Thank you so much for this. I just got rejected by EPIK and I thought I would have to look into other countries which I don't want to teach in, but knowing there are options is great. Thank you for the tip that I need to have my documents ready first. I am waiting for my PCC, SAQA verification letter then DIRCO both and I am also only completing my PGCE end of this year and waiting for my SACE renewal. So with a lot pending, your advice makes sense that no business would take me on but I will definitely be a great potential with all those things done.

So informative!!! This will help so many people!! For those looking to go through Talk, please note this program has been cancelled. You now only have EPIK (EPIK no longer has their little babies 😂) to apply to the government public School 😋

It’s not compulsory to have it,you are just more likely to be considered with a TEFL certificate. If you are in possession of a BEd you don’t have to do it.

A PCC is a Police Clearance Certificate.

Thank you so much for this. I've been trying to decided between EPIK and Gone2Korea. The reason I don't really wanna go with Epik is because I can't choose which city I will go to and I don't wanna be in a foreign country away from my friends so is Gone2Korea good?? Or should I take chances with Epik??

Hey,I’m not sure if I understand well. I think what you are asking is if you should go with EPIK (public schools) or private school (hagwons)? I believe Gone2Korea is a recruitment agency recruiting for hagwons. It honestly depends what you value more. The ability of being able to choose your preferred location,with most probably a higher salary,but also more work & very little vacation days. (hagwon) Or a more relaxed work environment with less salary and more vacation days.(EPIK)

You can quit the job if you do not like it, just make sure that it is clearly stated in your contract what happens when you resign.

Is it advisable to use Afiswitch for finger prints since it’s way quicker than SAPS?

Yes you can still apply for private academies/hagwons.

Evening, my original degree certificate is laminated. do they require a laminated certificate at dirco or chinese embasy? there are rumours that they do not need a laminated certificate. please assist.

That shouldn’t be a problem,you only need to send a scan to SAQA for verification

Hello pretty lady. I have a question. Say you signed a 12 month contract. What happens when it's over. Do you pack your bags and go back to SA? Are there any opportunities to find another job there? Or even in another country. If yes, do you have to go through the same process regarding documentation, can you complete this process in another country or does it have to be in your country of birth?

Hey hun,so usually before the end of your contract your school would ask you if you would like to stay again for one more year..if you choose not to stay,you can look for a different school to sponsor your visa at the end of your 1 year contract. Or you can prepare documents for your move to a different country,for this you don’t have to be in your home country.

Private schools tend to pay a higher salary but public schools are a safer option for a first time teacher.
