It's been six (!) months since I left my job after spending four years as an early employee at Notion. Here's a glimpse into my meandering thoughts on what it's actually like to quit your job without a backup plan. I share whether I have any regrets, what this adjustment period has been like for me, and a look into my headspace during pivotal moments in this journey so far.
For anyone on the brink of a huge life decision like leaving a job or changing career paths, I hope my story can serve as one data point as you consider yours 🫶

I resonate so much with this video! Love how you mapped out your mental journey. I'm currently in the wander phase (with some lingering presence of voyage) and am so glad to have found your channel because my brain can be all over the place during this confusing time. Watching this definitely makes me feel less alone!

Thank you for making this! I'm 8 months into a sabbatical and legit thought I would be in my new chapter by 6 months. You've articulated the emotional journey I've been on so well, even as living it felt like moving equal steps forward and backward everyday.

i totally get that lol. i've been thinking about this quote a lot (paraphrasing) people usually overestimate what they can accomplish in a year, and underestimate what they can in ten years. it's helped put things into perspective for me when things don't pan out how i expected them to. best of luck on your journey 🫶

i would love to afford to do this. i got laid off last year and the 1.5 months inbetween being laid off and then finding a new job were the best and most content i'd felt in YEARS. now i'm in a startup and i can't imagine feeling relaxed again.
