I've just bird sat for my daughter's young conure parrot and what a hilarious weekend I had. He was one of the funniest creatures I have ever had the pleasure to look after.
jooooj, thank you so much! your video comforted and helped me a lot this morning! the cats caught a birdo on the roof and we found it and let it rest in a box for a while. Then went to a little park nearby and the little guy flew the same way. hug!
Thanks Dove, that was a cute addition to an otherwise annoying day for me :). You're so nice to be giving up time to help a bird with exercises and eating, I don't think I have the patience for that, lol.
Stylin' and Racially Profilin', you know you are the reason why I stumbled onto the Dove, right? It was on a Stefan Molyneux video that you revealed her existence and presto; I've been an oddball on the comment section of her videos ever since... I really should stop.
Hahaha! And he only found me because I found him on Stefan's channel. I noticed he was often one of the first to comment, so I said to myself I'll find out who this is, I subbed to him and commented on one of his videos. ;)
Hi Dove, you deserve your name. Some summers ago I had a good friend. When I went to my weekly jogging in the woods, some crazy buzzard circled down to me and almost crashed on my hair. Then he looped up and down again. I soon realized that he was only playing. A week after he came again , looping down to my head in a crash and stopped in front of me. He greeted me and played with me several times. The whole summer he played and greeted me, later together with another buzzard. (Horses and cats are normally my favourite animals.)
Dove, no, the buzzard followed me often when I ran on to other clearings and circled over me in a very friendly way. I know animals. Some years ago a wild cat followed me always when I entered my home and soon entered my home . I had never had a cat before and was at first astonished , but then I let her in and we developed a close friendship in spite of I never gave her some food. Later somebody told me that this cat was poisoned and I was very sad. At my next home in the country all the cats from the neighborhood came every day to me in spite of I never gave them food and my house was frequently occupied by them. In my present home pretty soon one of the 7 cats of my neighbour´s strolled around me and soon entered my home, in spite of I at first didn´t give her something to eat. She has the same golden and brown fur as my other cat and we also developed a close friendship, and I had the feeling that she is the incarnation of my first one. She is very affectionate and sleeps sometimes in my bed. From the other cats one often comes to my home and is strolling around me, in spite of she doesn´t like the other one. Often I find a dead mouse in front of my door. Several of the other cats and the dog of my neighbour´s who often comes to my house , are in the morning waiting for me or waiting , when I come home with my car. My neighbour and her husband often enjoy it when they see how the animals like me. When I first made friends with horses I soon got very fond of them, even my then girl-friend was a bit jealous. When our coach introduced jumping with the horses everybody fell down with the extension of me and everbody shouted to stop it , so he had to interrupt it. The wildest horse in another horse paddock everybody was afraid of and didn´t dare to ride was soon my best friend and very affectionate with me. i could tell you more stories. Of course you have the best feeling with birds and I would never dare to compare me with you. So sorry for telling you such long stories, but I always feel attracted with people who have such a wondrous feeling with animals.
They refuse food in order to loose some weight and be able to big flight that awaits them after leaving, I'm not sure they should be tube forced feeded. I hope everything turned out ok for this bird!
They start to drop consumption after peaking at about 55g, evening off down to 40g or a bit lower. Usually when everything goes well, in the last day or two they refuse everything while continuing exercises. However things don't always go so smoothly when they have fallen from the nest (or other incidents) and frequently if they are at a low weight, e.g. 28g, 30g, they should be fed (and rehydrated) a bit in order to build up some reserves for their big flight ahead. :) If they are a bit older when found, they do not take so easily to humans feeding them insects as they have been so used to the way their parents did it. everything done under constant veterinary guidance.
