This is what my old lady and I want to do. Why get pinned to a fixed location. Even if work stays stable for a long time, if we ever want to take a vacation or go see family that live a long ways away we don't have to sacrifice our comfort or personal space to visit. You can take a vacation without really having to pack, just grab some groceries and fuel :D Don't like your neighbors, sick of where you're at...move. It wouldn't be something everybody could handle but, I think we could. We move to a new apt we have zero equity in every year anyway, I have been moving all my life with the military career of my father and myself. I think it could be great.

Well, it kinda sounds interesting, but despite all the "luxury" in that thing I can´t help but think that it would feel like you´re camping your whole life ... think about it, you just have limited space, a family of 4 would have to make some compromises, so no separate rooms and not much privacy etc. and you have to clean out the tank of your toilet every couple days ... I can understand it´s cheaper than renting and who´s in on it can certainly do it but you can´t really compare it IMO ...

Iboo30 I completely agree. The idea is very romantic but when reality sets in its not the most ideal living situation.. home would never really feel like home. Plus cleaning a septic tank would fucking suck, I like being able to just flush and forget. That more than anything is why I wouldn't live in an rv

Iboo30 That's an awfully suburban way to look at it, there are actually still nomadic cultures that exist today and I assure you that you'd take the RV over a yurt any day of the week. It's certainly not for everybody though.

Koop92tc That's kind of like saying that 3 miles is the same as 3 seconds though, they are units for two very different measurements. Sure, people know what you mean but as an engineering student little things like that annoy me :D

In an engineering setting yes. But since both torque and word are measured by multiplying a force by a distance the order of which ft and lbs comes in makes literally no difference for either unit. The order that "ft" and "lbs" are just assigned arbitrarily to differentiate between the two. Much like the sign convention on the direction of heat transfer. Neither one is right or wrong we just chose one so it makes sense to everyone.

I know this is a 3 year old comment, but whatever. The reason many commenters say "OMG I CANT BELIEVE YOU DON'T NEED A SPECIAL LICENSE TO DRIVE THAT THING", is because in most other countries, it doesn't matter whether you're driving it for commercial purposes or not here. It doesn't matter if you're for hire or not. The laws where we live specify weight, size and passenger capacity, not "if you're gonna haul shit for a day job".

+w33b3l Growing up in a country with entirely separate license categories for towing anything heavier than 750KG, larger vans, small trucks, large trucks, large trucks towing something, vehicles that carry more than 7 people, small coaches, large coaches and coaches towing things, this idea of "fuck it, a car license is good enough" for something the size of a large coach is totally baffling. I sometimes think you people have too much freedom and democracy.

BritishCommentWriter We actually have very little democracy, thats a facade. Our government is a republic through and through but people deny it. Freedom is kind of our go to though and I cant argue that you can have too much of it, the problem is that a lot of laws we do have that make sense, aren't enforced and when new laws are created they are either ridiculous, dont fix the problem, or make it worse. Ide rather we could do what we want and self govern ourselves personally. Law makers dont know what they are doing in the slightest. Laws are made by rich ass holes that know nothing of real life and only get into politics because they want to feel superior. Big vehicles like tractor trailers, dump trucks, and commercial buses do have a lot of endorsements needed though, you cant drive a tanker or a passenger bus unless you pass the test and get the endorsement. We do that for motorcycles as well but its for ALL motorcycles. Its more about taxation then safety at this point however. Our laws = revenue, and we only make laws we know people will either break so we can fine them, or they make it easier for the rich to get more rich because the rich makes the laws.

Not quite all depends on the state. I don't know about the other states but Texas requires a CDL for any vehicle with air brakes.
