A sharing in a humbling teaching experience: my sister is married into a family that is Protestant. The beginning was hard on her. She received comments like “one day you will see the truth” (as in Catholics are wrong)… I went to visit my sister often (I live in Canada and she lives in the States. When I would visit her I would always engage with her mother in law. My aim was in all humility and love to show her that we too believe in one God, we too believe in Jesus…I wanted her to see our common points rather than her seeing only a block of bricks because of our Catholicism. We had many good conversations, oh but when it came to Mary she was quite closed. I reminded her of a few Bible passages where we hear of Mary. I explained regarding intercessory prayer “do you not ask your family and loved ones to pray for you?” I would say. Because she would make it sound sinful to ask for intercession from anyone other than Christ. I tried with love to express my deep adoration of God and how these intercessory prayers are like Mary asking for the wine at Cana…I explained to her that us having statues and images and praying before them is like when we look at the r picture of a loved one. I told her about the hemorrhagic woman touching the cloak of Jesus and being healed and how we do not see our sacraméntale like lucky charms. But one time I remember I did say the words (something like) I can worship God and serve him without Mary. I likened her to the saints. I think I was so desperate for her to understand and I think something happened to me then. I feel like I went a year without our mother. I don’t think I was fully aware of it. I only became aware of it one day at mass, about a year after the fact. I believe it was a holy day for her and the sermon was about her and at the end of that mass I felt love for her again and such a sense of relief. Like having to hold your breath and then finally coming out for a breath! In my heart I said to myself, finally, I don’t have to live without her I can have a relationship with her and benefit from her love. I think all this to say…it is good and well to try and engage with all our brothers and sisters in faith…but let us make sure that we reflect the love we have for our mama. That is much more transformative and witnessing than what I did. I hope it helps someone if ever they need it to remember to keep her super close to your heart and never ever let go.

As a new Catholic, I like that he said that you could start a devotion just by doing multiple "Hail Marys" throughout the day instead of going straight for a daily rosary. I definitely plan to do a full rosary for lent. I didn't know how much my Catholic conversion would challenge my prayer life.

in 'the mystical city of God' by Mary of Agreda, she writes that satan was so enraged that he would serve her and she would be the vehicle of the hypostatic union he swore to persecute and destroy her "I will hurl from the position in which thou hast proposed to place her, and at my hands, the plan which thou settest up, shall come to naught" - we can see this in how the modern protestants (southern baptists) have this same loathing of the blessed mother. i have no doubt that the reformation and descent into the bland 'every man is his own church' nonsense is part of the devils plan to do what he claimed at the moment of his fall.

Well, I would like to add something I just discovered about two years ago: In Saragossa in Spain - at the time of St Apostle St. Jacobus it was called „Caesaraugusta“ - our Lady appeared to St Jacobus, the Apostle, as he was there to evangelize the town. He was very frustrated, so he wanted to stop and leave the territory of now Spain. So the holy Virgin appeared to him in the year 40!!! Before her assumption!! 7 years after the death and resurrection of her son!! On a Pilar! She inoculated him (St Jacobus) to continue as all of Spain will convert and from there the hole world will convert over the Pilar’s of Hercules! (Pilar’s of Hercules was at that time meant the end of the world as they knew it then). So, there is a huge Basilica and the only town with two Cathedrals! And that’s the reason for the name „Pilar“ of many Spanish speaking women! And they even have a dance specially for her! And they celebrate it for 10 days!!! Because they found that one day is not enough! So: the Marian devotion at least there started in the year 40 AD!

My Catholic friend once stated that “Protestants don’t know who Mary is because they don’t know who Jesus is…” they don’t know that Jesus is the perfect, unblemished Lamb of God that is totally without stain or sin and could only have a sinless humanity by being born of a sinless woman…the don’t have the same understanding of the perfect union between perfect God and PERFECT MAN that could only come about through our Immaculate Mother. Our Salvation comes about only through the sacrifice of the perfect, unblemished Lamb of God…Jesus the Messiah, anything less would not be acceptable to our Father in Heaven; an ordinary, sinful woman could never have accomplished this …

I was pro life since it's inception wrote papers on its illegality since the courts illegal ruling and then prayed to the virgin for all the children of limbo in spite of eclestiastical rhetoric and apparently the virgin whom does not answer to Ecclesiastics answered my prayer and roe was struck down this is a true story no matter what anyone says this was a private prayer said at every mass I attended for all children regardless of religion or not

What about the paintings of Our Lady by St. Luke? And St. Thomas? Mary was always pointing to herself when the Christians or even pagans needed heavenly assistance. In Mexico, as Our Lady of Guadalupe, she pointed to herself because Jesus was in her. That Image brought about the greatest conversion ever in the history of mankind. She knew it would. In Ecuador, as Our Lady of Good Success, she commanded that Sr. Mariana of Jesus Torres make a statue of Her and she gave the exact measurements. "Thus would this statue stimulate perpetual gratitude, special attentiveness in prayer, perfect obedience, a firm faith, a confident hope, and an ardent love for Mary Most Holy who thus offered herself to preside over and govern the convent.

I read, recently, that the olde English definition of “worship” simply meant “to declare worthy”. In the old Anglican marriage ceremony, spouses would say “with my body, I worship thee”. In fact, I heard that exact promise in an episode of Downton Abbey! This will form my response when we Catholics are accused of worshipping Our Lady by today’s definition. I read this in Matt Fradd’s book on consecration to Our Lady from a Thomistic view. Was an eye opener. “Don’t you Catholics worship Mary?” Yes….allow me to explain. Let’s start with the original definition of “worship”….😁🙏🏼

As a Catholic, and a convert, my reply to some distracting comments to this video is I accept the overall attributes Holy Mother Church has given to Our Blessed Mother, including but not limited to, Mary's praying for us, thus properly supposing the earliest Christians prayed for Her intercession. I believe in the elevation of the Church's doctrines and Sacred Traditions over even scholarly suppositions that challenge Holy Mother Church. To paraphrase a Protestant saying about their adherence to Bible Only - The Church says it and that settles it.

The rosary was used as punishment in my family. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It doesn't work well when you have bad memories of an angry ' head of household's angrily commanding who would lead what decade. It was very stressful. The covert obnoxious narcissist told me I didn't know how to pray. It was spiritual abuse. I have PTSD to this day from verbal games he played. So the rosary is difficult.

Good day, Father! I'm new to this channel. So, forgive me for asking a question that yiu may have answered before... I've been Catholic my whole life, grdauated from Catholic school from nursery, kinder to highschool but I had Christian friends in my post grad school that have points...they do see that our devotion to Mother Mary is too much that it looks like its superseding our worship of God/ idolatry. They said we can all pray directly to Jesus....it shows that God has favorites...even in the Bible, God favored the Israelites over all nations, He favors the saints and prayers are granted more via their intercession, it seems... I'm afraid of committing idolatry, the Christians accusations rinv true in light of the sheer Marian devotion...how can we know that the devil is not using Our Lady to commit idolatry? Please help me to see the TRUTH. Where did the Holy Catholic chruch get the knowledge that Mother Mary is crowned by God to be the Queen of Heaven and Earth as well as the Mediatrix when in the Bible Jesus said that HE is the only Way, the Truth and the Light. No one goea to the FATHER unless through HIM.

This history is disturbing. As a cradle catholic, I was taught to pray to Mary and the Father, not the Lord Jesus. It was evangelicals who had the relationship with Jesus. But, now I am learning that Mary is a stand in for the church itself. Disturbed by modernism, the church raised up Mary as the epitome of unquestioning obedience. To believe in her was to reject modernism and accept the church.

What about Our Lady of the Pillar which Our Lady, herself, set up in Spain while she was still alive? It is not a legend. It has been there since the time that St. James invoked her assistance and she was flown to the Iberian peninsula by the angels. The same pillar, the same statue. Besides that one, there are records that it was copied and statues were set up all over Spain.

You know that there is something very wrong from the get-go when Marian devotion is presented as something extrinsic to the Faith or that it was added after the time of the apostles.

Could Luther have bern saved bc he had a devotion to the Blessed Mother?
