So excited for this new chapter in your life Jenny!🎉 After reading your substack post about leaving Notion, I was surprised since I really want to join Notion, it’s a great product. And in that post you mentioned how you ran into Ivan in the gym, probably the same gym that I ran into you in May. We chatted about the channel, my career, how much you like putting on face masks in steam rooms 😂lol and you asked me want I want to do. Reading that Ivan asked the same thing to you, with your own words: “It's like running into your high school teacher at the mall or some other obscure location-a familiar face in an unfamiliar setting.” was exactly how I felt running into you. As a first gen immigrant myself in the US, I totally resonate with the feeling of hunger. You and this channel are an inspiration, and the older sister I never had. Keep us posted, and yes please make the video about the decision for leaving Notion and finding courage to build something from scratch. Eventually, I want to build my own company too and super curious how you navigate to this decision. Again big hugs and congrats 🎈
OMG YES - I was so happy to meet you (I still regularly use face masks in the steam room to this day 🤣). Thanks for the sweetest note. It means a lot and I'm so glad that the themes around hunger and first gen experiences resonated with you. Will definitely keep you posted 🫶
Ugh I relate so hard to your experience being year 3 at a startup that’s high growth ❤ so grateful and awesome to learn from someone like you who is a step ahead. Would love a video around what led you to leave 🙏
The view, like, subscriber counts of this channel while high are definitely still a lagging indicator of the extraordinary level of content quality. One of my favorite channels on YT, thank you for exploring many of the questions people our age struggle with (esp. with life after college) and giving a lens into your unique experiences.
I'm making a career transition at the moment and sometimes hear that "what if I had stayed" voice in the back of my head. Your ending reminded me of why I did that because I'm choosing to honour the brave me that's asking me to take the leap (and quit) because I wanted more for myself and I knew I deserve better. I wish you all the best Jenny, in this next part of your journey and I would love to connect with you and talk about our experience in this journey.
This is such a great watch. I’m currently transitioning to Product Management and Notion is one of the places I’d love to work so seeing Notion through the eyes of its people is definitely really helpful. Wishing you all the best ❤
Yes! Good luck a with everything. And great insights. I think health care has lots of growth and room for innovation. It’s great you’re making this career move while you’re young! It’s the best time to do so.
Would love to see a video on the factors that led you to leave Notion. I am currently also switching jobs, so that would be interesting to hear. Good luck on your new journey! 🍀
yay! so happy you guys are making videos again. i've been watching you guys since i was a student and now i'm working in my first job at a big company, and planning my transition to startups!
This came at such a good time as I'm transitioning post-grad! The points on first gen and immigrant financial mindset is something that is truly challenging for me right now. Keep us posted on your health tech journey please as that is my favorite type of content. Funny how it has come full circle to bring you partially back into health in a different way. Best of luck on all things ✨😄
Good luck! I'm excited to follow along with your endeavors in health tech! Your channel has been really helpful for me an my experience at an early stage tech startup.
Damn, definitely needed to hear this right now, especially looking inward. Curious to know more about what got you to leave, moreso on when is it appropriate to move on from something you've dedicated to. Thanks for this!
Thats super exciting! I cant wait to see where you go with this new path. What area of health care are you most interested in creating a business around?
Healthcare is probably the biggest industry we will have in the future, and it hasn’t always been fair to everyone. Wonder how you plan to do it differently as a minority in the space who didn’t grow up as financially well off as most.
