely finished RG3, then tried to do the same thing with Haskins. HTTR
I don’t think you understand how hard it was to coach RG3. Dad and son didn’t even want him and they made it work by mid season. They had to abandon everything they’d been coaching in the past. You’re calling Mike an idiot? Dude has three super bowl rings.
