Reel of Tulloch Bagpipes played by an unknown piper
Very little reliable information is know as to the origin of Strathspeys and Reels, but they are known to have been danced towards the end of the 17th Century and Jacobite days. The Reel of Tulloch originated in the North East Village of Tulloch one winter morning long ago when the minister was late in arriving. The assembled congregation, waiting outside the church doors, stamped their feet and clapped their hands to keep warm and as someone began to whistle a Highland Air, some people started swinging by the arm and dancing their Reel steps.

Wow, that river in the 20s is beautiful. Great pic. And the trees right after, also! Now I have to go back and listen again, I was so enthralled by the scenery. :)

I always love the hell out of your music. I love the raw pipes, the shock-wave of goosebumps, the rush. I can't get my ears full enough of it.

MrTKeele I agree with you completely. I cannot get enough of listening to bagpipes during a thunderstorm.

StrathendrickPiper I'm pretty sure it's Roddy MacLeod, from track 11 of The Piping Centre Recital Series 1997 Volume 4. It's a joint album with Ian Duncan, and well worth a listen.

some pibroch variations most likely. Sounds like a grip with 3 grace notes played simultaneously beforehand, very hard.

Drew Kenyon Those are a crunluath (starts at 0:38) and a crunluath-a-mach (0:56). They are piobaireachd movements.

This is reel that was played by Scots Canadian Piper James Cleland Richardson during the battle of Regina Trench on 8th October 1916. The German forces had the upper hand and Richardson asked permission to play in a bid to rally the troops who were pinned down by withering German fire before the barbed wire. Jimmy marched up and down playing the reel and restoring morale while under fire from German machine guns. The Canadian troops rallied and eventually managed to storm the German defences and take the trench. He was detailed to assist the wounded and German prisoners back up the line. James disobeyed an order and returned to collect his bagpipes. He was here seen again. Private James Clelland Richardson died just a few weeks before his 21st birthday, he was awarded the Victoria Cross for valour in battle.

Yes; I've done all of these variations on my own initiative. And I could make them work, clean, good for entertaining average live audiences --but nowhere near the class of this piper. Those crunluaths are perfectly balanced for percussive impact. I can't believe the piper's identity can remain unknown, with such distinctive delivery of ornamentation.
