How door knocking got this kid a job in the City - Reggie Nelson was fed up with being left behind as the world went by so he decided to knock on the doors of the wealthy when his luck changed. Produced and Filmed by Cebo Luthuli
Quintin and Elizabeth are also top draw. Quintin knows the system isn't completely fair, and did his part to make it just that bit fairer...so utter respect for the Prices
I don’t understand when people say ‘the system is not fair’, it’s complete bullshit. By saying that your putting a mental barrier between yourself and your goal and blaming the system for your failures in life.
The system was fair not so long imo because it was based on merit. They tried so hard to make it "fair" that they introduced quotas and now they are discriminating against Chinese students because they are too smart, because they would be over represented. What Reggie did was to set himself apart and quintin gave him an opportunity because he was eager and showed promise through his enthusiasm, I would be bet even if Reggie was a different race the quintin wouldve done the same thing. The difficulty for minorities is that there are more of the majority, therefore it is more likely the white person will get the job in a white nation because there is a bigger pool of eligible people in that group. Just like most working adults tell you, to get a job you need to be different, academically is not enough, positive personality traits matters ALOT. Reggie showed just that and the quintin rewarded him for it. I myself am Chinese and will be teaching my kids not to see race, its superficial, people will judge you on who you are because in the end business want to make money and they want people who will help their business grow whether they are black, white, men or woman. We live in an Era where companies embrace minorities, they aren't seen as different. I am not treated any different than my white colleagues and they treat me the same.
How I made my fortune? Well first of all I bought car aerials for £1, sold them for £1.20. Went on and bought more and sold them and bought even more and sold them and so on..........Then my uncle died and left me with £500m. Hope I inspired you.
True story. People like Reggie using the traditional job routes can only get so far. Individuals like Branson and Zuckerberg have generations off accumulated wealth and knowledge. Very few super rich individuals have actually come from zero.
Those guys let reggie in there house when they could've just said F off but they didn't , reggie is well behaved motivated guy best of luck to him and the nice couple that helped him
So impressed by Reggie, it was so brave of him to risk and overcome the obvious rejections from undertaking an experiment, such as this! So glad it worked out well for him, I wish him continued success!!
With the thumbnail and title, i thought this was a joke video - asking people how they got wealthy. Watched a realised it was a serious clip with an inspirational Londoner.
Quite inspiring. That's what I call great souls (Elizabeth & Quintin). There is always an angel walking ahead of those that have enough faith to believe in their future.
Love this story! I have a similar background to Reggie but I'm white, the thing I've learned about wealthy people that people with money don't understand. They are just people and snobbery doesn't come from wealth, it comes from character. The snobbiest people I've met in life are poor. Inspiring guy.
Good kid. He showed initiative. I know when I used to recruit for my department, I knew I could achieve more with a team determined to learn and develop. Than those who assumed they had already earned the role.
Robert Peel well I’m a Londoner mate and I’ve lived here all my life the Londoners that live in the rich areas haven’t moved it’s just those who lived around council estates
Look at the title again... reggie goes to richest area to find out how people made their fortunes. It doesn’t say he came up with a top ten tips for becoming wealthy. It’s a story about working hard, not relying on others to get you want to be just by going with the flow... just because you clicked on this video and saw how wealthy people make money in the hopes there are some quick tricks that’ll make you wealthy doesn’t make this a miss leading title
Huge fortunes are almost impossible to make, like only a tiny percent of the population makes large sums of money. But If you want to make 10M -50M over your lifetime with hard work that is possible. You would need multiple sources of income, and live relatively frugally. An example would be something like this. 1. Salary, literally whatever job you do 2. Income from a business( that you preferably pay someone else to run. Like a McDonalds, gas station, bnb, even a youtube channel whatever. or in some cases combining 1 and 2 makes sense. I.E an accountant owning a firm, or a tradesman with a contracting company. 3. Stocks and commodities. Personally, I like the passive nature of index funds that basically allow you to invest and leave it Sp 500 makes 7%-10% annually over time. But an argument can be made for commodities and the tax breaks. 4. Real estate owning land or an apartment complex or just untouched land that will increase in value.
Clickbait video - what a shame from BBC. The video is all about social mobility and race equality, and publicity for BlackRock. Nothing to do with how people made their fortune...
Read the title again... the video literally follows a man and how he went around knocking on doors to gain a better idea of the qualities needed to become wealthy... how is that click bait? Just cos it makes you feel a little uncomfortable that they’re talking about race inequality. What makes even less sense is that this dude actually went and did something about it, rather than complain about being disadvantaged, he actually moved with the system, I don’t understand how you could possibly have an issue with this video
@@lewisb5364 Why would you be proud about that? Seriously, I don't understand people that are proud about their race. You are basically proud about something you never really had an impact on, and isin't the essence of being proud the achievments behind that. Now, don't get me wrong; same for people who are proud of being black, brown or whatever. It's like being proud that you have eyes or a nose or hair or what not. You shouldn't feel guilty because you're white, black etc., but you shouldn't feel proud about it aswell.
This Is a fantastic story of someone getting out there and making things happen, instead of saying life is not kind to me. As a mixed race person people do look at your colour and its so true that we have to be better than everyone else to stand out. I am glad i did. WELL DONE REGGIE YOU WILL HAVE MASSIVE SUCCESS. WE ALL NEED TO BE INSPIRED. LOOK WHAT I CAN HAVE IF I GET BUSY! IT ALL STARTS AGAIN, ISN'T LIFE GREAT. (ITS NOT THE RACE IN THE PERSON BUT THE PERSON IN THE RACE THAT COUNTS).
Respect to this young gentleman. Hardworking but I believe this nation is still ran on the basis of who you know rather than what you know (except for extreme circumstances of hard work and luck). Best thing to do is get to the same level as all other applicants for your prospective career/job and then diversify your skills further and improving your interpersonal skills. Tends to work.
God's richest blessings upon Quintin and Elizabeth, and may God continually protect you and keep the both of you safe, please continue to do the good work that you are doing
good work mate! it is actually quite rare to see self starting youth.... plenty have the grades but also have a real sense of entitlement.... I worked in finance and went to a graduate event to promote the grad program but I was shocked at how students had the attitude "what has your bank/grad scheme got to offer' vs 'what can i offer you.'
I'm 26 and the only person in my family having a stable job, i work as a waiter in a restaurant with a 300💲 monthly salary but i can't help but see my self getting back to school grab my decree(s) get a Job and make life better for my family and i.
Wow what a lovely story , you have just pushed me to get education and make my dream of owning my own business come true, tho they say the key to success is education but sometimes people come out of school only to realize the LUCKS on the DOORS have been CHANGED by some greedy people who don't want others to pass and that sometimes leads to breaking of doors , but never the less we don't have to give up
Many of the big firms in most sectors will use agencies, who are only interested in commission, to find staff. HR/Personnel departments are full of lazy people who should be doing more to build teams of staff members that THEY choose!
This is why I haven't given up on people, good people still exists and whenever you meet someone needing help don't stop just help and be that good person and give that person that good people indeed still exist
I couldn't afford to live there either and not many could. Do something you enjoy. A friend of mine is 40 and works in a bank and absolutely hates it whereas I earn less but enjoy what I do.
I couldn't agree more but this young man seems determined and wants to better his situation. I've been there too like your friend but I think some of us are 'spoiled' (and I'm including me). We take for granted what we have.
Jez I AM Nothing wrong with wanting to Improve his situation but please don't use media terms you'll say privileged next :). No I think it is because it is stressful so after 20 years in it is difficult to keep up that intensity but once you have twenty years on your CV difficult to do anything else my friend found so still at one of the big boys whereas I say I'll model a product and people say how long and my answer is how long is a piece of string. Being creative involves a lot of thinking time :)
I feel like he really wasted this opportunity. He could have asked Mr price to become his mentor. Instead he just learnt how to be a good employee, not become wealthy (Which was kinda the whole point of him knocking on the doors in the first place)
Ye I am struggling so read his story and though why not try it nothing to lose, knocked a few doors no response, knocked a few others didn't care and then when I went to knock others the police came. Said 4 people complained and stuff and was acting strange, so haven't really tried it after that
F the corporate environment Worked there for a few years, not for me An Entrepreneurs life is the best - Freedom Create your own world and live your dreams
@@awakenthegreatnesswithin It was a generic statement that if you hate the corporate life and you're turning towards business, then don't do the same mistake your employers did. Create the world that you wanted for yourself when you were a employee. Hope you understand otherwise leave it.
This board member he met probably saw a golden opportunity to showcase their diversity. Hence why this is now on the BBC. If I knocked on the door I would probably have been chased off the street. Kudos to this kid though, he got out and created an opportunity out of nothing.
For you Reggie, may God continually protect you, guard you, guide you, along the way, strengthen you, bless you and keep you safe as you fulfill your dreams to reach what ever you planning to. As of today Elizabeth, Quintin and you as well will be in my prayers daily. Oh by the way my name is Dwight Morrison from Kingston Jamaica
