Starting the cosmetic restoration on the cheap CTS-V. A little paint and elbow grease and this car is already starting to come around. Mechanical issues continue to pop up but we'll tackle those as well! More to come!
Had a 2005. Totaled it at 178,000 miles (not my fault). Damn the luck, now I have to buy a 2010. Finally found a manual transmission in Massachusetts. Flew up and drove it back to Dallas. Finally sold it with 208,000 miles. Still redlining. No drag racing. Those were excellent cars. I never modified anything. Never replaced anything on either, which includes the clutches, other than the rear shocks twice on the 2010. They had a bad habit of leaking. Had the 2010 to 170. It was a one way concrete bridge across the water so only the fishermen below the bridge were at risk. I looked to buy a Gen 3 but could not get past the automatic transmission. I do not trust GM and automatic transmissions. They also take all the fun out of driving. I now drive a manual Z06/Z07. Found this one in Kansas, not far from Dorothy. The new CT5 Blackwing V will be tempting.
Incredible. Wish I had the level of knowledge, tools and time as you. Hopefully, one day I can get there. And thanks for taking us on this journey with the cheapest CTS V ✌🏾
Recently came across your channel bro when you first purchased the V keep up the good content! 💯 motivates me to fix some cosmetic work on my own car 👊🏼😎
Hey im new to your channel and i have to say i absolutely love that you do longer videos. We get so much progress in one vid!! Also, the time lapses are killer. Definitely one of my new favorite channels to watch. Keep up the great content!
I see a RU-vid career ahead of you my man! Just found your channel from the first CTS-V video and I can definitely say I’ll be tuning-in to your videos.
Just discovered this channel yesterday and was binging through the CTS vids and I'm lucky enough to get this video the next day. Heck yea. Stoked for the next vid & can't wait to see this thing when it's finished.
Hey Chris. Nice channel. I am from NH too. I have a better way to remove pine sap from the paint! use Hand sani gel. Type with alcohol. pump some on the sap, give it a min and wipe off with a terry cloth. Its much cleaner and easier and cheaper!
As a fellow owner of a CTS-V, check the clamp for the powersteering hoses by the rack. If the car was from the northern states the salt will have corroded under the clamp and compromised the hoses/lines. Sweet V! Nice work!
Don't know how I just now found you on you tube only a few days ago but I absolutely love all of your videos! I love how you don't just put out a string of short videos. You wait to get the whole video done mostly before you put it out. Keep up the great work I love it!!!
You’ve got the sweat equity in this car but it’s so cool! A bumpy cam Caddy is wild. I’m new to the Cadillac world. I scored an ‘06 STS4 with 31k miles back in June & loving it way more than my Mustang
Just came across your channel and this series a couple of days ago. Keep up the good work, earned a subscriber with the quality content you're putting out.
I’m living through Chris on this channel and I love love your passion you put into your cars and these videos… this video was well done can’t wait till the next one !
Damn it man…… is there anything you can’t do? Seriously a Jack of all trades. Loving the content. Keep up the great work brotha man. It’s more appreciated then you know.
Hey chris love your content its awesome how you stay on a car until its done. Very knowledgeable you deserve way more subscribers your gonna blow up man your videos are awesome. Im excited to see were you go from here.
Really been enjoying watching your youtube channel recently, you make it really entertaining and informative. Hope to see you get the recognition you deserve soon 🙏🏼
I remember the day this car debuted!! Is one of my all time favorite N/A cars of all time on the out side of the 90s impala ss.. these are the last of the real raw gm muscle car.. none of the new aged supercharged nonsense.. thank you for your content my brother you do such a great job!! Do u plan on selling this car??
(2) tips on deep cleaning a V which I do as yearly maintenance to keep water out. (1) blow out the rain channels from the sunroof down the A-pillars, use a rubber hose on your air nozzle with a cup or so of water. (2) on the bottom of the door weatherstripping lightly fold it back and clean the weatherstripping & weatherstripping/door interface, there are drain holes there which will clog. I then use silicone spray to keep all the rubber and engine bay looking new.
Just found you’re channel and I’m glad I did! The cars you buy & clean up are exactly what I want to see. Keep up the good work man, you’re channel is gonna blow up in no time!
Use a proper puller to take the pulley off the pump to get the line off the pump. The pulley is unobtainable and easy to warp. The new P/S line might be need a SAE crows foot to install on the rack, depending on where you got the line from.
Love your videos. I know nothing about videos or cameras or anything but I notice you have a lot of shots that are darkkkkkk. Is there settings you can adjust on your camera to fix that? You’re knowledge on this caddy resto is dope
Found your channel at work yesterday and now have watched one of your videos which is perfect timing cause now I have this one to watch! Love the builds and the hustle with flipping man! Keep it up💪🏼
A lot of people don’t know this but if u want to get the foggy yellow stuff off of ur headlights spray them with bug spray and then wipe it off with a paper towel
thinking more about the intermittent starting issue, i would look into the tune. when i bought my 04 V it already had heads and cam and was previously tuned, but not well. i had gotten in touch with my tuner and it was extremely lean which had led to a melted piston. just a thought, love the vids.
Cant wait to see what you come up with the emblems. Mine currently has decade old, faded cheapo Ebay specials which are ~70% the original size. The dealer sourced ones I have found years ago were ~$100+ each, which is hard to stomach. It kinda looks like you have the OE emblems with just missing color inlays. There used to be ppl out there that would just sell the inlays, i'd be interested if you could find those ppl.
The power steering pressure line is a fairly common failure. It's a fun one, that's for sure!🤣 Go ahead and order a new alternator. Did I miss the video where you worked on idle tuning?
New subscriber here, and with content like this I'm sure you'll hit 100k or more. Great work! Still jelly that you got this car for a song. Hopefully I can find one unloved under a tree like this one. What kind of paint gun do you use?
You should have been an archeologist Chris and restore ancient artifacts. Maybe you were in a previous life, because what you're doing now is beyond compare. Save the Wave 🙋♂
did you ever find out what the idle issue was and the knock in the back? been following this since the beginning, honestly has made me really impressed with the sound and look of a cts-v
Hey Chris, really dig your channel you do great detail work like I do, on another subject/ I have multiple sets of wheels for my GT500, what do you do about tires getting old and hard?? I talked to a dirt track buddy and he swears by spaying the tread down with stinky kerosene about 3 days to soften the tread. Any thoughts??? ...oB
Never had an issue power washing an engine bay. Stay away from air intake and do you best to not directly spray coils or other electronics. Use common sense and you'll be fine
