NBC10's Brenna Weick heads to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station to check out the work being done to modernize the train station and make it more comfortable for passengers while preserving some of its historic charm. It's a half a billion dollar project to reimagine the station.

How about reopening the closed concourse from the train station to SEFPTA's 30th St. Subway Station?

@@Dwall44 , next time you're leaving the 30th St. Subway station walking towards the train station you'll see a large metal panel which seals the underground concourse. It went under 30 St. On the west side of the 30 th St. Amtrak station there was a bank of 3 escalators connecting to the concourse. It closed ca. 1980 when crime increased.

I like 30th Street Station. The concourse is beautiful and Amtrak PD does a pretty good job of keeping the bums out.

Tell Amtrak police that people trying to get the last NJ Transit train to Atlantic City at 12:50 am are NOT bums.

I remember Meritor Bank across the Street, and the employees running to get to their cars and get out to safety before getting mugged and stabbed when it got dark. To maintian their ATM network they had to test one atm at the end of the block. Only the youngest guy with tennis shoes was chosen to run the gauntlet of muggers and get a $5 bill out to confirm the network was up. Yeah, Philly
