I doubt you remember it, but I made a comment on an early archvale devlog. You replied to it and it made my day. I forgot about archvale for a while, but when I saw it on game pass I remembered and downloaded it immediately. I was blown away by how engaging and fun it was. I just want to congratulate you on the amazing journey you've taken. I wish you well on all the other successful games I'm sure you'll work on in the future. Cheers!

I wish more devs made stuff like this. It’s really hard to stay objective with things you’ve done, but you and your team did a really good job! A friend of mine bought me the game last christmas and while I beat the game over the course of a day, it was a really fun day where every second I wasn’t playing, I was looking forward to playing. When I was playing, I was looking forward to the next boss, the next area, etc. You made a good thing, be proud!

This has to be one of the most unique games I have heard and played, even though I had it on my xbox gamepass I had decided to buy the game because of how much i liked it, you and your team's hard work has paid off heavily! I'm interested on what projects you will be working on in the future and hopefully with more people. Everyday I create myself a challenge whether its getting every single best kit in the game, lets say melee or ranged or even attack speed, or creating new save files and playing in a different way. I really enjoyed this game so much and I hope in the future you and your team will create maybe a sequel or heck even a way better game (if it's possible considering this game is REALLY good). I'm so darn impressed that you managed to create such an amazing game with such a small team and haven't given up on it! Also the characters, THE CHARACTERS ARE INCREDIBLE THEY ARE SO GOOFY THANK YOU PHOPS. Anyways, I'm really curios on how you created all these amazing aspects of the game, and what game engine you used! If by any chance you are free to respond then please do tell me I would love to know, heck even if chatting is an option I'll take it! (PS. I just found the discord for Archvale and i got my answers, wow GMS2 really is this good)

just wanted to say how much i loved this game when i played it. I remember looking for stuff to play and saw this game, and was like 'wow, this looks pretty cool, let me give it a try', and 10 hours later i was incredibly impressed. I'm an aspiring video game developer myself, and seeing that such amazing games can be made by such small teams makes me confident me and my friends can make it. Archvale is amazing, and I look forward to whatever you have planned next!

I've never done anything even close to the scope of Archvale, but whenever I make a game I get really good at it over the course of development, to the point where it's extremely hard to judge difficulty. Levels start to blend together and it gets hard to know what is and isn't fun. I can't imagine how hard it was working every day for a game you're not happy with. What you've done is a monumental task, and you're an inspiration to many of us hoping to get there one day. Be proud!
@IDoZYT

getting too good at your own game is a huuuge problem that i totally should have mentioned here! i kept thinking things were too easy, so i'd ramp the difficulty up till it was a challenge for me, then be told no-one could beat it whatever it was i was working on! it's a huge technical challenge to not let your own ability at the game influence what you're working on. thank you for watching :)

I think I'm still in the 'go back to the beginnings and rework' dangerous phase, at the same time adding content... And the initial vision, after 5+ years, gets blurry. Biggest "YES! EXACTLY!" moment for me was "developers usually burn at the start of the content phase" and thats so true, I got lots of shelved projects that were shelved right at that point. I hate opening and working on the game that feels like shit, and sometimes I do pass that barrier but there is new phase of content. So far I didnt release any of my games but current one is quite promising cause I have lots of content. Its fun and Iam happy but still, very afraid if I will encounter another anxiety of content phase. And by the way this video is inspiring, very. Few of these videos actually already pushed me to pass that content phase, this one helps too so thanks man. On non developing side of the game, that game looks like MY type of game, I will pick it up.
@IDoZYT

i think it's important to keep in mind when you're thinking "i dont want to do this, im going to start a new project", that you're likely going to hit this exact brickwall again with whatever is next. at the start of a project it's so exciting that you can't ever imagine reaching a point where you don't want to work on it anymore, but it literally *always* happens. if you ever wanna finish anything, you have to get through that miserable part, and generally speaking i think it's a very gratifying experience to actually finish something. you got this! best of luck with your games :)

I had been watching your devlogs for I think around a year or two before the game came out and when I played Archvale I think day 1, it was an extremely great time and I had a blast! I truly could feel the care and polish in every corner of the game. I have been wanting to make video games for a long time now and I have finally found some friends in college this first freshman semester who are significantly more determined and talented on the coding side of things and wanted to make games too(I prefer game design, level design and writing so this is perfect). When I played Archvale, I knew that my dream is possible and can be done, and your devlogs showed me how getting through the tedium of the boring stuff will follow with making fun content. And this video emphasized that and more; it showed the dark side of development and warns of traps in development. Before watching this video, I finally made my first but super short and small concept for a mechanic for a game idea I've had for a while now and this video felt like a blessing to encourage me to continue in this journey, no matter if it ends in a week, or for years to come. Super long comment, sorry about that, but I wanted to share how important your stories of making a game and other's inspires me! I cannot wait for your next project!

I enjoyed following your devlog series back when it was running. And I enjoyed playing Archvale when it was finally released. I like a game I can just pick up and play, and it's fun right from the start.

This is one of my favorite games of all time, an instant classic, I played and finished on gamepass, but I didn't get any achievments due to xbox being bad with achievments, so I bought it on steam and played again. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with in the future, keep up the awesome work!

I got 26.5 hours of fun out of your game, and it was really exciting to play through! I was really new to bullet hell type games and it let me kick off a new genre with an amazing game to start off. I'm excited for the update and what you're planning to make next!

I've downloaded Archvale on Xbox day one. I've practicaly fallen in love with it, the dungeons and even with a generated map it feels so perfectly planned. The art bosses and functions just work together beatiuly! My own game takes a lot of inspiration from Archvale. I hope I can make a game just as uniqe as Archvale.

I have always considered You a great game developer. You see the bigger picture and consider very important things that I don't see other people even thinking about. As someone that struggles with perfectionism himself, things that you mentioned hit close to home. Good luck on Your next project and I hope that You will find fun ways of doing what you're good at

thank you so much, very glad you found some of the stuff here relatable! i was frequently concerned that it was rare to struggle with this stuff, since content is always thought of as the fun side of things. thinking of content is super fun! but actually getting it to work nicely, and feel good, is *really* hard, and super demoralising when it's not as good as you thought it'd be.

Your brutal honesty is amazing... 'if we didn't have a publisher' kinda heartbreaking, but it's part of it eh and shouldnt be glossed over 😓 thank you so much for sharing, well done again and again for such a good game💚

This was a wonderful video! I always assumed that devs dealt with this sorta thing, where they'd get burned out from working on one project and it would be hard for them to look at it objectively, but I never saw someone talk about it in such an objective manner, this was great! And I'm really happy that yall got it out the door and it WAS a success. That's just great. Looking foward to those followups you mentioned! I haven't checked up on this game in a while (and also didn't get it when it came out, oops), but when I saw its state after release... I was VERY impressed! And I still am! The game jsut generally looks great. Also I'm a fan of that mushroom castle. Very fun area concept wise

I stopped the video at the 3 minute mark. You convinced me you have a good understanding of what a solid game should have and do. I purchased Archvale yesterday, got my first Arch piece, and had to turn in for work. This morning it's been all i could think about doing

I feel like if people complain about your game being short, it has good reason- the game is good and they'd like more. It's a kind of a good problem to have, but the problem is people tend to leave negative reviews easily. Maybe it didn't meet what they expected length-wise, but if they were able to get through it, I think it's kind of a better problem to have than other problems (the positive side of it). Glad that archvale blew up the way it did. I hopped on a livestream a couple of times back when you were developing it. It's exhillirating to see my youtuber gamedevs have success in launching their games. And yours was like one of the best and most polished (and quite frankly one of the most gorgeous) and also one of the most celebrated (I remember a twitch streamer a friend) saying it was super fun. I think it's one of the better roguelikes out there. And I hope this makes your day. Was wondering what happened after you launched the game, but it's a nice surprise to find a new devlog
