In this video I show how you can use a Zoom H5 digital audio recorder to reduce handling noise. I give 7 ways to mount the Zoom H5 portable recorder that help to prevent the transmission of handing noise through the body of the recorder to the built-in XY microphones. I have used all the methods and products mentioned in this video. When just recording audio at my desk, I mount the Zoom H5 recorder on a mini tripod. But when collecting sound effects in the field I also add the MOVO SMM5 shock mount (it's much cheaper than the Rycote version and works just as well). For video shoots, I like using the Zoom HS-1 hot shoe adapter or the MOVO SMM5 shock mount. If you already have a microphone stand with mic clip, the MA-2 Mic Stand Adapter is worth getting (although this can also double up as a hand grip). Finally, if you want to mount the H5 on a light stand, I would advise getting the SmallRig mini ball head. This will allow you to set the Zoom H5 at almost any angle, so that the XY mics can point at your sound source.
