He even said “yeah, it’d be hard to scam a 14 year old out of money” and “let me know how to make it as hard as possible for you” a few mins in and they didn’t hear him at all. 😅😂

I've spoken to a lot of customer service reps with my ISP who have Indian accents. We have a pretty dense population of Indian folks here to begin with.

Yeah as touched on above it's not because they have anger issues likely, it's more likely it's part of their scamming procedure / script. By being angry at them you're putting the victim in an uncomfortable decision, making them more likely to abide by your orders. It's the same tactics used in interrogation. You make them feel so uncomfortable that your mind eventually values the release of tension higher than keeping your secret or in this case keeping your money.

Dylan Goins it’s only illegal to impersonate an officer if you try to wield the “impersonated” power in some way. Like if you actually attempt to arrest someone or defraud/harass/injure them in some way using the falsified identity. Otherwise no one would be able to dress as law enforcement for Halloween or play a cop in movies. It’s not illegal to just say “I’m a police officer” if you aren’t.

That's just how they are. I have a few customers at my workplace who absolutely don't know what a normal speaking voice is. They yell EVERYTHING, and argue points that aren't even in contention. You have to yell back at them to get them to understand that yes, we're on the same page, you don't have to keep explaining or asking. It's impossible for other coworkers to help other customers when those yelling people are there, no one can talk or hear over them.

If he made the site, he could have JavaScript continually update the document. It could be written so the scammer would need to disable JavaScript to make any edits stick and they wouldn't be smart enough to know they need to or learn how to disable it.

@@iarrcsim2323 I think the point is to make the scammer's life difficult, but not impossible. It wouldn't make for entertaining videos if the scammers just give up after failing repeatedly on the same thing for an hour, and you never get to see the aftermath (eg. fake-redeeming gift cards).

I love that people will scam the scammers. Like he has said before, every minute that he is on the phone with one of them is a minute that they will not be able to scam someone else. So thankful for the Apple employee that recognized your mom was being scammed.

Unfortunately scammers count on people's fear and ignorance. Unfortunately that makes the elderly a quicker target for these horrible situations. I worked at a bank where an older man was convinced that someone was going to give him tons of money. He had to send them a money order (guaranteed cash). I encountered him multiple times and tried so hard to educate him that it was a scam and he shouldn't buy into it. My bankers helped too but the man kept coming back to get money orders. Ignorance is not bliss! Be aware!

They have a million ways to scam now. The other day someone called me and was telling me my social security number had charges for drugs and embezzlement charges. They wanted to give me a new social security number lol Kept them on the phone for 45 mins.

We get the insurance and car warranty scammers all the time (and they're definitely calling from within the US based on their accents). We have fun making up all kinds of things.

One day l woke up to the phone ringing. Everyone that knows me assume that my phone is either not charged, or not with me as l tend to forget it, so the odds are it's someone l don't know (or someone that don't know me, to be exact). This turns out to be true. It's a man speaking English with an Indian accent. He's telling me some rubbish about my pc contacting hackers and weird shit like that. Even though l am sure he's going through this manuscript many times a day, he still sounds very much like he's reading it off a paper in front of him. Still, it feels rude to interrupt him in his little speech. Besides, he needs all the practice he can get in English pronunciation, so l let him carry on. Apparently my pc is in a very bad state. When he's done reading he asks me; "Do you understand?" "Oh, yes!" I replied. I saw no need to elaborate that l understood very well that he was trying to scam me, and that if I did as he asked me to from now on, my pc, my finances, or both would certainly be in an even worse state. He asks me if I'm at the computer and I tell him I'm not. (still in bed) He asks me to go to the computer, and then the nice man adds; "don't worry. I will be on the phone. I will wait". Sweet, eh? "Ok" I say, and then l lay the phone down and turn around to go back to sleep. I hear a sound that makes me think he has hung up on me (how rude!), but then a few minutes later, just before l drift off to sleep again, I hear his voice from the phone. When I check the phone later it shows me he waited for 11.5 minutes before hanging up. New at the job, or very, very patient, l wonder.
