If you over-ventilate a building in winter, you can end up with uncomfortably low indoor relative humidity. If you have cold surfaces in your home or holes in your vapour control layer, you can end up with mould and condensation. This video explains how these phenomena occur providing a basic introduction to the key principles of psychrometrics or the relationship between relative humidity and temperature.

Tomás: you’re a great “explainer” (In French we would say “vulgarisateur” it could also mean popularizer in English). Please keep on with the good work!

Good example, take away management of heating, ventilation and vapour barriers are important to combat low surface temperatures 👏🏾

03:30 It's more accurate to say local temperature and air composition fluctuations will cause an average 80% humidity volume to sporadically form liquid water droplets from condensation. Microorganisms such as mold spores require liquid water to grow.
