Apologies for the confusion, here's the formula to use: Hinge Bore Pattern minus Overlay = Predrill location. When ordering your cabinet doors, you have the option of choosing different hinge bore patterns (the distance from the bottom of the door to the center of where the hinge will go). While measuring, most commonly people will either measure for doors with a 1/2" or 1 1/4" overly style (the amount that the door overlaps the front of the cabinet box). So if you ordered doors with a 3" hinge bore pattern and used 1/2 overlay while measuring, you would measure 2 1/2" up from the bottom or top of the cabinet opening for the wine screws. I did not. Ours are a vinyl finish and hold up better if I don't paint them. However you could totally pain the inside of your cabinets, or I would even consider a contact paper or vinyl wrap of some kind! 👍

My cabinets were exactly the same. Just when sanding the cabinets be careful to not sand too deep. You just want to scruff the surface so that the primer can have good adhesion. Otherwise you should be good to go!

I custom built them from plywood, but you could also buy cabinets from your local home improvement store and just replace the doors to match 👍

Good question! The cabinets did not have the panel on the end of them. When I ordered my new doors for refacing, I just ordered an extra door and attached it to the side

@randomdiyguy regarding the cabinet side panels you added - my cabinets have a lip on the side from the front frame and looking at your before pics I believe yours did too. How did you install the side panels with that lip there? Sorry for the random question!

I had it custom matched to the cabinet doors samples. I used Sherwin Williams Pro classic line, but if I were to do it again, I'd use their emerald line 👍

Yes! They are actually a 3D laminate construction and they come in the color you choose. All you need to do is paint the cabinet boxes to match the doors 👍

If you're doing a basic refacing job, you'll mainly need a degreaser, sander, vacuum, primer, paint brush, paint roller, paint, drill, and mallet.

I would always recommend having it paint matched to your specific samples just to avoid any issues if colors have slightly changed over time

Great question, apoligies for the very delayed response haha. I am a for the most part a self taught DIYer. My grandpa taught me a few of the basics, then I took those, would research what I wanted to do and give it a try. I have made more mistakes than I can count (and many more to come), but each time I learn something new and build upon the knowledge I already have. I am now 23.

While I understand your confusion, this is what would be considered a DIYer homeowner refacing solution. You can obviously have someone come in completely reface your cabinets with new material and doors, however this is often outside of many peoples budgets. With this method anyone with some handy skills can get a whole new kitchen look at a much more affordable price. Also should mention that I don't make any affiliate money off my code, just simply a discount for the customer :)

Once again another douchebag who doesn't know what he's talking about. Refacing can be laminates or sanding and painting. It's the same thing genius. I do this for a living....
