As a good player and coach myself. You helped me understand the release better then any PGA lesson/course could ever do👍 Even though scratch a have shears struggled with driver snap hoking when applying force. Had to settle with long irons that would fly almost as long because they are straight. Any chance you need an assistant. Would love to come over and learn directly from the source.😀

Again another excellent instruction video dealing with a critical part of the golf swing and making it simple to understand and execute. The drills you use are helpful, the way you add to them is a logical path to achieve the end result of a repeatable golf swing. Keep keeping it real.

I’m doing good one day and feeling really encouraged then the next time I go practice not good at all. Same thing happened with the bowed wrist series. I’m trying to stick with this set of drills but not as confident. In fact a little discouraged.
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA 11 месяцев назад
What are you running into for misses that’s causing your discouragement? There are many different variable that can cause poor strikes. I need more info on what’s going on or I would need to take a look at it so see issues you’re running into. The ball adds a big layer of distraction. Are you looking at practice reps on camera and things are looking like you want them to look? Then when you add the ball back in, are the reps looking the same on camera????
@jasonkelley6185

Love it. It feels so weird. My brain thinks, aint no way I’m hitting the ball with this motion. Then I spin those arms down and the ball just pops. My swing was a bit wild and pully today when I played nine, but I had a bunch of the best shots of my life. I hit 5 wedge shots with my 56 and 52 that were absolute darts. Never seen that sauce before. Everything was going 10 - 20 yards further, so that sauced things up a bit. I sauced a saucing iron right over the sauce into the sauce. You should have sauced my sauce. Saucing saucer sauced a sauce sauce sauce sauce sauce! Sauce. So yeah, thanks. I can do this drill all day. Feels great.

I'm going to get real picky with my comment. But Chris, in the slo-mo of your swing, I don't see any bowing of the wrist as you're coming "down" into impact. Does the bowing exercise just get you into that bowed position "at" impact. In other words, do I presume correctly that the bowing does occur during the downswing but you won't necessarily see it until your at "impact".
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA Год назад
You don’t see it much in my downward action because I’m pretty limited in lead wrist flexion. The only real way to see how much flexion is in the wrist would be to use a system like hack motion or gears so we aren’t just looking at it from 2D. The bowing exercise as outlined in this video is geared towards keeping people from going into cupping or extension at the point of contact.

If you had a strong grip and really strong P6 -, so need a more body release (and less arms) - would you still rotate the toe to touch the bag?
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA 2 месяца назад
Really strong grips will need more side bend and very little to no supination of the lead wrist. So I’d need to see the situation on video to be accurate or I’d need to see some club face data! Sorry for the vagueness on this one. I just don’t want to steer you down the wrong path. Face angle needs to be handled with delicate care from one person to the next. If you want me to look at it, we can arrange that for sure.

BIG THANKS CHRIS TYLER !!!!! So eloquent and make it fun!- What a dude!

At 9 minutes 46 seconds, it would have been very helpful to show how far away from the body (lead thigh) the club handle should be. Maybe a video angle from down the line, showing if the club handle should be close to the thigh, or if the club handle should be further away from the thigh. I've had better success with the club handle closer to my lead thigh, almost like the butt of the handle was pointing at my belt-buckle, but I think many amateur golfers aren't really sure where the club handle should be, and often aim the butt of the club closer to straight up at the sky at impact. Overall, still a great video.

Lead wrist palm to sky after release?
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA Месяц назад
YOU can use it, if it's tied to the grip and shot pattern that your trying to produce. Not against movement from flexion towards extension...I just don't teach it to be an active movement unless you have some sort of Dustin Johnson grip AND you want to go into lots of side bend through the hitting area.

Comment bump from previous comment. You do show a view at 16 minutes and 8 seconds, kind of showing where the butt of the handle should be pointing at, but no actual comments on what is happening there. Anyway, still gave the video a thumbs up, because it was well explained, and offered a great drill. Do you happen to have a video showing how to get the center of your pelvis ahead of the ball for low point control? I'd really like to see a well explained video on how to feel a lead side hip bump, with a squat movement when hips are square. I really struggle with low-point control, and don't know how to do those 2 things (hip-bump with squat) correctly.
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA Год назад
I actually have 2 videos on this very topic that I plan on releasing very soon. It's hard to figure out the sweet spot when it comes to the volume of information on here. I want to keep excessive thinking at bay, unless I'm personally watching over the combination of movements closely. Giving the freedom back to the students on movements can be lost in translation very quickly if there is too much to do. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for the thumbs up and thank you for the suggestions.

@MyGolfDNA

This is where a bulk of the squaring is done. In some cases, I will have students start squaring it sooner but is very dependent on the particular students current movement.

What I love about MGD is that your videos give not only the movement, but also a structured way to practice. Now, I’d prefer that I just magically implement the movement after watching the video 😝 but this release is 100% what kicked me off on my heater this year. I would put this video in your top 5, it would be number one, but I had to dock you points for quoting the worst movie of the F&F franchise. Everyone knows Tyrese is the only one that’s quotable out of that movie 🤣

Chris - I really enjoy your instruction. Great stuff. Question on this video. Would you consider this Part 2 to your Week 1, Ball Striking video? It seems more lower body centric than the Week-1 video. A lot of similarities - but different. How would you rank/categorize these two similar instructions? Thanks - cmsima.
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA Год назад
Hi Cmsima, I wouldn’t consider this part 2 of week 1. Let me explain… I’ve never seen 2 people respond to change the exact same way in the world of golf instruction. Figuring out different ways that people learn, process information and how the information is used, is 100% the most tricky part of the entire equation. Ive had some people where I’ve wanted them to focus on lower body specific movement and they crash and burn all day! I then give them something to feel in the upper half and all of the sudden the lower body starts doing what I was working towards in the first place. The point is… Everyone is different. Everyone! So, my answer is this…I rank and categorize these instructions as 2 different looks into the same end result. Let me know if that doesn’t make any sense or if you need something different and I’ll gladly help.
