Reggie (Leonard Rossiter) hears from Jimmy (Geoffrey Palmer) about his plans for a fairly secret army. This may be the most fantastic bit of comedy I've ever seen. I got this from the rather wonderful www.leonardrossiter.com
A great actor. Very sad to hear of his passing. What was so wonderful about him was he was so natural. Never had to do much but like all great actors let the script do the work. And of course his face had such character that an expression alone could tell the story!
Always wanted to see more Rise and Fall ever since seeing a couple of episodes when i was 13-14. Now at 27 i finally bought the whole boxset and absolutely love it. Leonard Rositter absolute genius. Love his Pig Farnmers voice in series 2 and the way he can change character at the drop of a hat! CJ a pure legend! "I didnt get where i am today by not watching the Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin !"
each time i see this i am astounded at leonard rossiter and geoffrey palmer, two superb actors and that fact they dont even show a slight sign of corpsing
@love4knowledge I love the pig farmers voice as well in series 2, it really makes me laugh. They were all good charactes; C.J., David Harris-Jones (Super), and Tony Webster (Great). I bought the box set a couple of years back as well having watched a few episodes on Gold and I loved it.
Will fairly Secret Army ever be released on DVD, this was the series that featured the geoffrey Palmer chracter in his own series. A must see ,beleive me
@derekdingle I don't blame Martin Clunes for that, though. Apparently the "revival" was written by the same man who wrote "Men Behaving Badly"- not the right man for the job, clearly. The characters which were invented for the new series are probably best forgotten.
Thanks for putting this up , it's a shame that it was cut short as Reggie Perrin says you're all mad or something ? afterwards , a sort of second punchline if you like . I believe Leonard Rossiter said doing comedy was a absolute doddle compared to what he'd been used to .
The Martin Clunes remake version wasn't so bad really. It did take a few episodes to bed in, but that, I think, is only because I, along with almost everyone else was comparing it to the original. And David Nobbs did have a hand in writing the new version so something of the original Reggie is going to be in there somewhere.
Throughout the whole three seasons the pace and the delivery of wit is relentless. At times I found it quite overbearing just to experience, Imagine operating at such a level? I take Rossiter over Messi every time!
Jimmy would b strung himself, nowadays. Lmao. For speaking about.. Well,.. The different people and groups he mentions. Lol. But fxxxxxx hilarious. Papist rapist??))) Sounds like talking about Jimmy Saville.
