@@Financial_Revolution Thank you for the well wishes Mr Makki, I too wish you all the best going forward. As for becoming religious I don’t see that ever happening to me. I have watched many religious vs atheist debates on RU-vid and for some reason I have been persuaded by the atheist arguments. I was religious for 17 years. I don’t even know what it means to believe in God or Allah anymore if that makes sense? I can try to pray to God but it just feels like I’m speaking to myself. Scripture won’t influence me because I need some stronger evidence if that makes sense? I would like to believe in Allah but I don’t know how to and the atheists arguments have completely removed any religious beliefs I once had. And just because I have no religion does not mean I cannot enjoy the videos of this bright man 😊

Thank you Dr Shabir, I am from Afghanistan and I always hear your teaching, so much love from us to you and your channel, please show people the right way, all Muslims need a proper guidance, a person like you, a Muslim who knows all the truth about our den and it’s beauty to save others from suffering due to the misleading, believe it or not it is near that people turn their faces due to these injustice and people in the cloth of shayatin like taliban, I was kid and I remember how they were rude to the people and unkind. Still some people think they might not did this and that but actually they did all bad things to Afghans what ever you heard from in the past and now, they killed 1000s of people just by suicidal attacks just in common people all were innocent. As you said what was that fear for, it is because of those bad memories zulm, for Afghans they are like nightmares, they were hitting women and men on the streets. I remember everything, please bring some changes to the world of Muslims by your words, actually they are not Muslims but they are more slaves of political bonds between countries. And history is clear behind them. Afghanistan culture and people are more Islamic than other countries, it is very hard to hear when a jahil comes and says, you are not Muslim, and kills you for that. This is the reality of today’s world, Muslims are in a very bad position now, why because problems raised among us, by other religions and nations Muslims are used to kill other Muslims by making groups of extremist. However, words are a lot, but I appreciate the sense you have and for being a true Muslim.

I am not a Muslim, but I have subscribed, why?, because it is only through understanding that we ALL grow as Human beings and Dr Shabirs conversations resonate as a man of wisdom and insight, I have learned a lot, one of my good friends is also an Iman. in my Culture, I live in the UK, I see a lot of ignorance and hate aimed at Muslims, recently a crazy person shot some people with a Bow in Norway, because this murderous individual had a supposed link to a Mosque, all the hate started on Social Media, pumped up by the Media, which was very sad, to those people spewing hatred I pointed out that if they wanted to hate someone, then they could hate me, as I am an Archer and White, so had more in common with the guy they hated, this was appreciated by many Muslims, who thanked me, we are stronger together, I have never felt comfortable with Western Countries in Afghanistan or any of these Wars, would it not be better to send Religious Scholars and Teachers!

Al hamdulilah, very balanced view on Afghanistan, I'm was struck by the beautiful words of Ibn Qayyim Jawziyya, "when he we apply Islamic law we should see it's beauty and we if we don't see it's beauty then it's not the Shariah". I think that sums up not only the current situation in Afghanistan, but much of the Islamic world where attempts to implement Shariah have been made. Unfortunately, we see that women most often than not suffer the most and are deprived the most from these attempts to implement Shariah.

So we will follow Quran or Hadith if it sounds good to us. We actually don't care that what Allah ordered us to do. isn't it? We are human and we will have different opinions about some things. We can never agree about the legal actions. Some will say it's good where others won't. So Only the legal rule needs to come from the divine source (Allah SWT) which we Muslims are bound to obey. we don't know many things where Allah knows everything. Sometimes we think this is good for us but in reality, this is not. So Allah fulfils that with other things. This is Allah's judgement. Hijab is ugly for some western or moderate Muslims but for others it's beautiful. how will you judge that who is right?

Beauty and ugly are subjective ideas that are shaped by the degree of socialization and exposure to social media too in the modern age. What was beautiful in one age is no longer seen as beautiful today, similarly too is the reverse. Shuttlecock dress was beautiful then, seductive g-string is beautiful today but we cant go with g-strings, can we ? What is important is to hew close to Quranic teachings and authenticated traditions as is spiritually feasible in the contemporary age. These should serve as the bottomline, period !

I like it that he didn't gave verdict on Taliban is good or bad . He condemned old practice of Taliban and wished for reforms. Also many muslims do agree that after 300years early islamic period all the Classic interpretators lost their tracks. We don't have to reform Islam we have to reform our interpretations. No true verdict of Quran can do bad, if it's doing bad then it's not Quranic simple.

Not directly related to the topic, but the quote from Ibn Qayyim's book, "I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in" strikes me deep. I use my own acid test that any (claim of) "Islamic law" that I receive from any source should help individual or society to be more productive and happy (with productivity is loosely defined) or I'll put it in "park for later" bin, but law brings about beauty is higher league entirely. I have to admit that I tend to avoid writing of Ibn Qayyim al Jawzi or Ibn Taymiyya for reason many muslims are familiar with, but this quote by Dr. Shabir proves that I have missed great lessons and may fall into fanaticism that I have been trying to avoid. Democracy is the best answer. There is no way you could have an Islamic country.which islam? Wahhabi/salafi/sunni/hanafi/shafei/hanbali/shia? Moderate/extremest?voting?election? It doesn't workout. It is only gonna lead to destruction and bloodshed.
@huzaifahabdulwahab1499
@huzaifahabdulwahab1499 3 года назад
that is a complex question. how a country is run can be dictated by many factors. many of which is influenced by heterogeneity: population, history and monarchy, how the preceding constitution, government and parliament should function whether on the basis of democracy/dictatroship.etc. And there is also the issue of accredited consensus upon which quranic interpretation is applied to execute state law. Islam provides dynamism for many of these variables but it is also dependent on the accredited interpretation by consensus. Ijtihad role is vital. So to answer your question: there is no one modern model that fits all. in my own biased opinion, i do believe a huge classical block of classic laws can be applied to provide state order but should be regularly revised in time in terms of adaptation to new modern problems. Eg. Tunisia: modern concept with many islamic law revision (or so ive read). Malaysia: postcolonial westminister system with parliamentary democracy (muslim majority nation). Afghanistan (tribal dictatorship that could morph into democracy; constitution pending)

a few questions for Dr Shabir: 1) He said the Qur'an is vague. Is that one of the sifaat of Qur'aan, Allaah subHaanahu has described the Qur'an by? If not, from where did he reach the conclusion that the Qur'an is vague? 2) Do we really not know how to apply the commands of Qur'aan and how to interpret them from the seerah of the Prophet? His description is that his character was the Qur'aan. Did the Prophet salAllaahu alayhi wasallam stop women from working? Do we really not know of saHabiyaat that used to work? Did he stop women from going to the masjid? Did he stop women from seeking education? No, rather we have proofs for all these questions from the sunnah where these were not only allowed but we also have clear guidelines and instructions from him. He left behind saying Fear Allaah with regards to the women. 3) You have described that if you prevent evil in public, people will turn to it in private. What is wrong with that? Is that how things were not at the time of Prophet salAllaahu alayhi wasallam? People still committed sins but they knew it was a sin. They did not justify it.

The Quran does not provide direct answers to many aspects of contemporary issues that affect all Muslims today. For example, the Quran does not provide a clear ruling on the smoking of tobacco, permissibility of cloning of human cells, organ transplant, division of assets owned through various tenancy instruments, permissibility of life-insurance, etc etc. One has to apply "Ijtihad" based on Quranic verses to derive a ruling on these issues, and that itself is an ongoing process that differs / evolves according to geography and time. What is ruled as haram today may become halal 10 years later. What is halal in one country may be haram in another. This unending work is undertaken by the people who sit in Fatwah committees all around the world wherever there are Muslims. One cannot trivialise this work of ijtihad. Perhaps this is what Allah SWT intentionally desiged for humanity to apply reasoning.

I think the question of being for or against sharia law becomes irrelevant if we accept democracy as the method to create law. One can be inspired by the Quran or the Sunna and use this to propose law. If the people elect this person, he or she can go ahead and present the idea in parlement. If there is a majority for the idea, the proposed law becomes law. This way the people can get to choose the law applied on them and whether this is in accordance with the Quran or the Sunna, is the choice of the people.

In Qur’an Allah wants us to follow the way of the Prophet. We have an example of our Prophet saw and rightly guided Khulfa Rashidun to follow. There are no if and but in Islam. Allah wants us to implement his law, just like it is said in the prayer of Christians(..Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done...). The way has to be none other than but of Rasulallah s.a.w. Democracy is the biggest failure of human history. It is easy to manipulate the ill informed masses to win an election through propaganda. Millions have died in countless wars initiated by so called champions of democracy.

@@iamhusain94 Regarding following "the way of the prophet", off course everybody is free to do so if he or she feels this is the right thing to do. As long as this does not impact other people, I do not see any issues. The situation is totally different if you want to impose this on others without their approval. This would violate the rights of the other person none in the least his or her freedom of religion. Off course I do not agree if you call democracy the biggest failure. However I do think there are lots of things that can be improved. Improvements have to come from the people who make sure they are informed and get involved.

When USSR occupied Afghanistan, USA helped Afghanistan in various ways to remove occupier of their land which is a good thing and all Muslims all over the world were very very happy with USA. After USSR left, USA business was over. After vacating USSR by USA, same group which fought against USSR became more bolden and started engaging in activities not permitted under religion. USA was forced to be present in Afghanistan for security reason and purpose staying mostly in Kabul while taliban brigade were all roaming with assault rifles outside of Kabul. 20 years of presence of USA made Afghanistan people better of with many countries establishing business relationships and women force got recognition in various fields which they were not allowed in the name of Sharia. What Taliban is doing in the name of Sharia is all bull shit when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wife Khadija was doing business. The Taliban did not take over by surprise. Anyone who has followed this conflict, and I have since 2001, knew that it was just a matter of time before the Taliban would take over. First of all , the Taliban had already the majority of Afghanistan under their control for a least a couple of years. Only the major cities were not under their control. Also, most Afghans actually support the Taliban. Yes they are very strict and we can certainly question many things that they are doing in name of Islam, but they are not corrupt. The Afghan government was very corrupt. Moreover, most of the civilian deaths were caused by the Western forces. Also, the Westerns forces worked with militias that were active in drug trade and even rape and murder of young boys (watch the documentary "What winning looks like").
