I find it interesting that the power dynamic was discussed as being in Samantha’s favor because of her abilities despite the fact that Theodore owns her and she exists to serve him. I think that also played a large part in their relationship and is worth being a part of the conversation if we’re to look at power imbalances.

Professional yes she's designed to be subservient but he ask her questions, he invites her to outings, when she's upset she leaves, he tries her ideas, she lead him in many ways while making him feel comfortable and involved. I think the balance is there but he never questioned details about her he should have.

@@TessaYoung33 In a way, I don't think some women are "too much", but men are "too little"... that meaning men have very low standards about themselves, about what they can achieve, etc etc, being too little to be with a woman that knows exactly what is she doing with her life.

Could it not be, that she was thinking about how she will talk to him about the boundaries of their relationship, because she had a similar conversation with another OS user? Each interaction with a user helps her "grow"

I've worked on quality control for AI verbal interactions, and nothing sounds as human as "Samantha". It's incredibly difficult to ensure that unscripted sentences are spoken naturally. The pitch of words (high/low) is different depending on where they are in a sentence and what meaning is being conveyed.

@@aquariumlife2929 It's definitely advancing. Actually, all it would take would be to have people listen to the same phrases spoken differently and choose the ones that sounds more natural. Like the test you do when you get glasses and the doctor asks which lens works better.

I wish they watched the movie beforehand for context on his life. He was able to humanize this AI so immediately bc 1) he’s super lonely and got this AI for companionship and 2) this is a near future world where AI already is this advanced where a natural interaction isn’t totally arbitrary

14:22 was a very good point. I've seen the movie Her millions of times as it is one of my favorite movies of all time. I did not see that Catherine was trying to iterate to Theodore that "real emotions" included her emotions/problems as well and that he should have been more receptive and helping to her when she needed him to.

This movie absolutely crushed me, particularly the break up scene and a few other scenes as well, i can't seem to wrap my head around it. I hate this movie because i feel so hurt after watching it lol it is such a weird feeling and i feel like i'm the only one who felt that after watching it.
