Logical History It’s a dragon, the whole point of the scene is to show, despite his insane bravery and heroism, that their situation is hopeless. If he can’t kill the dragon after a scene like that, how can Quinn?
This is a very good movie, much underrated. The acting is superb, the action and this version of the (genre), dragons is believable. It even has the military element which is so attractive to audiences (Avatar). Matthew is incredible, but everyone is good.
2:55 ❤ i like this part. I feel like the dragon almost sort of recognizes quinn. Like its a personal moment between them for a brief second. Quinn facing his moms killer ❤
Just sad that Van Zan's Death was useless. Wish that they let him at least hit the dragon with the axe, injuring him, maybe taking one of his eyes, so that it wouldn't have been able to perfectly spot quinn, who would've then been able to kill it..that way the dragon would've died thanks to their common effort...the way the movie played this scene, Van Zan only served as a last meal for the dragon.
He injured it with the arrow. Part of the dragon’s face and neck was damaged and on fire when the arrow exploded. That said, seeing the axe driven into its eye would’ve been cool to see.
I love the way McConaughey yells that. His death is already super badass, but just the way be says that adds to it. He is running TOWARDS this fight and not away from it, and he wants the dragon to get closer.
i love the science of these dragons they spray liquid hydrogen and another chemical agent for fire brilliant! and it would have more range than breathing it
Ever since this movie, it has been the model for dragon's breath. Pause and slow down any game of thrones episode when the dragons are big and you will see 2 spray glands in its mouth when it breaths fire.
In that situation, survival is not priority because it's impossible, stuck in a high building with no way to get off quickly against a fire breathing dragon able to burn you to crisp easily without you ever getting the distance away to dodge the blast... In that moment you either turn in hopes somehow you survive or you accept the inevitable and go out like a legend. To be accurate.. Either way his chances were slim, so he bet on the bolder task.
okay, now I've heard of this movie, I have a top 3 favorite movie dragons: 3: This dragon (or any other dragon in the movie) 2: The Hungarian Horntail 1: Smaug
TheMarionick you obviously have never heard of the Balerion “the black dread“ from asoiaf series absolutely beast hopefully we’ll se him in the game of thrones prequel series with vhagar and meraxes
To everyone who is debating on whether these beats are dragons or wyverns, these are dragons. It was just that they took a more realistic approach because in reality 6 limbs of a typical depiction of a dragon isn't that plausible since 6 limbs are more for insects while not for reptiles. They also made these dragons produce flammable liquid as opposed to breathing fire because of them trying to have a more realistic approach to these creatures. The bull that they killed was thought to be the only one but only because they never saw one. I am pretty sure they killed the only bull but only in their own region. Other regions may have their own bulls with their own territory's .
That would've been cool as hell to see. The next movie could've been about them hunting more bulls until they come across one even bigger than the first! dun dun dun.
Matthew's death scene here still rates as one of the most unintentionally hilarious deaths in action movie history...only thing that could have made it better was if he missed the dragon entirely and just fell. It's just sooooo over the top.
Vance B no, it was better that he died attempting a courageous leap of faith to at least wound the dragon with an axe to its head or mouth. Only thing OTT was that huge parkour style leap, though the edit made it look awesome.
This was such a great action film, but I like others, was very disappointed with the Mathew went out. I mean, the build up was so amazingly epic and than Chomp! Lol
I'm pretty sure it was not meant to be taken this way but the tribal tattoos grabbing the ax and charging into death with ax in hand is definitely a Nordic Viking thing to do
Michael Jordan would of been envious of the air van zant got trying to take down that dragon what bad ass scene I’d dragons ever take over a m going out the same way with this epic move
The thing with the ending, I doubt that male was the only male of an entire species, that has lived for millions of years. It's bound to have had sons in its life. I think the Dragons will return when Earth is full of life again, and a new male will take its place.
don't really see the need..the male dragon was the only one capable of fertilizing the eggs..without him the dragons couldn't reproduce like locusts anymore...just a matter of a few months to a year before they'd all die of starvation/ eat each other, then disappear, since they've been made unable to reprocude. the moment quinn killed the male dragon, humanity had won. now it's just a matter of waiting and then rebuilding. eath would've gone back to the way it was before the dragons within a few decades to a century ( of course it'd take a lot for humans to go back to being billions, and it's not clear how much of the earth's flora and terrestrial fauna are left, but the sea should still be full of life..if anything it should be full of it, since humans haven't been fishing for years).
@@kuroroluxifer8321 Be that as it may, it's impossible for an entire species to have only one male in existence. Even for a fantastical mythical creature, its just impossible. It's only a matter of when another male will come about, with now offspring not being cannibalised, or they may change gender or reproduce asexually as reptiles of today can do. In some species it doesn't even have to take hundreds of years to aquire this trait. A lizard born female can still be able to lay a fertilised egg if the environment forces it. So a sequel can still be done, its just whether the dragons themselves have changed as a result.
I just wish he hadn't gone out like that. It was amazing when he was flying through the air, roaring. Then nothing. He's just eaten. Done. It was the worst pay off and it made you feel like shit for rooting for the guy. He was such a bad ass, and he just goes out like nothing. I'm okay with him dying, but some kind of mid-air battle where he's clinging to the dragon and hacking at it with his ax, that would have been better.
krowanders I know right? EXACTLY!!!To this day, for me, it felt like a "Blooper" that he just died like that THEN NOTHING HAPPEND! Really! Like you said, I'd though he would do something with an axe or SOMETHING!
They killed the male, and there is only one male dragon, killing the male basically just caused a very slow extinction of the dragons, now all they can do is outlast them.
