you have said that after merging, both previous regions are now one region. But after that you compare both of previous regions separately with their neighbor regions. How it is possible as considering them as single, but dealing them as separate...
You are right that is a mistake that I have done. Once the region is merged you should compare it with the whole region. Thank you so much for pointing it out.
@@pratikian Hello ,does it mean if we compare the fourth part ,we have to use the combination of first, second ,third part as a whole region. Then we use the max ,min value in whole region composed of the first, second, third part to compare with the fourth part to get the difference between whole region and the fourth part. In the end by using threshold to identify if the fourth region belongs to whole region composed of the first, second, third part.
Thanks a lot. For this method, we also choose a number that is in the middle of the range, here the range is 0 to 7, so we can choose 3 or 4? because if we choose the maximum and minimum from a different region than the one you've chosen, we may get a different threshold!

So in practical cases it is rare to find such a case , either we can twig the threshold in such cases to get the required segmentation, also in some algorithms there is a limit to the splitting, say atleast some n pixels should be there in the segment.
If u take 2 regions for merging . U take max - min of one region with another . Forward and reverse . What if one condition satisfies and the other dosent ? Will it merge ?
for 1s and 0s the concept remains the same, only here the threshold is what you need to change, split the image into 4 parts if a region consists of all 1s or all 0s then leave it as it is if this is not the case split it further after all the splitting done you should have regions with only one or zeros in it, then merge all the adjecent regions which have 1 or 0 and you get your ans
@@pratikian while merging, consider 3 regions'a,b,c' ; what if 'b' satisfies the threshold condition with 'a' but not with 'c'? should i consider b in the final region or not?

+chand basha they are 2 different things in statistical region merging we first select a threshold and directly start merging the neighbouring pixels ... Whereas in region split and merge we first split the images according to the threshold and then start merging
