I miss this holy and learned Priest! One of my favorites when he was on EWTN. Just like Venerable Solanus Casey, recently beatified (2017) I believe Fr. Benedict Groeschel will be elevated to the altars of sainthood one day. He exhibited such humility, simplicity, sanctity, wit, and he had a terrific sense of humor! May he rest in peace. Father Benedict, is one of the most learned men in both scripture and tradition of the church. Many Protestants, misinterpret the Bible, because they ignore, or are ignorant of church tradition. They fail to realize that the Bible itself came from the Catholic Church tradition,. It was only finalized completely, about 400 years after Christ died. Until then, the apostles and their ordained successors, had only church tradition upon which to rely. Which is exactly what Christ created, when he said : Matthew 16:18-19 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." In so doing , he gave authority to the church, to choose what was authentic scripture, and what was the true meaning of this scriptures. Protestant revisionists like yourself, do not have that authority of the Magisterium of the church ( the Pope and Bishops acting in concert, with the Holy Spirit). The authority to build this church , was clearly given to Peter, so that unerring teaching in matters of faith and morals, would be continued through the ages. One only need to look at the literally thousands of Protestant denominations, that all have different interpretations of scripture, to understand why Christ made Peter the central authority! When Protestants have a disagreement, they simply start a new church. How can their, and your ideas be trusted? What is your authority?
Greg Wodark any tradition that goes against Scripture should be done away with, even the so called Mary appearances. Biblically speaking Mary had sex after giving birth to Jesus, she is not queen of heaven, she is to be honoured and respected by believers for her obedience and acceptance of God’s will to be the mother of Christ. She didn’t have an immaculate conception (I AM NOT DENYING THE VIRGIN BIRTH) as she was a sinner like the rest of us, her conception was miraculous because she became pregnant in a supernatural way (the Holy Spirit). You Catholics (whether or not you want to accept this) venerate Mary to the point of idolizing her.

A saint if ever I knew one. I am a protestant thankfully raised Church of Ireland that grace alone gave me the beautiful blessing of the Holy sacrament we have Holy Communion every week in Church for that I am eternally grateful. I understand Fr Benedict when he states his anger at the protestant faith not having the Holy sacraments. I am blessed in that being born Irish as Church of Ireland does have Holy communion. Although we miss out on so many other blessings like the Rosary, our Holy mother of God many mysteries have been denied our religion many I do include in my own day to day Christian practice like the Rosary. I am grateful to Fr Benedict for the recognition that as protestant we have been denied much and as I say we cant help what faith we are born into. Catholics are so blessed. I give thanks to our Lord for the life of Fr Groeschel he is a saint in my eyes.

I wish to bear testimony to the great Work transcripted by Maria Valtorta. After starting to read the Notebooks I underwent a major inner conversion, took a vow of chastity as a married man and the Blessed Virgin has worked a true transformation in my life. As Jesus said to Valtorta, s8n will not bring souls to God, ever (because she kept wondering if the heard dictations and seen visions could have been from s8n). Valtorta suffered familiar persecution (her mother was against her religious devotion), miraculously survived illness and drastic poor health for decades and lived a holy, albeit secluded, life in union with the sufferings of Christ as a "victim soul". Her writings (she was actually hearing and seeing and strictly obeying to Divine inspiration to just write down everything, without the least personal interference or interpretation) are extremely inspiring and one can reliably hear Our Lord speak and preach, probably very much like He was doing almost two thousand years ago. Occasionally, Valtorta was warned not to question or improve anything, as had happened (!) in other cases of private revelation, such as, e.g. with Catherine Emmerich. So every time Valtorta heard the voice of Our Lord she would write just that: Jesus says... Now, interestingly enough, that one voice was indistinguishable for her from the voice of the GOD FATHER or Holy Spirit and many times while reading I got the impression, wait, this isn't Jesus, it must be His Heavenly Father, and bingo, some lines down so writes Valtorta. This shows how very intent she was not to add to or over-interpret what she had just heard, because she could easily at least have changed the introductory "Jesus says". Many many times she repeats how insignificant a person she is, with basically no formal knowledge of theology or particular biblical education.
Mother Teresa was a classic Christian mystic in our modern time. She took a vow within a vow , as a Missionary Sister of Our Lady of Loreto in 1942. She promised Christ " to give herself utterly and unreservedly to Him, and to refuse Him nothing." Starting on her train trip from Calcutta to Darjeeling in 1946, Mother Teresa experienced Jesus appearing before her, asking her to take one final step in serving Him. He continued to ask her to leave the security and familiarity of her order, and to go serve Him, in serving the poorest of the poor, the sick and the dying. Mother Teresa kept asking how she would be capable of doing this. Mother Teresa continued to experience two years of intense interior visions and locutions of Jesus Christ, as well as a profound union with Christ during the years, 1946 and 1947, which brought her to leave the safety and familiarity of The Sisters of Loreto . She left her comfortable habit for a rough sari and thong sandals; she left classroom teaching for caring for the destitute and dying on the streets of Calcutta. After beginning her apostolate of caring for the poorest of the poor , and starting the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, Mother Teresa ceased experiencing the visions and locutions of Jesus Christ, as well as her profound union with him, for the remainder of her life. She suffered what is referred to as the Dark Night of the Soul. the thirst of God in Divine Darkness. Nevertheless. she unflinchingly cared for and entered into the suffering and loneliness of those forgotten by all others, but Christ.
When she died the sisters displayed her without shoes Her feet were so deformed from walking, they wanted the world to see. She died almost t the day Princess Di was killed , which eclipsed her passing in the press India wanted to give her a full state funeral, like Ghandi. Her funeral was Epic.

St John of the Cross says in his introduction to "The Ascent" that he was writing "for two enclosed contemplatives". That makes a difference. A contemplative, by definition, is not to desire any tangible grace because that spiritual path is one of pure faith without anything less than pure faith. also to steer clear of deception that can happen when such "graces" are from evil to incite us to pride. St John says, therefore, not to desire any of them. St Paul says the opposite - ask for these gifts. St Thomas Aquinas in his introduction to these graces (which are the charisms of the Holy Spirit) that if you are a contemplative do not ask, and, if you are evangelizing then ask for them because such graces are needed to show others that they prove the word being preached is true. It depends on your mission in the Church. Aquinas writes on all the charismatic gifts (that were then called Gratuitous Graces) which in the Summa Theologica are each defined in lla llae Question171 -178. Jesus Himself needed signs and John records in John 20:31 "These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing this you may have life" Hence the importance in this era of the charismatic gifts in the Church as the people who are to evangelize in workplaces, offices, factories, to their neighbours , that the charisms abound. Mark 16:14-18 says that THOSE WHO BELIEVE the words of the apostles WILL WORK THESE SIGNS. Pope Francis preaching to priests from all over the world in St John the Lateran in Rome said he wanted charismatic meetings in every diocese, every parish, every neighbourhood" - this was because he saw what happened to Catholics when they experience the Spirit and are open to the charisms. Literally thousands returned to the catholic church after he asked Cantamalessa (papal preacher for 40 years and charismatic himself ) to come and start the movement in South America.

Father: St. Joan of Arc "was" delivered: her heart kept beating after her death; unfortunately it was thrown into the river by a soldier, thinking it was demonic. She is definitely with Jesus, and delivered. She was pure, and her deliverance was most likely not revealed directly to her to protect her, but when she was at death's door, Jesus did deliver her, to Him!

Also had an encounter with a jewish woman who gave me a rosary. Though having many rosaries I accepted it. I'm quite puzzled by this gesture whether there is some message in this🤔
Probably that's when the batteries died. Those pocket units always have the risk of batteries dying during Mass. It irked me when the homily would be interrupted at one parish I attended because the batteries had to be changed.
If the apparitions are not external why then are some approved visionaries asked to go to a certain place (e.g. St Bernadette to the grotto) in order for them to have their visions? What is the point of having specific places. Why did Juan Diego (Our Lady of Guadalupe) avoid a certain path in order that he wouldn't see the Lady because he was in a hurry, if his apparition was purely in his mind?
It's not that it's only on their minds, it refers that the ones that experience this private revelations are the only ones that have the privilege of seeing them (experiencing them fully). That’s why, they are often ask for an external miracle for the rest to see.

I am a bit confused. The father said that he was very wary in fact he flees from anyone who mistakenly think they have had a divine revelation and then gets famous because of that revelation. He then says the only ones that the church verifies are the ones when the person who has the revelation are anonymous at the time of their death. He then talks about at length about Mother Theresa who of course was one of the most famous people alive and was feted by the whole world and courted by athiestic politicians throughout the world and even spoke at the United nations and was said to be the most famous person alive by them . That’s true, most genuine seers wish not to be know and it only with the greatest Difficulties that they divulge their revelations. The ones seeking the Lime light are the most suspect. As far as I know Mother Teresa never claimed visions or voices to guide her. Her fame came from her example of life as most true saints would wish it to be.

But someone else at the BBC rediscovered the interview and aired it because the person who found it thought it was charming. The only thing that the world knew about Mother Teresa was that she helped the poor. It was only after her death that her letters with her Spiritual Directors were studied by those entrusted with examining the lives of anyone who is presented as a potential candidate for canonization. There are no reports of Mother Teresa telling anyone else about her spiritual expériences, she only confided to her Spiritual Directors. So yes, she became very famous, but only for the ordinary work she did in the world. Only long after her death was the public aware that Jesus had spoken to her. She didn't capitalize on what Jesus told her. That's the distinction.

We are all born of the seed of adam in the flesh and under the power of satan and cursed that all we are will go to the dust. God in His mercy sent His Son Christ to die for us so that His seed would be available for human beings to be regenerated into children of God. This is done solely by the operation of the Holy Spirit and nothing to do with sacraments or any such thing. We repent of living in the lusts of the flesh ( sacraments are lusts of the flesh ) and we ask Jesus to fill us with the Holy Spirit and then we obey the leading of the Spirit till our last breath. That is the ONLY way to the new heaven and new earth. Once regenerated we will all receive dreams and visions and guidance from Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That is how it always was and always is and will be. It is for all Christians not the few that a man made institution names and uses for its own purposes. That is How Peter and Paul and all the other Spirit filled people knew Christ and God the Holy Spirit operated through them. That is what being a Christian is.
The Bible asks two times, how do you show love towards God? One, love others as yourself. Which who does that? You buy yourself a prime rib, but comes to donations, you give a cheap piece of meat with gristle. Worse, pork. Then the second question is answered with obey the commandments. Which Jesus did and to the fullest. As he showed love, feeding everyone generously. Where he had no need to have a sitting church as people were already knowledgeable in Torah. So the great visionaries all suffered and had that dark night of the soul. Mother Teresa said her prayers went up to heaven and came down as daggers for 40+ years. But Helen Schucman's same suffering was that of the devil. Right. Not. Contradictions in A Course in Miracles are very difficult to find, (unlike the Bible,) but just like the Bible, when we meditate on answers to the contradictions, with faith that there must be an explanation, the Holy Spirit explains it to us. We understand past the "contradiction", and move on.
