Omg, I've never heard of Reggie Watts until 10 mins ago. What a beautiful man; maybe I got this wrong, but he just took the complete piss out of the popular genre spectrum, as a whole, and with equal talent defining variables. Worthy worthy worthy!
This guy could do wonders for a classroom of young people wanting to learn electronic music improv.. I wonder who Reggie's mentor's and teachers were? We all start from somewhere ..
+Louis S.W you will learn much more in your bedroom than in a classroom when it comes to electronic music and improvisation. just experiment. sometimes the best music happens on accident.
+5thStreet2009 Beardyman is amazing too, but they are different styles. Reggie has a nonsensical comedic value, and makes great catchy songs, beardyman is probably the most versatile beatboxer in the world and much stronger technically, the comedy is different, as is the talent. No reason to compare them.
Hands down this is the BEST performance by Reggie Watts. Stirs the soul, It's so good I had to rip this into my music library. You can't not smile listening to this :D
You see how producers make a beat and concept for the melody and structure of lyrics. It may be mumble at first but you slowly fill it in with lyrics. Reggie is amazing!
This is literally a technique called a "hum track" and you're exactly right. You riff around some ideas and the things that stick you keep and you fill in the fluff and gibberish with lyrics as you go on refining things
I remember I was 18 and I must have just got home from work at 12am. I was exhausted and just turned on some second showing of Conan and I saw this guy for the first time. I had no idea what to think and I was completely flabbergasted. I couldn’t tell if he was a genius or I was just dumb, but he really is an awesome and original talent.
Honest question: How do you dislike this? At the very LEAST he has an amazing voice but then add the ability to just make songs like this is so fucking cool. Unbelievably talented.
