I think it has to do with the type of music too but I agree about the way performers in the past carried themselves on stage. There used to be more pride attached to being on stage. Now everybody is given platform and the stage has lost its meaning.

Wow, nakikipag eye contact talaga sya sa mga audiences at hindi sya nakatutok sa “teleprompter” para sa lyrics (wala pa yatang ganun dati). Back then, it was a must to literally “memorize” the words of your song. I wonder kung kailan nakuha ni idol yung sakit na pamali-mali sa lyrics. Hindi pala sya ganun dati.

But, it was during her 30s that she was able to discover and develop new singing techniques. In short, mas gumaling sya lalo. But to say na kailangan nyang makipagbiritan sa ibang singers is totally preposterous dahil wala naman syang ibang kalaban non vocally. The closest was Lani Misalucha, but iba naman atake ni Lani
