I thought I was picky. They came out fantastic. I just ordered some original wood grips for my HandA .38 Safety Police. I'm refinishing like you did. Good tips

Came out pretty nice in my opinion. Gonna try and clean up and darken the grips on my Rock Island M206 and you gave me some ideas. Thinking of a red oak stain with a Tru Oil finish.

I got to this video for the exact same reason on the exact same revolver! How did your's turn out?

Thanks for the video. I have had fantastic results with a can of Ballistol. Spray the stocks or a wood presentation case and wipe dry. It is amazing how it makes wood grain pop. It can also hides scuffs and light scratches. It is also my favorite gun product. I buy mint guns all the time, but a one minute wipe down with Ballistop makes it look like new money. Makes me wonder why sellers don't bother to wipe their gun and stocks before selling.

Thanks for the video! Just bought my first revolver, a 1980s S&W Model 10 and the grips were pretty dirty.

They were beautiful before and after the refinish. Worn just looks cool, it’s telling a story. Wood grain can’t be improved on by man.

Some dents can be restored with the iron and cloth trick but when the wood is gone, there's not much you can do other than use wood putty which never matches anyway.

Nice job David 👍🏼 I bought a brand new stoeger coach gun about 5 months ago and didn’t like the cheap finish on it. I stripped it all down and stained the walnut timbers with walnut spirit based stain then applied boiled linseed oil and filled in the grain with 400g sand paper and finished with wax. It made it look like an expensive shotgun and am very pleased with the finish.

did the same with my mini14. Got to tell you it felt funny to take a brand new gun apart and strip the wood down right out of the box. Was very surprised how beautiful the grain was that you just could not see with that cheap factory finish

My guess is the grips were on a gun carried by a right handed cop (right grip banged up more than the other side). Carried in a holster, getting in and out of the cruiser all day, the grips bang against the door frame, as well as other things, and wind up looking like what you have.

I love the looks and feel of magnas on my model 28 but they are not the most comfortable when shooting .357 magnum. I can never change them though, as I’m a purist and they’re numbered to the gun. All my Smiths have magnas except for my 1985 686 wearing target stocks. Good job on your new grips!

More an exercise in photagraphy than stock refinishing, isn't this?

Not a stock there called grips

Smith&Wesson calls them stocks, not grips. He even says that in the video if you'd actually listen.
