She just doesn't use a proper technique when belting unlike Sohyang. Both Regine & Sohyang are great singers & should be appreciate for their work. If you don't like it then just ignore it. The purpose of this video is just a reply to one of Midnytsnack video to show what Regine can do, Sohyang also can do but with a proper technique. Except the walking part. Before watching this video, I thought that Regine and Sohayng is the same level. But in this video, when I saw Sohyang wandering through the crowd and succeeding the high notes flawlessly, I was very supriesed that she can do that with smile all the time. I respect Regine but Sohyang is more incredible undoudtedly.

Honestly I can listen to Regine's full concert without hurting my ears but with Soh Yang's screaming in a song,hmmm... In all fairness that is all based on watching their youtube performances. Regine's voice is versatile and with emotion, she can sing almost everything, from operatic to ballad to pop while Soh Yang's voice is distinctive to a certain genre.Ive heard Regine singing live already and I can really tell she's really damn that good.

sohyang vocal tone is actually a common belting we hear from filipino singers such as Morisette, katrina velarde etc. etc. Regine's voice has textures that is very distinct and you will really appreciate how it has evolve because it constantly change through the years but the power is still there. She's the blueprint of filipino belters.

They are both great, but i like Regine not only because I’m a Filipino. When I first heard So Hyang’s voice, I got interested. Then later I saw comparison videos of her vs Regine. They can both hit high notes and sustain but… I cannot clearly understand Sohyang’s english lyrics. yup, she can reach high notes but sound nasal(for me). I saw some comments, that Regine’s G5s are stained because she’s using full chest voice. Yup she’s can do the full chest voice in hitting G5s that So Hyang maybe cannot do. But I kinda like So Hyang still. I mean, I like great singers who can belt. But Regine is on the Top of my list of favorites. If Regine is not good enough for some of the people here, well, for Maestro Legrand, Byan Mcnight and other local and international musicians; and vocal coaches who do reaction videos on Regine’s performances, she gets praises. I know this was like, a year ago, but im appalled as to why people determine who a “better singer” is by their english pronunciation. By that logic, if they both compete only singing korean songs, then So Hyang would automatically be better since she can speak Korean better than Regine. Also, using chest voice for a note as high a g5 isn’t a good thing at all. It can damage your vocal chords for the long run, and it has a higher chance of straining as Regine had shown. So Hyang is using mixed voice, and the clear balance between her chest and head voice is incredibly impressive. That’s something not everyone can achieve. P.S. If you watch So Hyang’s Holy Night and I Have Nothing, her english pronunciation is good.

regine has more colors when she sing and impressive mid voice and great control while soh yang there are times shaky and pitchy due to lack of control especially when she hits the lower notes, kinda annoyed with her facial reaction when she hit the G5. and when soh yang sing i am not hearing a word just shout and it really stresses me out honestly theres no story at all, she forgot to convey the message of the song at all, singers are just a vessel to tell what the song is all about and soh yang failed that most of the time.
I am Kenyan and on OBJECTIVELY listening to both, So Hyang wins for me because technically she mixes well at that point. Regine uses too much chest voice on a G5. Her mix is 65% chest 35% head. She tries to mimic her mid belt region in this register leading to a slightly shrill poorly resonated sound. At phrased G5 notes her support is fantastic. But she pulls her larnyx high for sustained G5s. So Hyang maintains a neutral larnyx and mixes 50/50.

When you said Sohyang shouting, you should learn some vocal lesson first because the only person that said Sohyang shouting is someone that doesn't have a vocal knowledge. Regine is actually the one that shouting. You said Regine belt is more pleasant, that's because you like her timbre more than Sohyang which is a subjective things because it's base on people taste & opinion but not for technique. Technique is an objective things you can argue about when talking about singing. For people like me that has always play an instruments, Sohyang timbre is my cup of tea. @@limjingyee You can still be resonant if you're nasal. I'm not a voice tracher/coach nor pro singer however there are techniques to justify that. Sohyang, Lara Fabian and Celine Dion are examples, to name a few.
Obviously,Regeine is not that good. SoHyang killed her with that resonance and upper belting. But I can't see any of it in Regine's song maybe just a little resonance just like this a little bit 👌
苳芝 Regine does have resonance in some of her upper belt but she struggle to achieve that because of improper technique. If she spending more time on fixing her technique, she would have no problem. Even so, she's still miles away better than most today singer.
Obviously,Sohyang diction cannot be understand because of mostly korean accent /languange when singing an english version they usually end up having difficulty in pronouncing the words correctly thats why when sohyang hitting high or belting notes she tends to eat that words,she dont even have the right emotions to the songs she sing thats why the listener/audience are hard to relate on her message.

regine in her prime is a well known international singer. She's comparable to Coco Lee. She was one of the of the few asian pop singers who has sold millions of records esp in east asia.
