There's all kinds of stuff going on in the reef tank now. A new GW-12 protein skimmer, making progress on my manifold, new Kamoer X2SR water changes, and the anthias are all doing well too! Lots of cyanobacteria has replaced the algae I had, but I think that'll resolve itself.

My Evansi anthias from OceanDevotion LA are doing great, though I lost one. I'm feeding them 4 or 5 times each day a variety of frozen foods and at the same time sprinkling in a few pellets to see if I can get them to eat pellets. So far they LOVE mysis, and so I think that's primarily what they're eating. They ARE eating though, and except for one all plump and doing great. I'm trying to give that thin one extra attention so that it recovers and does well. All the food going in has messed with my nutrient levels and the overall balance of the tank. I'm running GFO to remove phosphate from all this food, and it's done a great job - removing ALL the algae in the tank (including the chaetomorpha in my PaxBellum ARID!!). That has been replaced by Cyanobacteria. It is declining though after doing a bunch of water changes, and so I think the cyano will resolve itself. That red slime will go away!

The water changes are made much easier using a Kamoer X2SR automated water change pump. It's been running for just a little bit, but it wasn't bad to set up, calibrate, and balance the heads. Remember, 1ml of pure RODI water weighs 1 gram. Just calibrate pumps by weight, it's so much easier. Remember, the X2SR does not support 5ghz wifi - if your network is broadcast in both 2.4 and 5ghz just turn off the 5ghz when you're setting it up. That will save yourself so much trouble.

The Great White Skimmer by Dalua that I got is the GW-12, rated for up to 320 gallons. My reef tank is only 280/290 gallons total volume and so even though this skimmer is TINY it should do the job!

I bought the Red Dragon 3 Speedy Mini 50W (what a mouthful of a name!) to run my manifold. These pumps have been around forever, and seem to be well regarded for their stability over the years. Fingers crossed for another 7 years on these pumps!

I'm planning on buying a second Red Dragon pump, the Red Dragon 3 Speedy 100W HIGH PRESSURE model. This will be my new return pump. At the same time I'm going to work on making some improvements to the plumping of my aquarium - move the sump forward a little maybe, to make it easier to access. We'll see how much space my manifold, which is going in front of the sump, takes up.
