It's an interesting choice of words, but doesn't work as well on highly functional, megalomaniacal sociopaths like Toichiro Suzuki. For that, only a sheer showndown of strength and complete denial of his twisted values after said showdown was enough, and that's what Mob did.
I'm very surprised about how reigen can earn a lot of money just from mob power and he's is so lucky that everyone didn't know that even he's on the tv-shows
@@angduy8105 that's basically Reigen's power. He knows how to turn the odds to his favor, most of the time and when it's necessary to the plot. Reigen is the kind of guy that can sell shampoo to a bald person.
@@carlojimenez9669 Akatsuki: we want to change the world Reigen: Oh hell no, you're hidden in the tree, clearly you are afraid and only living your past. You can't create better future. Your friend died? So sorry, but it's not a reason to kill other people. Grow up, weirdo! Akatsuki: insta disbanded
Even if Mob transferred about 1000% of power to Reigen, the fact he's just a simple man who sees their vision of domination as silly is just hilarious to the senses. 😆👌
To add insult to injury, that was borrowed power, from a kid, basically a commoner that has yet to see the world him self and even he sees the reality of the situation like Reigen does. XD
watching this scene again I realized how interesting it is... by giving Reigen 1000% of his power, Mob basically made it so he could react to those psychics as if they were just really bad con artists, the perfect context for him to shine. And perfect context for them to realize that their powers can't change or overpower everything. What a great show.
it made me remember that other scene where he totally controls the situation with those 2 con artists trying to steal mob with the broken vase, totally different scene, but Mob made it look almost the same thing in Reigen's perspective.
If you also think about it, they weren’t willing to listen to reason and didn’t take him serious when they thought he was nothing more than another weak person and they thought since he’s weak his words mean nothing. So as soon as he gets 1000% he treats then the exact same way by not taking them serious to prove their flawed look at others then resorts to go to the reasoning he tried to tell them to begin with.
@@BroadcastingCN but Reigan is the true talk no Jutsu master(Don't have to take this seriously though) Instead of talking heart to heart like Naruto, he straight up roasting them to the core.
I love how in Mob an actual Adult is telling the kids that they don't need to fight, let the adults handle adult things whereas most shonen shows just makes you believe that there are no adults in their world! Mob is great show with great characters!
Reigen is my absolute favourite for that part :D Children are always having to fight and get hurt in shounen animes and its refreshing to see the teacher figure tell the protag that they don't have to fight a bunch of man children
I think its mostly bc authors are so fixated on making teen protagonists to appeal to their main audience(which are young boys) that they sometimes forget to include the adult figures that contributed to their characters' upbringing
I just realized that the “You’re plotting world domination when you haven’t even seen the world?” is a foreshadowing of when Toichiro traveled all around the world to see if hes able to plot world domination
t ko hiểu sao ông reigen có thể may mắn tới vậy kể cả khi bị mời vào buổi họp báo liên quan đến liệu ổng có lừa đảo mn hay ko thì vẫn có 1 cái kết khác giúp ổng :)))
The ending to this season was way more original than the second season. I love how they put the spotlight on a supporting character like Reigen instead of Mob "predictably" being in it. It was quite the surprise and it made the whole series that much more enjoyable.
both work in their own ways. this is a good subvertion of the shonen cliche were conflict is solved by the main character going berserk and instead of resolving said conflict by brute force, its done through reality check. s2 ending is mob's culmination of his character development as he's now willing to do things his own way. having him more involved and become a better character overall.
Original? I mean, the very concept of character development isn’t original, I guess? The whole story is about growing up. You see the fruits of that in Mob’s fight with Toichiro. Mob leaving it to his master vs understanding that his powers are for helping people. 100% courage is the embodiment of Mob’s evolving mindset thanks to his friends.
I once showed Mob Psycho to a friend, but accidentally started with Ep 1 of.... Season 2 The entire time, all I could think was "I don't remember this show having the absolute STONES to introduce 50 side characters and then just toss them all aside???" It was a very enjoyable watch though
It is not a number of power, but the amount of emotional distress on Mob. Mob suppresses his emotion as he is afraid of his power going out of control. 100% is loss of emotion and as such loss of control over his powers.
Spoilers from season 2: Man, rewatching this scene makes me appreciate Reigen even more, especially after viewing season 2 episode 7. Wasn't a fan of him in the first season, but his characterization really shines here. His fallout with Mob in the second season was bang on believable and amazing. Prolly one of the best mentors I've seen in all fiction.
Exactly. At first we were made to think that Reigen was just a jerk and a plot point to introduce Mob's "stress levels" and the titular "100". But as the series progress, we were made to realize that the two were really close and it's just reigen getting carried away with using Mob because Mob respects him, as much as he appeared as a con artist but is actually a good guy. We get to see that he's not so much as using Mob everytime but only when spirits were involved and during the times mob doesn't have anyone to rely to or when in danger, Reigen is one of the few to run to his aide even when he has no powers.
@@user-pi1lb4tf2f The thing I love the most that almost nobody seems to get is that Reigen is arguably not even a con man. In season 2 episode 5, he is the only man in an entire room full of real psychics to actually notice something off. He comes across as a real professional investigator who is way above all these goofy idiots, giving an actual presentation in front the whole crowd and doing so eloquently without ever stuttering or stumbling. Overall, he handles the business side of things, acting as a charismatic icon for it to flourish, and leads Mob into using his power to its best potential. It's not like Mob could have run an exorcism business by himself, and this is emphasized in S3 when an adult psychic Serizawa, who must be clearly be aware that Reigen is not a psychic, seems to worship him until the very end. But it gets better, right after when Reigen has his arc and comes to light as a scammer, in just one episode we see several scenes of customers leaving his office smiling and super happy. The author wanted to explicitly emphasis Reigen's positive mark on the world: indeed, in the customer's mind something feels wrong with their body or their well-being, but they are spiritual so instead of saying things like "depression" or "sore shoulders" they call it being "possessed". For these people, Reigen provides a real service like truly listening to their problems and doing therapy for them, or giving them a massage. Sure he throws salt around and shit but that's just ceremony, but during this they are getting to spend time with a real human and to have a connection, and they leave with their money's worth. Reigen prior to meeting Mob doesn't even seem to believe in spirits, so it's possible he himself has thought about it and recognizes that people have issues that can't always put into word any other way than "I'm possessed." Dude isn't a scammer, he's a top notch social worker. The services he offers are real and have a positive effect on people. Fucking masterpiece really, hands down some of the deepest most thought out writing in manga/anime history
@@nuckm Reigen is skilled for sure but he is a "con-man" in terms of being a psychic. The rest when it comes to "consultation" is real. Reigen is good with human psychology. He also has good luck and natural charisma. He is aware of strengths but never one to abuse it. And when he got the "chance" to become a powerful esper, we never saw him again take an opportunity to be one by letting Mob give him his power. We only ever saw him get "assisted/strengthened by possession" by Dimple in the final act and it's more of a mutually beneficial assistance as Dimple also wants to help Shigeo as his "partner". Reigen is a genuinely good guy but he is still human and will go astray sometimes. luckily, he has Mob which he always wanted to be respected by, hence he tries to do better for Mob and for himself.
Now I feel bad for those 7th division dudes, Reigen literally told them he was a commoner and was still out of their league, the perfect example for emotional damage.
Reigen speech is the reason why I dont look at celebrities or high achievers like most people do. Yes those people do deserve their flowers for what they've accomplished but at the end of the day they are still human just like the rest of us. Just because you can sing and sold a million records it doesnt make you a God that deserves to be worshipped
The fact that the enemy doesn't entirely knew that reigen was just a normal person but in this scene he was powerful AF. In this moment, that reigen berating them, someone so powerful that they can't even compete with. Tagging himself as a "commoner" and making them feel like worthless, making them grasp of reality and utterly destroying their delusional ambition of world domination is so satisfying. He destroyed them from the inside. 100% soul - penetration. LOL! 🤣🤣🤣
This is how you really defeat someone. You don’t physically overpower them, instead you give them the reality check they need. Eventually they’ll come back and thank you for the experience. It’s called Luffy No Jutsu: the power to beat someone and turn them into friends.
I love the fact reigen can casually handle more power than mob could as well as manipulate it better. before you say "bUt MoB iS mOrE poWErfUl" yea but thats like trying to smash a window with a sledgehammer instead of one of those tungsten window punchers. one is all power and the other is just a small needle but does a better job shattering the window into tiny cubes by just pushing it against the window.
Not necessarily. Reigen in no way is "handling more power". The 1000% is not 10x of Mob's 100% but Reigen's own latent psychic energy. He is using as much as Mob's 100%. However, Mob as a kid relies on his emotions as a catalyst when it comes to using his power. He is still learning or re-learning his repressed emotions as he grow-up while Reigen is a matured adult. He was serious in protecting Mob and his brother and friends and the psychic power he got from mob manifested perfectly for him to utilize because of being both stable mentally and genuine emotionally.
@@bobbyjamabo3296 yes ik but im pretty sure his esper powers awakened in season 2. he might have some powers in season 3 but im not a manga reader so idk
I now understand what Oda means when he said that Luffy didn’t kill his enemies because crushing their evil dreams is worse than death, just like Reigen did with these guys (tough with words instead of fists)
I remember this scene being so RAW because aside from the obvious parts, he clearly destroyed these people. Mentally. Emotionally. He reverted them and squashed their delusions of grandeur even if compared to anyone else they were right about being above them at least in terms of pecking order. He smacked them down. He made them doubt themselves until they were humiliated at how absurd they were as if they were just regular ass people. Having someone vastly stronger than them at that moment put that perspective into them was like a wake up call. Brutal. Absolutely brutal. Reigens the best
The whole point was that he *wasn't* greater than them. Sure, he had far more psychic power, but that was to show just how arbitrary and meaningless psychic power is. Some random con artist suddenly got enough to flatten them all without even knowing what he was doing. And how'd he get it? From a student who looked up to him, who he wanted to help. Because the whole message of MP100 is that all the power in the world is less valuable than healthy relationships with those around you.
@@juniperrodley9843 alright, how isn't he,"greater" than them? I'll agree with you that his power is arbitrary but he already has better friends and chose to self improve rather than the first assumed and first pick of almost anyone even far older than him. He chose hard work and dedication rather than fun and familiarity. That's in this season. The next one has him telling reigen that he always knew he had no psychic powers. Mobs burden is controlling his emotions which would be arbitrary too with your logic in mind. Hes a middle schooler with some trauma and PTSD whos self conscious and scared of himself because he knows hes not mature enough yet to handle his emotions. Hes been stuck in his head repeating all his doubts and fears so long that this is where his mind has gotten when hes still so young. I do partly agree that relationships matters lot in this show but it's still more about emotions and responding to the world around you. Otherwise it might have been just a slice of life and not necessarily even needed psychic powers and all the action. Since hes so over powered most fights are of little consequence to him and serve more as a way for him to grow in control of the god inside him and add suspense and action. Fighting like this looks flashy but is rather hollow. My point is that it's definitely about more than just his relationships. It's a multi dimensional story about a complex kid with complex but still relatable issues. He could very well inspire a normal average human to learn self control and how to change their negative self perception because for as powerful as he can be, he started out barely passing out from a really short and light jog. Which is funny but it shows how human he and and the amount of growth he can make and has yet to make. You are right and I like your comment. I just think theres more to it. Take care
Imagine how much the lives of those ppl changed believing Reigen because of how powerful he was in this scene, but in reality it's because of Mob and Reigen is wayyyyy weaker.
@@pierluigidipietro5597 yeah, but Reigen actually lands some hits, like Hypnosis Punch, Self Defense Rush and temporarily stunning Ishiguro with anti-esper dropkick
This whole scene got me cracked. BUT. just the delivery of this one line at 2:20, plus the animation style/simply Reigen's face, made me go crazy with laughter, and I still laugh at it. Even harder than Reigen's 🗿🗿🗿 And also, that frame at "So what does that make you?!" it's pure gold, one of the many things that made me appreciate this anime's style of drawing.
you know the only reason reigen got through to them with words is because of mobs powers since they can't just punch there way out of an argument they are forced to listen its like they say "speak softly and drive a tank"
