That's too bad! I'm sorry to hear that. Fortunately, not all meetings go like this. I'm a special educator, and was appalled by the reluctance shown in this meeting. I hope you have had better experiences after that initial meeting!

Having a label of ED means nothing when it is not impacting Academics in the eye of the School Districts. What services can be given to this student that will provide Educational Benefit if he is already thriving academically?

I hear of many schools telling families "no academic impact" and showing them the door. :-(

@@lmcgonig thats the reason parents have rights to request IEE's. But I believe that schools do have the child's best interest at heart. A lot of the times parents don't feel listened to and are struggling so bad at home. Schools cannot deny that there might be ED, but if the student is thriving academically, unfortunately there are not a lot of things parents can really fight for. Perhaps counseling services but even then, it must be an academic need. At that point, perhaps speaking to health insurance and pediatricians is much more helpful. I admire these parents. Having a child with ED is not easy.

Neptune township schools in nj told my mom to get me mental health help and the school school should have threatened to call cps if she didnt sadly my sister in 2004 had to make up lies and starve herself to make my mother look like she did in in order for nj cps to get off of their lazy ass to realize my brother xander was home at almost 6 yrs old no education and 25 pounds and that i was under weight an in a 10 /12 clothing for kids i was weeks away from my 15th birthday Neptune township public school system in NJ needs to do a fuck of a lot better protecting kids and there was more abuse in the foster homes and the klg homes its like us kids are a damn burden to the cps system we never fucking asked to be born
