@@researchwithfawad I am running a linear regression between the mean composite of: mastering thinking traps in marriage life (DV), religiosity (IV) and, marital satisfaction (IV) All 3 variables were ordinal likert scale before computing them to mean composite. very interesting study but unfortunately the correlation values are low.

Sir, very informative video. I am working on my thesis analysis part . I have 24 independent variables(Likert scale) and converted in CFA with 4 factors and 1 dependent variable with income category. Can I use sum total or mean score of the each factor & then calculate the ordinal regression? please suggest.

Thanks. I am glad you liked it. Yes, you can have composite independent variablesas well as dependent. But, if you are using ordinal regression, the dv is at ordinal level with ordered categories.

Hello thank you so much for your very clear video. I am trying to run an analysis on a dependent variable that changes over a span of 2 years while I analyse the effect of two independent variables on the dependent variable. (depression at baseline is 100%, changes in depression after 2 years) I think i need to correct the dependent variable at baseline before I start my analysis but I don't know how. HELP please!!!!

Best explanation of Explaining and reporting Regression I have seen so far, it was really very helpful, my coursework is due in a few days and was struggling to interpret data and reporting it. I still have a question, I have precieved stress as DV and 3 IVs which are, coping styles, Personality and Social Support, the coping style has subcategories as avoidant, emotional foccused and problem foccused, similarly personality has 5 subcategories, I have put all these subcategories separately while running the regression Analysis, so Altogether my list of IVs has become 9. And I am running multiple regression ofcourse. So, my question here is, do I need to compute sum of all subcategories into one like for personality, the sum of all 5 subcategories into one and similarly for coping, sum of all three categories into 1. Kind regards.

First, thanks for your appreciation. I am glad the video helped. As for transforming Personality, I would say No, Some variables with sub-categories may be transformed because the sub-categories are very much alike and highly correlated. for Personality, different personalities are far apart from each other and hence, in my opinion that should be kept and analyzed separately.

Great and detailed video! My question: My questionnaire has to do with how many times per month you attend a live concert. Apart from the needed answer in a number form, there are also the data: 'not in universe', 'don't know' etc. Should I create a dummy for my dependent variable so that I can only take into account the people who responded with a number data?

Thanks. In simple terms, T statistics is a cut off value to assess whether or not a particular hypothesis is supported or not. Greater than 1.96 for a two tailed test shows hypothesis is supported.

Thanks. I am glad you liked it. If your variables are manifest variables, that is a single item with likert scale, use Ordinal Regression.

I got a question, after I've done the multiple regression for wages and gender using spss, I got wages as DV, and iver IV, the results of the regression with one of the IV was: Nonwhite (unstanderdized coifficient: B) -0,188 unstanderdized coifficient: SD 0,070 (Standardised coifficient Beta) -0,114 t -2,669 sig. 0,008 How can I interprete and report them? especially as they have MINUS (-). I got really confused.

If Sig is less than .05 then the effects are significant. Negative sign indicates a negative effect. However if your IV is dummy the interpretation slightly changes. See video on dummy variables im spss on the channel please

Such a great video, but sir I have a question, my model have 1 dv and 7 iv, when I run all of them with simple linear regression, they all showed significant (p=0.000), but when I run them as together with multiple linear regression, only 3 are significant while others are not even close (one of them is 0.812). Could you explain to me what causes such huge differences, and whether I should follow the results of multi or simple linear regression.

It is pretty simple, the stronger variables over shadow the impact of the weaker variables.Those three are the critical variables the research of them are not significant. This is the ultimate objective, to attain parsimony.
