Hello, Since making this video I have made a new video talking about "midspawns". If you are still wondering about how those close-core spawns happen defintely watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UThezypQ3Ts.html
A very good guide, thanks. Though i think if you had a script (and a breath blocker on the mic) it would be a lot more professional. The content was great, the delivery could use another attempt. Though i take good information over perfect delivery every day
Hey and thank you so much for the guide! Can you confirm whether CCP didn't massage the creation process after your video? Meaning the algorithms for creating the minigames have been drastically changed?
I've seen tons of videos talking about exploration, but this one is definitely the most in-depth. I've been exploring for months and I never realized a lot of these things, thank you so much for this info
As an analyst by trade, this was a quality video. I main exploration on my primary character and have been giving out advice to corp members on how to get through the hacking game based on my experience. This is going to push my ability to the next level and give the newcomers a fighting edge, great content.
Geez. Initially I thought to myself, "I am not going to watch a 30 minute video on hacking". I have a swing and whoa! Crazy good video. Stayed on point too. No puff puff wasting words and time. All good info organized in an almost college life lesson plan.
I swear ive had an exit node spawn right next to my starting node, at least less than 8 nodes. But now after watching this video I will keep an eye out for such a thing and provide a screenshot if I am able to replicate it. Thank you for this video
o7 I know I’m a few years late, but I still wanted to say thank you for this breakdown. I was losing about half of the cans because I just didn’t understand the logic of the game and I’m so paranoid in WH space that I was rushing too fast to learn. Since I watched this breakdown a few times I’ve gone from losing half the cans to rarely losing any of them and I absolutely love the minigame now. Thank you again, you’ve made me a very happy explorer!
Absolutely superb! More people, who are serious about hacking, need to see this. I really enjoy watching people take something apart and detail their findings. Nice work!
Good guide and first video. Keep them coming. I spend the bulk of my time doing exploration and hacking sites. I’ll watch for your 8 and 6 rules and see how I do. I’m running Asteros and a Stratios most of the time and I’m always searching for sleeper cache sites, hopefully this will help clear the mini game faster.
I have only had about 4 hacking minigames (out of many hundreds) where the core was next to the spawn. It is extremely rare and surprising. The 8 node rule of thumb is spot-on, though! Your percentages of tools and defense spawns from white nodes "feels" about right too. However, I have really leaned away from opening white nodes unless I'm desperate, because it "feels" more like 75% of the time it is a defense node. Also, if I am desperate, I am probably about to fail the hack anyway, so it is unlikely I will find anything useful regardless.
Hi, I'm well. I've found that whilst I enjoyed doing the analysis, coming up with theories and reverse engineering the minigame, I did not enjoy the process of writing a script, recording and editing (I really hated editing). On top of that my laptop got stolen at one point, which contained all my slides and raw video footage.
Yeap.....this IS the type of video i was looking for. I dont want people to explain what hacking is or fits while speaking slowly as if im mentally challenged. Get to the point, gimme the meat and potatoes. This video gave me some dessert as well.
Just relax, be at ease like at a campfire with friends, then just be yourself... selves that are not our self are what interest most people in a producer, NOT a fake video persona, those are fine for meme and fart joke videos. Content most people want to see long term, has a real person in it, who makes us feel like they are relatable and friendly. You have that I think, you just need to calm down and let it out. Thanks for the explanation, I have watched 16 tutorials before this one... this is by far the most confident I have felt in my hack understanding.
I'm brand new to EvE and have taken up exploration almost exclusively. This guide was incredibly helpful to me. I can only imagine the amount of time and effort that went in to producing this. Both my time to hack and success rate immediately and considerably increased thanks to this, so thank you!
I think I've found 1-connection empty nodes. They are reasonably rare though, and I didn't have the data to support that they are truly different from 3-connection nodes.
Hi, you've reminded me how inteligent eve players may be. This is a awesome video. Is there any chance that you could compile all the charts and ilustrations and post it somwhere? It's hard to scroll throu the video while hacking in 0.0 and there is a lot to remember about.
26:00 Take the least amount of "unsafe" nodes ! By coming from the right we go trough 2 unsafe nodes before being protected by the rule of six, but going to the left of the screen will get you 3 unsafe nodes before being protected by the rule of six.
Interesting vid. I do most of my hacking in occupied null or wormholes with a cloaky astero so there isn't time for looking at numbers or figuring things out, I just thrash through as quickly as I can. I'm fitting a legion for future use and as it doesn't have so many mid slots I got one of those zeugma analyzers at a good price. But then found out the virus coherence isn't as good as the separate data/relic analyzer IIs. I'm cap stable with full rigs but I suppose I could compromise on that, and I could get a poteque implant too. Any other suggestions as to how I could boost my legion's hacking capability?
Saw this video 2-3 yrs ago and now that i got back to the game adter a 2yr break its a great refresh - (also why no comments allowed on the mid spawn vid?)
good video. very thourough. it was a little hard to follow because it seemed like the mic kept cutting in and out or had some lag to it in detecting your voice? also the rate of u talking kept varying. but this is like everything anyone could ever need to know about this so thank you
Yes, I struggled about how to say this. When I was doing the hacks back in 2016 there were no Alpha clones. I used Archeology/Hacking 4 + 1 rig, later I used level 5 + 0 rigs. Now you can get the same virus health by getting lvl 3 + 2 rigs. My advice would be that you get a 25-90 virus for relic hacking and a 25-70 virus for data hacking. That is, if you're doing pirate sites. Relic sites contain way more loot, so missing a can there will hurt more. In Hisec I'd do it the other way around as in sleeper caches and ghost sites your data-virus is the one that matters most.
i know this is 4 years old now but just came accross it. your talking about before 8 its bait? i've have plenty that were finished before 8 with some cores even being the first node i clicked.
I believe I do so at 07:00! Basically whenever you spawn in the middle of the map the 8-distance rule doesn't work. Instead it's random (as far as I can tell).
Why is it do you think the rule of 6 is a thing? Just that you really haven't seen anything spawn in a node connected to 6 other nodes? I'll need to keep an eye out for this.
Interesting question. Euhm, from a game design perspective it might feel bad to have single defense system block 6 nodes (or 5 since you opened 1 to get there). That would be my best guess. From a more game-mechanical perspective it is clear that connectivity has a lot of influence on the game. 2 examples are given in this video, I also know that when you spawn theres a maximum for 2 connections, and I'm sure that if we will ever "figure out" the minigame we'll find more related to connectivity.
Hi there, Yes you can. You can even create a better English version. Just mention my name somewhere. I have decided that, whilst I love the analysis part, I don´t like video making/editing. So go ahead!
Awesome information and work. Still, you should push the whole sound layer thru some normalizer and then reupload it, the voice ups and downs are barely bearable.
there's also those lower HP firewalls. I tend to break them straight up - opens a lot of map and generally seems to be worth it (unless you hit restoration, suppressor in next 2 hits)
when landing restoration, if there's other defense systems, do NOT hit the wrench as activating it counts as an additional turn (will heal up def systems)
If you calculate the spawn point as the 1st node, then it is before 9 and not 8. That's what the image's showing @ 6:05. I'm nitpicking here. It's a great guide nonetheless. Tyvm, dankjewel!
Lot of information, appreciate the effort. Delivery was rough to listen through though. Ums and uhs really distracting. Just an observation. About to go check the midspawn vid 👍
Man I can see you put a lot of work in here, and the information is empirical and well displayed. But if I hear one more mid-sentencr "Uhhhhhh..." I'm going to excise it from my brain with a fucking shotgun lol. Could I suggest doing these videos with a script and working on reading it in clear sentences? I feel so triggered lol. I genuinely can't finish the video.
