This was an awesome video! I adore the simplicity and legacy of the Model 10, and it truly doesn't get more classic than a deep bluing and wooden grips. Glad the Performance Center offers great (by the looks of it) re-bluing and polishing services. (Now if only S&W could make that internal lock on the new models optional. I don't care about the pinned barrels, nor do I mind non-recessed cylinders or MIM parts, but I hate the look of that internal lock hole and the minute possibility of malfunction. Surely including a regular cable style lock in the box if someone wants one, or at least giving me the option of ordering a new revolver without the internal lock, would be an acceptable compromise.)
SmithWessonCorp - Great video and an even better gun, that was awesome!!! From a marketing standpoint, the side lock (Hillary Hole) was intentionally not shown - which was no accident. Since you are doing the right thing and bring back these Classic line of revolvers, why isn't the side lock/Hillary Hole totally eliminated from every model especially when so many of your customers do not like or want it at all?!?!?
Last time I checked, about a year ago, S&W told me they weren't accepting any non-warranty work. However, Precision Bluing told me they do all of S & W's non-warranty work and you can send directly to them. There's about a year backlog, though.
Great Video! I'm not much for music in videos like this, but your choice of music was perfect. I only wish it was a longer video. Maybe you can make a start to finish restoration video showing in detail each step along the way.
Does doing this really kill the resell value? I recently found a Victory lend/lease in a barn! .38 there’s a bit of rust on the barrel so I was considering this .
I will never buy any revolver brand other than Smith & Wesson. I bought three Ruger Super Redhawk and before finalizing the paperwork I Had Each one returned every time because the craftsmanship was crap, very disappointed at Ruger, oh well that's their lost and Smith & Wesson's gain. As long as Smith & Wesson keeps this trend of quality up I will buy nothing but Smith & Wesson.
You are exactly right. The trigger pull on a new Ruger is like pulling a boat anchor and their quality control is horrible. The stories you read and hear are true. If Colt would pull their head out of their ass and bring back all the Snake guns (DA revolvers), Ruger would be in a desperate world of hurt and their sales would sink like the Titanic.
Currently, S&W's Revolver line is ABSOLUTE TRASH!!! They are making Revolvers in chamberings that aren't needed, wanted, or don't make sense to produce!!! Also, many of the barrels on these new Revolvers are canted and don't shoot point of aim/dead center. No one is going to spend a boat load of money on a poorly produced product. Colt got out of the business of producing Revolvers some years ago and now they're back!!! Colt is the Revolver King now. Colt's Revolvers may be expensive and hard to get but, when you can get your hands on one, you know that it's QUALITY!!!
What harm is there in having the clever lock system? Why does this offend? I appreciate the option of using it, but no one has to. I also like safeties on my autos.
Lee, a clever lock system? Obviously you are new to S&W handguns. Do yourself a favor and do some research. I personally had a lock “lock up” on me on my S&W 340 on duty. Never again. It’s either S&W pre-locks, or Ruger for me.
NorthwoodsShooter I removed my lock mechanism, and put a plug in its place from originalprecision.com. Problem solved.👍 Took only 20 minutes to get the stupid back out of it.
