This is literally perfect. As someone who's trying to marathon all the games to try and gain a new appreciation for them but only want modifications that improve quality of life (no absurd difficulty upgrades or stuff from modern gens), this is exactly what I want to play once I get to Platinum. Keep up the great work :)

i actually really like this, i feel like for a very long time rom hacks focus on more trying to make the game hard but scrap on the idea of trying to make it more fun, expand on lore, include stuff from other source material and qol updates. Don't get me wrong difficulty is fun but when has pokemon ever been hard in the first place, if you play any pokemon game vanilla the only way to to make it difficult is giving yourself handicaps. Pokemon is meant to be fun and you added things in the make the game more fun but not only that you added a little bit of difficulty to the point where the game is still playable.

Thank you for making this. Ever since SmithPlays Pokémon made Crystal legacy I’ve been hoping for something similar for platinum. Time to revisit my favorite Pokémon game!

Congrats on completing your project. This looks really solid. I know these sorts of projects can take a lot of time and dedication to make it turn out just the way you want. Ive sunk a lot of time on my own projects, so I can appreciate the grind. So I hope this leaves you very fulfilled seeing the finalization of your work.

Definitely a cool first ROM hack you made. I’ll like to give you some criticisms. I like most of the qol stuff but I think friendship mons evolving right after you get them is too much. I feel like either their base friendship should be put higher or their evolve level should be at a set level for each mon. If you would add encounters for Pokémon in the original Sinnoh dex but not in Platnium like Purugly that would be cool. I think having 6 Pokémon for the first few gym leaders seems a bit too much. I’m down for later gyms and bosses but starting out with 6 seems like a huge difficulty spike especially for casual players. You didn’t detail this in the video but it would be cool if you added in all of the events into the game. Maybe you did but you didn’t want to spoil them. Maybe you could make the text and hp bars drain faster? But yeah overall for a first ROM hack you did a pretty good job. Whenever I get around to it I’ll be excited to play it and enjoy the new content.

I recently got a pc and have always thought of making my own Pokémon and pearl being my first I always wanted platinum (playing through rn just got to where I need to fight candence to get rock climb outside of battle) so I’m glad this popped up

There's a part of me that wishes you kept friendship evolutions as they were but as someone that always runs Espeon on all my Pokemon playthroughs where it's possible, I'll never complain about making it easier to evolve my Eevee.

this is just renegade platinum without difficulty and extraneous encounters

If I might make a suggestion, I think it would be more prudent to keep Roark and Gardenia at three Pokémon each, Fantina and Maylene can shift to four, and then the remaining Gym Leaders can have five with Volkner having six. Then the Elite Four and Champion can have full teams. As far as Team Galactic goes, the Commanders having four at max feels right while Cyrus could have five or six. I get the appeal of giving enemy trainers full teams, but I think it's more appropriate for there to be a tangible feeling of Gym Leaders becoming a progressive gauntlet fight rather than having it be that way from the start. Especially when the early Gyms are usually just spamming low power moves without a whole lot of room for strategizing due to the lack of items and options.

Platinum is one of the Pokémon titles that I replay the most, and I always want to come back to it because I love the game itself and how Sinnoh feels to explore. However, my latest playthrough has reaffirmed something for me: the game is so tedious in so many ways. Sounds like this hack will alleviate a lot of that so the game stops getting in the way of its own fun. Really glad the algorithm pushed this onto my feed, I’ll be downloading and trying it out 😊

I find this Romhack quite intriguing, I think if I were to add one thing to it though I’d add the hisui Pokémon. I came up with the idea of a professor laventon descendent giving a hisui starter after the second gym.

I sadly can't get this to work on my R4 card but I'm still giving this a shot on drastic!

I have played the rom hack for a bit, and i really love it! The extra pokemon is awesome! However, the insane exp you get kinda ruins the game a bit, i just got done with Valley Windworks and i have a Torterra.. i totally agree with the increased exp but i think its a bit too much, if you increased it a bit i would definantly complete this romhack! Is there a way you can re-realese with a bit lower exp gain? Again, i really like the consept!

A quick suggestion, in Gen 5 you can spam items in the menu rather than using one then going back to the bag, so this is a great idea to implement if you have any further changes you wanna make.😊

Love the pokemon diversity. The level curve is brutal if you are not using rare candies. Feels a lot like HG and SS. Without cheats im having to grind on wild pokemon.

nice, btw does anybody know whether if there is a romhack of Platinum where not only we have the improvements that this champ made, but also including like, later gen updates for the Pokemon? like newer movesets, new TM moves, the updated type chart and Fairy type, stuff like that? That would be really fun, travelling Platinum Sinnoh with all these new QoL and updates.

Literally the ONLY thing this rom hack is missing is the ability to catch all 493 Pokemon in the wild. 😭 Otherwise, it's literally Gen 4 if it were released in Gen 5 in terms of the quality of life changes!!

i hope that using a leaf stone and/or ice stone to evolve eevee into leafeon and glaceon respectively a lot easier than waiting till late mid to early end game for glaceon and leafeon depending on when you get eevee

Ohhh hey man. I seem to not able to get whatever Pokemon Trent was supposed to give me after the first badge. Are there any more conditions required to fulfil? I saw someone get a Bulbasaur after the first gym. But whenever I talk to Trent he simply says " I remember starting my journey with Piplup and how I first walked through route 203". Something similar to this not exactly word to word. But he doesn't give me anything.

Giving the first gym leader 6 pokemon decisively does not make this the “definitive version” and very much gives it the air of a challenge rom hack much like Bloody Platinum, Renegade Platinum and so many others. I understand you gave it some QoL updates and I appreciate that, but when you were finished I really just thought “that’s it? At 5:28 I see a level 33 Skarmory in Hearthome city. It could be that this encounter is scripted to happen on a return trip instead of when you first enter the city, but I doubt it. I think what happened is that you fell into the same pitfall that all romhack creators do. You make the game harder by giving the opponents more (and evolved) pokemon. As a result the player gets far too much exp so the level curve explodes. This is problematic because Pokemon games are carefully balanced to make the player pokemon evolve around gym 6. It’s supposed to be climactic instead of frontloading all the good stuff and then having the entire game be played with evolved pokemon like a battle sim. Not a good feature. Both of these things are fine, but what you made is a challenge hack much like any other. Calling it the “definitive” version is just stupid. I understand that you’re proud of your work but to someone like me who’s played more or less every emerald/platinum/B2W2 challenge hack under the sun you really don’t bring enough new to the table to warrant calling it “definitive”. Also.. 7000 hours? Just no. It did not take you that many hours.
