Yesss... bismuth... I did the same (cupelation with bismuth) with some gold scrap, went from 14K to slightly above 16K, probably more silver than other metals in alloy. Plan to do quartering with silver (also cleaned by cupelation) and do the parting with HNO3...

Now how do you separate the gold from the silver without acids?

Gold, silver, platinum, palladium etc. That’s what I’m interested in. No mercury.

There's a certain process that has to be done to separate silver from gold.

You are always educating everyone on the chemical transformation of metals. Thank you for sharing my friend! May you have a glorious Christmas with love, peace and prosperity!

Totally agree! I got tude from folks in the comments when I said something similar on one of his other videos. So, I’m just here to say - yeah, Jason really knows his stuff and takes time to share his knowledge with us all for free too!

@Paragliding Prospector I've learned alot from Jason and Dan Hurd. I actually saw Jason's mbmmllc link after watching some of Dan's videos. There are so many tips and techniques that go into recycling and mining!

Some time ago a relative of mine gave me some of her old, broken jewelry and I’ve been brainstorming ways to process it without spending more time and money refining it than it’s worth. I think the method you used in this vid will work perfect for a first step so thanks for posting this! This isn’t the first trick I’ve stolen from you, either. My Kaowool furnace and cone mold are holding up quite well and both work great. 😁 Thanks for everything and have a Merry Christmas!

You can precipitate the gold out with kits available on Ebay. Just need to be prepared to work with strong acids.
@TheGayestPersononYouTube
@TheGayestPersononYouTube Год назад
@@naughtiusmaximus830 I’m definitely well aware, but I appreciate the tip regardless! What I’ve got is a big mix of different stuff with what my test show is copper, iron, nickel, lead, zinc, silver and gold and it’s not worth my time to separate the jewelry into different runs based on what’s in them so melting the whole lot and cupeling at least some of the base metals out before I break out the jugs of acids (I think) will be the best way to go for me.

@@saulbernal2154 RU-vid deleted my last comment for whatever reason but I’ll try again with some added censorship. You can find it on “fleabay” or the site I personally use is rotometals. Or pepto bismol if you’re desperate 😆 Edit: lead works too and is cheaper. Just be wary of it’s toxicity and fumes.
@williamfoote2888
@williamfoote2888 Год назад
Or, realize that this is not a one time thing for the green hobbyist. This adds a layer of unnecessary complication. Inquartation and dilute HNO3 boils are your only way to high purity Au. You could ID the Au for karats. Then sell it on flea bay to somebody who knows what they’re doing. Heck. Contact Sreetips. He buys stuff like that.
@TheGayestPersononYouTube
@TheGayestPersononYouTube Год назад
@@williamfoote2888 oh definitely. I don’t expect to makes riches from this little endeavor and will only purify it to a certain point because I’m not really looking for 999 fine gold just wanted to do it for fun because I had the chemicals, etc. already and got the opportunity to try it out for myself at least once

Notice you added elements with the bismuth. That's why we use the pbo or reagent foil.

I did the cupelling process with some 14k gold and Alaskan gold nuggets. It went from 6grams to 1 gram of electrum. What could be possibly wrong?

@r.a.w.r.news.t.v.2 Год назад
That's really nice so it's 21 to 22 karat gold so the gold was missed a word mislabeled. Or you lost three carrots during the process but purifying the gold down to 90% gold 10% silver which if anyone knows anything about real gold the more pure to 100% it is it's flour or putty like. Henceforth the stories of manna from heaven with when the sun came up the Mana disappeared but the manner was actually always there the light frequency from the sunlight positively radiates through the monatomic elements Spectrum say Shifting the monatomic elements out of visual ability during daylight hours
