It is interesting how she says "lost a child" rather than saying she lost my brother. I often wondered if any of them rethought the trial.

That's a good question. Since their father was given unprecedented control over the proceedings, I wonder if any of them question his role in the actual kidnap plot.

I think it was an accident. Lindbergh was trying to get his son down the ladder and he dropped him and baby died from head injuries. He himself staged the kidnapping most likely.

I read a book years ago about him Can't remember the name of the book. The author said that Lindbergh was a notorious practical joker to the point that it drove his wife crazy. Anyways, he had the brilliant idea of playing a joke on her by going in through the boy's window and removing him from the room. The mother would go into the room, discover the boy missing and freak out. Lindbergh would then laugh hysterically. Unfortunately, when he was descending the ladder with his son in his arms, he dropped him to the ground killing him. Knowing that this would ruin his reputation, he staged the kidnapping. He let an innocent man go to his death so he could remain a hero.
@poetcomic1
@poetcomic1 2 года назад
@@stumarston6812 The damage from such a fall on the soft grass would not have been the same. The ladder is a prop and unusable for its purpose.Lindbergh's 'practical jokes' were sadistic, overboard and a room-mate of his in school almost died from poisoning. Ha ha.

Wtf?! He never spoke of his dead son? There is something not right here. He had no interest n keeping his sons memory alive. According Anne, she would cry about the baby and he never did not once. So I think this man who had so many secrets had a really big one. He got rid of the baby for whatever reason. Which is why he controlled the investigation. The more I read about him the more I believe that Hauptmann was framed.

If he was in Brazil, and looking for a dog to track and tree a jaguar, i wonder why he wouldn't just get a Fila Brasileiro locally. That's exactly what they were bred for - in Brazil!
@marysueeasteregg
@marysueeasteregg 2 года назад
My understanding from multiple written sources (I do NOT have personal experience with the breed) is that Filas have a unique and tricky temperament, and HAVE to be socialized during puppyhood to their owners/masters. Their aversion to strangers is extreme, instinctive and permanent, reportedly going beyond the normal suspiciousness many guarding breeds have toward strangers. Perhaps Scott wanted a dog with an easier temperament.

@@hazelwray4184 Jaguars are definitely capable of climbing. Whether one would ever flee a Fila by doing so, I do not know; a jaguar is going to get the better of *any* dog, even one as powerful as a Fila, which is what I assume you're getting at.

Let's not erase his name. Tell his whole story, as his daughter has apparently tried to do. This is America's story, good and bad: maintaining ties with Europe while attempting total conquest of North America; achieving technological greatness (and some social greatness, politically) with reckless disregard for the human cost, most of the time. Fundamental racism is the worst part of the story---but if we face up to that fact (and atone for it with those we have harmed) we can still become the Greatest Nation that we aspire to be.
