You can see the peaks and troughs created by the wave reflections, you can also see that the waves were diffracted around the pier in the distance, the same thing occurs in light waves when there not busy being particles ;-)
There is a branch of Brane Cosmology that says the Universe could be two Cosmic M-Branes intersecting at right angles and what we observe as mass is amplified wave peaks in that 11 dimensional intersection. Well thats what I saw when I looked at it.. Oh, and it was pretty and some stuff like that :-)
