I honestly kinda want Endeavor to die and before you get mad at me read this below I feel even worse for their mom imagine being sold off to someone for money by your own family and being forced into marriage without consent and then having kids whether you like it or not on top of being abused to insanity and then left in a mental institution and forgotten about she was used as a breeding tool and nothing more there was no love she never had the chance to find true love it was taken away from her and she was raped and the sad truth is shit like that actually happens in Japan there's a reason why they allow 16 year old girls to be married there if they've changed those rules I wouldn't have any more information as of right now

Fun Fact: Just learned that Todoroki didn't get burned from the boiling hot water since his left side is immune to fire. It was actually from his mother's power trying to cool this spot she thought she burned.
Oh god how shouto thought his mother seeing him would make her go through pain, imagine all the self-hate he went through believing he was the cause for his families pain. I mean your own mother pouring boiling water on your face must be such a hit to his self-esteem at such a young age as well.

I've always hated Endeavor and the way he treated his wife and children. And I still loathe him, now he's trying to be a real father and trying to fix his mistakes. He’s still unforgivable, as someone who went through the same thing.
He's a piece of shit who's trying to change and atone for his mistakes. I'm honestly very happy with how is arc is going in the series. Hori has ben doing an amazing job making his arc as nuanced as possible.

As a person who person relates to Todoroki's story having also dealt with abuse as a child. Endeavor's development arc feels pretty fair to me. He'll never be what his family needed then, all he can do is be what they need now. And while it's a bitch of an emotion to wrestle with when you're the one who was a victim of it. It's necessary to move forward because that's all you can really do, move forward
(Not so) Fun Fact: Since Shoto has a fire quirk, he'd probably have some resistance to the burn, and it wouldn't show up as obviously as Shoto's scar does. This means that Rei probably tried to ice his burn in a panic, which would actually just turn it into a frostburn, a significantly worse type of injury.
Everyone is either talking about how much they hate Endeavour, how they feel sorry for Todoroki and his mom and how much Dabi/Touya musty have suffered. I feel like I am the only one admiring just how good the child voice actor of Shouto is. Like damn, you can feel the emotion dripping from his voice.
OK I wasn’t entirely endeavors fault sure he may have caused Toya to try to kill himself but his eldest son made the decision to become a murderer on his own I get that he had a tough childhood but that doesn’t justify what he’s done turning innocent people on the charred corpses
My friend was talking about TodoMomo over text, and she accidently wrote Todomom. This is now how I call Todoroki's mom. On a serious note though, I'm happy Todomom is getting better and Endeavor is trying to become a more of an actual parent.
I’m not loving this new ‘Endeavor becoming a better father’ arc... I doubt Shouto can forgive him for all those years of abuse. *EDIT* : I’m not gonna even started on what he did to Dabi (I believe the theory that Dabi is Touya Todoroki, at this point it’s basically cannon) *EDIT 2* : SPOILER!!! So it’s confirmed that Dabi is Touya Todoroki 🙂 And Endeavour’s name has now been tarnished in the eyes of the general public, literally right after he became #1 Hero 😂
im sure that there will be a climactic scene between the Todoroki family if Dabi is who we think he is. That's what season 7 will most likely bring into the fold.

So basically he paid her family and they gave her to endeavor and he most likely forced her to repeatedly bear his children if he thought they weren’t strong enough to surpass All might and she did all this while getting abused by him to the point where she had a breakdown and ended up pouring hot water on Shoto’s face then she gets put in a hospital for the rest of her life... wow I feel like if endeavor wants to redeem him self and change his ways he needs to know that Shoto is not the only one he abused and traumatized not to mentioned also has 2 other kids who he basically ignored since they where kids. Just saying. Also I don’t agree that it was right to pour boiling water on her child’s face but I understand why, I mean years of abuse makes people mentally unstable to the point where they don’t know what their doing it’s obvious from the flashbacks and the scenes in the manga that she was a good mom at some moments when she was in a good mind set but the people who think she’s a worse parent than endeavor are actually concerning me once again what she did is absolutely not ok but there is no way I can understand how people hate her more than endeavor she made one mistake and overall was a good mother who was fighting off her mental problems to raise Shoto as best as she could.
Also if it helps when shouto enters the kitchen it's only his fire side showing red hair and blue eye the splitting image of endeavour so she probably had a breakdown saw what she thought was endeavour and threw boiling water at him not even thinking for a second that it was her son
Now judging Endeavour under western standards of society hardly seems fair. Having some comprehensive knowledge of Japanese history, culture, and society will give you a better understanding, relatability and appreciation when watching Japanese anime. I must remind you that the story is set in modern day Japan, and the Japanese despite being technologically advanced, they also remain faithful to cultural tradition and have a very conservative society. Japan has a long history of arranged marriages known as Omiai (see-meet) that remains up to the present. It is arranged by a marriage broker, and parents attend the meeting. Marriage Compatibility includes does not only apply to the prospective bride/groom it mandatorily applies to potential in laws too. The parents will not give their daughter to just anyone who asks for her hand, like any normal parent, they will only accede if you have the resources and ability to raise a look after their daughter and raise a family by giving a significant dowry which Endeavour provided so he can marry Rei, now to say he bought her is unacceptable, it shames, and dishonours Rei’s parents, family, and clan. As a wife in Japanese tradition, Rei is expected to be submissive, dutiful, obedient, industrious and to bear her husband children in their union. To acquiesce to coitus on husband’s demand is not seen as rape, it is seen as her duty. So cut Endeavor some slack, he may have some questionable views regarding eugenics but he is not a bad person, has remorse, and that he genuinely loves his wife and kids.
We seriously need a Todoroki centric spin off of this series. Start with his childhood, include the entrance exam to UA and a bunch of what happened during the main series that wasn’t include (ex. what it was like doing his internship with Endeavor and his and Bakugo’s classes that they took since they failed the licensing exam), etc. I think he has a really compelling story 🤍❤️

I agree I hat eit when ppl say she a bad mom for pouring boiling water on shoto. She wasnt herself she was an insane person and insane ppl can literally do anything.

Literally Todoroki and the rest of the family act like the mother is innocent when in reality she's almost as bad as the father. She hated the kids because they reminded her of her husband, and hurt Todoroki. Sure it might have been out of fear, but that's still not something you should do to a child. Personally I don't like how literally everyone in Todoroki's family is having a redemption arc. Like, I thought it would be better that Todoroki just became good and continued to follow a path separate from his father, but now they're trying to make the father good aswell, for someone who used to beat his wife and kids. I feel the contrast between Todoroki and his father should remain, Endeavor doesn't need a redemption arc.
It’s so frustrating how people STILL think that Rei threw the kettle because she was “stressed” or wanted to take it out on her kid. It’s just lack of critical thinking skills at this point. Because if y’all knew what a psychotic break was, you’d know that Rei wasn’t physically in control over her body and minds response to her severe trauma. What she did WASN’T intentional and THATS why they can forgive her so easily even though she didn’t forgive herself. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Rei undergoing a psychotic break is far beyond her control and nobody else’s fault but ENDEAVORS. So to say that she’s just as abusive as him-or worse than him, is plain ignorant.
i was feeling overwhelmed as it is and this was on my recommended. just hearing little shoto saying that he didn't want to be like his father struck a chord in me and i couldn't help but cry because that was me who was going through a stage of self loathing. never thought i would cry over an anime character but i did somehow.
Endeavor: **Beats Shoto until he throws up, abuses his wife until she becomes mentally unstable, and neglects his duties as a father and only has kids for a petty rivalry with another hero** Shoto: It’s so annoying. 🙄
God’s mercy it’s no wonder that Shoto Kun is closed off. I do hope that his friends in class 1-A and 1-B pull him through this depression, especially if he talks to Ibara Chan with his problems
I'm just gonna say endeavor can never change his past he drove rei to the limit and made her horrible pretty much just let touya/dabi destroy some 95 percent of his body he has done lots of things.
Shoto thought that his presence had made her sick (he recalled that at 5 years old he burned because his right side disgusted his mother), so he did not dare to visit her in the hospital since he believed that his presence would worsen the mental state. There is a lot of self-hatred in Shoto's thoughts and for a long time he saw himself as a "tool" rather than a person.
Head cannon: He only had ice powers in the beginning or when his quirk(s) manifested Even though his father trained him his lower was more powerful then his other siblings that’s why Endeavor chose him And when Rei todoroki (shoto’s his mother) burned him with boiling water waking something inside him or breaking his reality for a short moment. The emotional pain that he had (along with the physical pain) brought on something and brought him a second quirk
IKR he blames himself for what happened to her. in the manga when he is walking to go see her for the first time in 10 years, he says something along the lines of “she’s locked up in there because of me and my father”
