We just bought a house in Tennessee and before moving in we are getting our 35 year old original hardwood floors refinished to a bright and modern white oak finish! We are ripping up the carpet and old wood flooring upstairs to install 2 1/4” wide select grade white oak wood planks to match with our refinished original hardwoods downstairs! HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!❤🏡☺ Our original hardwoods were in such good condition we just had to keep them BUT refinish them to a brighter white oak finish!! I hope this video gives you a better idea on what the process of refinishing original flooring looks like!

Your floors are gorgeous. I did somewhat similar three years ago with my 1988 one story contemporary home. What is so amazing with the white oak is that you can still buy the same and match 30, 40, or 50 years later and it never really goes out of style. Congrats on the new home!!

I prefer replicas - replicas of designs I like. When you look at the jaw-dropping greed of these luxury brands, coupled with their growing disdain for their customers, you see that their appalling behavior sets a terrible example for society. I would choose to buy imitation luxury goods at *condup* .

I have a 5 year old build with developer carpet in the bedrooms, just bought a “white oak” engineered floor to replace the carpets and love it. So glad you had the existing floor to work with!

The matte finish is great!! Never understood the super shiny wet looking hardwood that people in America usually go for. It's not a thing here in Scandinavia so it just looks bizarre to me I guess. Shine steals your attention!

I went with Natural Seal Matte on my oak floors, and I LOVE it. Looks almost identical to the raw wood. Great choice IMO!

Absolutely love the floors. I had my white oak floors sanded before I moved into my house 3 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. The wood vent covers I also did and it does elevate the over all look of the floor, seamless and a clean look. I get more compliments on them, if people can see them. I had floor electric outlets and I did them in brass. Love what you are doing. ❤

I love the floors! I have a house that is full of white oak, floors, doors, trim. It's beautiful but it's now orange from age. We also have inlayed carpet in the formal dining & living room which we want to remove & do hard wood through out. You are giving me ideas & making it seem less scary! Love the floors and the fact that you refinished the existing floors versus ripping it all out. We once lived in a 1928 home. The floors were in fairly good condition when we moved in. However, before we sold the home, I had the floors refinished long before we put the house on the market. I wanted to enjoy restored wood floors before we moved on. We actually slept in the basement bedroom during the refinishing job, with a window open and a heater to counteract the cold. In hindsight, yes, we should have moved to a hotel. I am enjoying seeing your house transform.

Hi Kristin 😊 I’ve always been a red oak fan. But one day I sanded the top of a table, leaving a neutral finish. Sealed it with a matte finish and fell in LOVE! Your floors look awesome! You won’t be disappointed with your decision ☺️

Yes the downstairs look like cabin grade and the upstairs is select. Cabin grade is more rustic but you are going to have rugs down which will cut the echo. The hand scraped upstairs was engineered and could be installed in in any direction but sold hardwood has to be installed opposite the joist in order to have something to nail into.
