This was Regina's TRUE happy ending. It wasn't from learning to love some guy, but by learning to love herself, the good and the bad. Snow, Charming and everyone else may have forgiven her, but it was even more important that she forgive herself for all of her past transgressions. From this moment on, she's not Regina... @@Riskofrain527 She needed a place to put the blame. It's hard to put that blame on your mom... even if she wasn't a good mom to Regina. Regina still loved her. ( as you see in later seasons) so she blamed Snow.

@@timriggins70 I second Regina, Rumple not so much. Yes, he did the right thing in the end but him trying to become better was up and down/all over the place each season whereas Regina had a straight clear path of her working towards becoming good.
"And now I love myself." My favourite line in the whole series. She sure had a long journey to make to get where she is now. The strongest character and the greatest character development in the series in my opinion.
Agree. At some points it became so cheesy that I couldn't even watch it. But at others... it was such a good character study and such a hopeful message and promoted good ideas of second chances, self-acceptances and redemption etcetera... I think this show brought so much good and compassion despite beign cheesy sometimes. And acting was superb in many cases which helped in conveying these great ideas
Hard agree although I feel the cheesiness was necessary at points to keep the plot rolling like the season 5 finale was super cheesy but i couldnt see them setting up season 6 better
I honestly thought Regina's/The Evil Queen arch was lost for good. It went through such bad writing, Just one episode ago I had no faith it could recover. This scene had me going "Oh my God!". It was beautiful. Perfect. The writers really taught us all a lesson. We all wanted Regina's happy ending (and we will still get it in the future) but we thought it solely depended on her finding love. But you have to love yourself first! Bravo!!
Agree completely, I didn't like it at first, it was too formulaic and contrived and simplistic... But this episode along with the massage of self-acceptance and self-forgiveness compensated for all of it. It was beautiful and provided hope and consolation for many people who struggle with similar issues.
She had to forgive herself from everything that she had done and she accepted her self and her past to truly be the great beautiful queen she deserve to be
I cant even imagine how it would feel to watch as your child realizes they hate themselves. That is true pain. The pain of watching your offspring fall apart.
Emmys and Golden Globes, take notice. Lana Parrilla deserves a freaking award after her performance in this episode. I couldn't stop crying watching this scene. When she says "and now, I love myself."....My feels, MY FEELS! 😭❤
this is, 1000%, my FAVORITE scene in ALL of TV history. I think Regina's character is the most beautiful, complex, brilliantly created ever. Freaking adore this scene so fucking much.
This really is Regina's true happy ending: her defeating her own darkness by choosing love over hate. My queen finally learned her lesson and can now be on her way to a happy ending. And best of all SHE DIDN'T NEED A MAN TO GET HERE

She had every right to blame Snow White for telling that secret. Not for ruining countless people’s lives and trying to kill her, but she still was allowed to put some of the blame on Snow White. She went a little bit crazy after all her unhappiness - life with abusive mother, death of her fiancee by her mother, unhappy marriage, isolated lonely life in the castle with the brat who told your secret, abandonment by your older husband, dealing with dark magic, manipulation at hands of Rumple - and boom, hello craziness. Lana told it herself.
One of the best character arcs of this show was Regina’s face turn. It didn’t seem forced. And it wasn’t easy, as it took probably 3 seasons for me to fully believe she turned good.
At the beginning of this video, when Regina looks into the mirror and finds out that she’s the thing she hates most, she breaks the mirror. Who thinks that this is an allusion to when Regina broke a mirror with her wine glass in 1x20 “The Stranger”?
This is one of most powerful moments in show. I know what does mean hate yourself. Even if you think you loved.. You take actions to improve yourself once again, but it takes so hard, costs so much, doesn’t give possible result. That way doesn’t work for me. I chose another way, tried to accept myself. And final step in this transformation is let all negative thoughts go, and finally choose yourself. Not beautiful , not ugly, not super-smart, not the best. When you accept yourself as you are now, the great love fills you. I’m following the way of my soul. This is happiness, isn’t it?♥️

I wonder how much fun Lana Parilla had playing this scene....literally both sides of her character facing off against each other and then that beautiful moment of clarity where she sees her true reflection and realizes she can love both parts of herself....the dark AND the light.....and she finds peace at last..
Regina was amazingly written and gave complex layers that were relatable and this scene was one of many that turned out to be the best in the overall series.
This is one of the best and one of the most beautiful scenes in the entire show, Regina loving herself and accepting all of herself ❤️🖤 Regina is my favorite character, and the one I identify the most with. She is the one that has grown the most, and she DID get her happy ending. Her happy ending is accepting herself and learning to love herself and being happy with the person she is. She found the balance between light and dark within herself and is the best version of herself 🤗
Noob saibot, Have you not watched seasons 3, 4, and 5 at all? Clearly you haven’t, because if you had, you would be able to see how much Regina has changed. She is no longer the woman she used to be. That woman was a villain. Now she is a hero, whether you like it or not. She has become quite selfless, if you haven’t noticed. Also, have you forgotten that she lost Robin Hood just a few weeks before this? If you still think that Regina is no hero, then you have to be willing to accept the same thing about Mr. Gold, Hook, Zelena, and a few others as well. Lastly, Regina realizes all of her mistakes; she realizes that she has done terrible things. She has accepted this in many episodes of OUAT. You have to be fair to Regina you know. Otherwise, you are too biased to be a true fan of this show.
even though I think they could also finish the Evil Queen storyline by just killing her(considering she was no longer connected to Regina thanks to the sheers) I don't think that would make Regina truly happy, cause The Evil Queen, what ever she was, she was still part of Regina and by just destroying her, you won't heal your self-hatred problems, you just cut an organ from yourself in other words.
I love this message. THIS is Regina’s happy ending, learning to love herself. But I still wish they had joined together again. I feel like that would’ve been a better show of acceptance. (And if I’m honest, the clone and alternate-reality Robin getting together is kinda odd. But I love this show no matter what.)
This show is so relatable (not exactly in a good way) it shows us that we all have regrets. It shows us that we sometimes push all of our emotions down untill they explode and u regret it. We all have parts of us that we hate. That we wish we didn't have. This show is a representation of that. This show is top 3 of my fav shows
one question though, if she went back to the wish world isn't she still being hunted for killing the alternative version of snow and charming there? oh and not forgetting kidnapping princess Emma?!
Issam Khreich No, 6x21 6x22 proved otherwise, The EQ said that she had angry villagers trying to burn down her home for killing snow and David, but you wouldn't know that because they didn't make it obvious.

I used to hate Regina, Evil Queen and all that. She made people miserable but then you got to see her backstory and understand why she's the way she is. Now I just want her happy ending.
This is such a big message to all no matter how much we hate love ourselves we're still me and we need to accept that no matter how much evil things we've done or regrets in life we just need to learn to love ourselves the good and the bad
