I’m so exhausted from suffering with IC. I’ve been prescribed antibiotics for years to no avail.only Later on they realized I didn’t have any bacteria or infection. And it’s caused by stress or exposure to cold. Writing this in a severe flare up , all by myself in a foreign country surrounded by strangers 😭. Drinking lots of water and camomile tea. I need to find out where I can buy some herbs here that could ease my pain 😭😭😭. It’s so hard that not many people understand What we are going through 🥺. Sending my love and light to all those who are being tortured by this terrible chronic disease.
I feel your pain!! I spent years going thru the same until I finally got a urologist that even came to the possibility of it being ic. People don't understand how inconvenient ans bothersome the pain is, and how annoying it is that little triggers make it worse !

My doctor helped me a lot. First he tried to find the issue. Why i have this problem?. Second he did PLATELET-RICH plasma cell therapy ando botox. He also removed some polyps and mucus from my uretha. Medicine, therapy, and diet for a couple months. I am back to normal now. No back pain, no pelvic pain, no burning urine, i can drink or eat everything now
I have suffered with this for 34 years. I have been on every medication as well as having my bladder stretched which I do not recommended.( Painful & did nothing to help)! This is a life long illness. Find a way to treat your pain & try to live a normal life as best you can. I' have been severe, meaning every 5 to 20 minutes.. sometimes there's no point to leave the bathroom. It's extremely depressing & this issue has robbed me of enjoying life.
@soyyo9704 I myself have been a on keto since 2019.. I lost 120 lbs. ( all my weight) in that first year. Not to mention, I wasn't overweight as a 12 year old when this first began for me. Diet has shown no improvement for me other then looking better. I have no idea why I have this, but I remember the exact date that they began. I wish I knew.. honestly I think I probably have a combination of issues. I know I have a small bladder 1/3 the size of a normal bladder.. and a extremely overactive bladder. Only now that I'm older (46) did I start having different associated pains that I described as electrical shocks.. I am still seeing urologist & now getting a referral to do some kind of treatment with a specialist for people with sexual trauma , even though I haven't had sexual trauma. I will comment on here after I see what that entales of & what effect it had as far as improvement. I'm willing to try whatever method this is. I have nothing to loose in trying.
I was diagnosed with IC in 2002. I suffer everyday from this condition which is chronic for me. I've tried several different medication and had bladder distention several times also. I would get temporary relief for a very brief period every time. Some days it's so bad i feel like I can't deal with this pain anymore and I'm not suicidal when I say that honestly it's just taken over my life for so many years now and nobody really understands this condition not even most doctors and urologists I've seen. I just watched this doctors video and I'm very intrigued by her and her knowledge of IC and that she actually cares and wants to help those who suffer from it get better and finally get some relief. I'm about to visit her website and pray that she might can help me.
I've had symptoms that are similar since April of this year, and I still haven't gotten relief. I saw a urologist and had some tests done. He gave me a medication called Myrbetriq to take and I thought it was helping some but now the symptoms are back. My discomfort seems to be concentrated in the urethra rather than the bladder. I get really down and have thoughts that if I can't get help with this, I can't see living like this and could see myself taking my own life, although I want to live and enjoy life. I'm going to call the urologist again and see if he has any other ideas. This is awful.
@@brendabrock7220 I have the same painful urethra it is awful but I also have been diagnosed with Tarlov Cysts that can mimick IC and UTI's - they are cysts that sit on your spinal cord and press on the nerves that control the rectum/bladdder/urethra etc. Get a MRI of your sacrum and see.
Same here, Allison. Stress mmanagement, meditation, pelvic floor exercises like pilates, desert harvest aloe, and antihistamines help me (like zyrtec…however, one doctor prescribed Atarax for awhile and I never felt so much relief).

I’m 28yrs old and I’ve been suffering with this since I was 18. After so many tests and cystoscopies, the specialists have no treatment recommendations for me. It always gets very bad before my period and sex is almost impossible. The only things that I have found that help for me is taking cranberry/D-Mannose capsules, probiotics daily, slippery elm capsules, not drinking any alcohol, limiting caffeine, being extremely careful to NEVER be dehydrated at any point (always drinking water)
@Jennifer B Hi. I buy capsules, I take one capsule daily. But prior to that I had the loose powder, I used the scoop provided. Also I have recently learnt that slippery Elm is good to heal the bladder... Good luck ☺️
Hi, I just bought this. I have had IC for years. It's a severe case. I self cath myself for years, Hunners Ulcers, 35% of my bladder removed, bladder spasms, very itchy urethra, 27 surgeries, immune to antibiotics, chronic bladder and kidney infections. My dad has flown me out years ago to the Mayo Clinic to see their top urologist. Also had botox and collagen in my bladder. Didn't work long. I am in pain mgmt. I got Hep C from a blood transfusion in the 80s. I have a bleeding disorder called Von Willerbrand. I didn't know I had it until surgery complications. I took Interferon for the Hep C but it made me very sick. The new Hep C medication worked but my liver has cirrhosis with lesions. I have to ask my liver doctor if I can take this. I am happy it's working for you. I hope I will be able to try it. Sending 🤗 to the IC people here. Sorry this is long.
I am a patient at Dr. Christi’s office and have had IC for 11+ years. I started seeing Dr. Christi and PA Shannon Bernbaum a year and a half ago and I’ve been doing much better since. They are so knowledgeable about this condition and presented many options for treatment, including new therapies. It’s the first time I’ve seen improvement and felt hopeful in years.
@@ianpobanz12 Do you live anywhere near Katy, TX where Dr. Christi’s office? IC is an area she specializes in. I’ve never seen a better doctor (the office’s PA Shannon Bernbaum is also amazing). Her knowledge, available options, and emotional support is far better than the three other doctors I’ve seen for IC. I was one of only a few IC patients the other Urologists had and I felt like I was annoying them.
I have not done PRP nor hydrdistension yet because my insurance won’t cover PRP. I am planning to save for it and see what insurance says in a year from now. I have also done physical therapy recommended by Dr. Christi’s office and it is very helpful.
@@ianpobanz12 if I were you I’d try elimination diet very strict eat only food youre 100% sure is safe for a week. Cut out anything citrus, acidic, high histamine, artificial etc.

Hello. You mentioned natural supplements. It would be great if you could tell me (and your other viewers) what those supplements are. I have watched a lot of videos and am really frustrated by the "teasing" that goes on. I have been suffering for over 1.5 years now (though I have had a pre-existing condition of very frequent urination for several decades). My first urologist (back in April 2020) never listened to my specific complaints and treated me like dirt. It took me more than seven months to find out about -- through my own research -- pelvic floor medicine and therapists and pain meds such as lyrica and amitriptyline. Had a cystoscopy which didn't show anything. Also had trigger point injections. Minimally helpful at the time but not too long lasting. Most everything has not been covered by health insurance. It would be quicker and cheaper just to not wake up. I don't live anywhere near Texas. If you can help by naming specific supplements, please do. Otherwise, please, reconsider making videos teasing people with information that may prove very helpful and then not telling them.
Please don't give up. I'm a retired nurse and no doctor helped me. I stopped all wheat, soy & milk. Desert Harvest Aloe Vera helped as well as low oxalate diet. Research the ic diet and that will help you the most.
how are you doing now? Reading the comments will help you-- at least the content creator brought people together to discuss. Thank God for that because the doctor's don't always have time. Everyone in this world is out for themselves basically so make things work for you as much as you can. So many suggestions in the comments that sound helpful. Research for yourself, removing trigger foods and herbal and natural supplements.
@@robin472 -- Thanks for asking. As recommended above, I ordered the Desert Harvest Aloe Vera capsules. I've been on them for more than 2 months. I can't say that they've helped. I have my ups and downs (my up-days are not symptom free, just better than my bad days) and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I am taking Pumpkin Seed Oil which I had come across somewhere in my online searches and today I bought Saw Palmetto capsules which are allegedly helpful for bladder and prostate issues (I am not aware that I have a prostate issue). I stopped going for physical therapy at the end of December because after one year I couldn't tell that it was making any difference. Also at the end of December I had an InterStim implant. This is described as a pacemaker for the bladder. I can't say for sure that it is helping or not because, like I described above, I'm riding a wave with its ups and downs. I notice that walking on the treadmill makes it worse (not that it is great otherwise). I am still on Lyrica and Amitriptyline but have been cutting back on the Lyrica to see what happens. No need to take a drug if it isn't helping or to take more than I need if it is. At first I thought that I was doing worse because I cut back but the last couple of days were a little better. So like I said, I have my ups and downs and I am not clear what part the Lyrica is playing, if anything. It was recommended to me to see a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist but I have not been able to find someone to work with. Nothing is easy. As for my diet, I am a vegetarian and do eat some soy products. I also eat wheat. However, because my son is gluten free I followed that diet for a long time and never noticed any difference. So I don't think the fact that I'm eating wheat again means anything. I do avoid bladder irritants where possible, such as no lemon juice on my salads and no sauce on my pizza. If you have any supplemental recommendations or anything else to offer that may be of help, please let me know. Thanks again. By the way, my doctor described my condition as Urinary Urgency/Frequency and also said he thinks it is neuromuscular because I also had a bad pain/ache (which the Amitriptyline and maybe the Lyrica has helped).
I take 1,000 mg magnesium glycinate, 10,000 mg aloe vera gel caps, 1,350 mg apple cider vinegar gel caps, 1,500 mg D-Mannose, & Prelief as needed. I also take vitamin D3 15,000 IU for my health in general. Several years ago I had a cystoscopy and was diagnosed with severe interstitial cystitis. I don't like taking prescription drugs due to side effects. I try to follow the recommended diet, but it is very restrictive and quite frankly boring. I hope you will try the supplements that I have listed. I still have urgency, frequency, and a bit of pressure and discomfort especially when first sitting down, but I think I'm doing better than I did taking any prescription drugs and better than getting bladder installations. I do not exercise at all. I have tried different forms of exercise, but unfortunately it causes me to have severe flare-ups that last for 3 days.
I am in pain mgmt. I have had IC for years. I self cath myself. My bladder wouldn't empty..Have the ulcers to they have been removed but keep coming back. The spasms are the worst. Had 35 % of my bladder removed. . My urethra is so itchy it drives me crazy I use lidocaine but it's back ordered. . There is a medicine called Gelnique. It's a gel you rub on your stomach. It goes into the bladder to soothe it and it did help me. My insurance cut me off because of how much it cost. .It's a thousand dollars for 30 gel packs. There the size of a glasses cleaner wipe. I get chronic bladder and kidney infections. I am tired of all of this. . I understand the depression. It's hard to try and live a normal life when you have pain. 1 am sorry you have to go through this. . . Sending 🤗.
Hi Bella, I was reading comments hoping I might find something useful, and came across your post. I’m so sorry your IC is so severe. Mine isn’t quite as bad (yet?), but I’ve tried everything under the Sun with little change. I am glad some IC sufferers find relief with one-off solutions, but know these cases are usually milder.
To the women posting who have IC type pain but no answers or results from interventions: My ‘IC’ pain was not IC after all. It was IBD (UC rectal inflammation) and Endo. It can help to get a colonoscopy from a GI and see a minimally invasive GYN (Endo specialist) to explore other possible pain generators.

I'm starting a low oxalate diet and feel tremendous relief already. The ic diet and Desert Harvest Aloe healed my hunners ulcers.I found PTENS, exercises and instillations to be useless.
I agree the 2 things you said we're useless were the same for me. I have a severe case of Interstitial Cystitis. I have to self cath myself., Hunners Ulcers many times. They keep coming back. I have had 35% of my bladder removed, bladder spasms, itchy urethra, many hospital stays for IV meds. Regular antibiotics I have built an immune to. I take injection of Gentamicin when needed. I do it myself.. I am in pain mgmt and on disability. I have chronic bladder and kidney infections. My dad has sent me to some of the best hospitals to see different urologist. I got the same answer. I am going to try that aloe. Glad it has helped you. Good luck with the diet.
My pain is only relieved for a few seconds upon urination. Which is more than 30xs a day. I get weekly bladder installations at my Urogynecologist office. They have brought the pain level from a 9 to a 5 or 6. Only if I go weekly. If I try to wait 2 weeks its unbearable again
@@SUPER_JAVI it calmed down for me a bit after going on a low histamine diet and avoid chocolate ,coffee ,tea, lemons ,drinking only plane water ,I also take d mannose with some probiotics (S boulardi),also make sure to stay warm down there ,never allow to get cold on that area not your feet to be cold

I'm literally sitting in the shower letting the scalding hot water run over my pelvis because the pain is so bad. I was diagnosed a year ago and haven't had relief for more than a day or two since. This condition and the unpredictable pain has ruined my life.
I got this wretched thing 5 yrs ago after I got a severe UTi. I noticed it I got it every single time I ate or drank sour stuff.. like lemon juice, tamarind sauce, any sauces that contained vinegar, sodas etc. I love sour food, but I don’t have it anymore. Also, I wear only cotton underwear and that also helps. I m managing my condition well and don’t have any pain or burning if I stick to my diet and avoid all the triggers. I would be glad if anyone finds any relief with my advice.
@@madelinegarcia4059 personally I have struggled with this for 10 years (i am 28 now) and the only thing I have found that helps me is taking D-Mannose and drinking lots of water. No alcohol, no caffeine, no soda, cut back on sugar and processed food. Take probiotics every day. Good luck. It’s a horrible condition.
I'm suffering at least 4 days a week with the pain, cramping, throbbing, frequency, inability to urinate. I'm on daily meds that has lessened my symptoms. I've currently been awake for 72 hours because I'm making trips to the bathroom every 15min-30min. I'm on a long term antibiotic. If I forget a dose the burning and smell make me physically ill. There's got to be a better way to treat this disorder. I can't imagine living like this for the rest of my life. I barely leave my home. I pick up my meds and do all my household shopping once a month. I can see how people with this condition choose death instead of this constant torture. I'm praying for a cure or at least a med that can treat my symptoms.

Tbh Ic is a living nightmare. It severely limits and affects your quality of life. If I decide I want to go somewhere where I want be near a rest room I'm in trouble. I'm fairly young and I love amusement parks but the lines are lonnnng not to mention being locked in somewhere, when the urgency arises (which is inevitable) I'm in trouble! Long road trips where I'm not driving challenging. Concerts nope, helicopter flight, air balloon ride nope, I used to love flying and sitting by the window, now I'm just ready for it to end asap so there's less chance of having to step past anyone or being embarrassed bc I keep having to go to the rest room. So Basically I can't really enjoy much unless there's a toilet near, very depressing way to live. I drive semi trucks and the training was grueling!!! But ONLY bc of dealing with my bladder, luckily my trainers were patient and understanding 🙏🙏 But just imagine driving a 80k lb semi and having to keep stopping to pee not practical or easy or even always possible, sometimes I have to hold it and it HURTS like Hell, I'm almost screaming in tears. The crazy thing is if I don't drink much I miggghht be ok, but my bladder doesn't like it bc my experience the more concentrated the urine is in the bladder (less diluted) I get that uncomfortable burning sensation BUT when I drink lots of water, it's like my bladder rejects it bc within 5 minutes or so I have to pee and i won't stop until my bladder has dispelled all the water, there's no winning here. One thing I've put together is that stress and anxiety amplifies the frequency especially the urgency so bright side trucking isa lot easier... Since I'm well experienced and not fearful of driving anymore I'm less anxious mostly only anxious when I'm rushing with a load lol 😂 I wish there was a cure. I should try prayer and meditation 🧘🏾♀️

I’m so sorry you are going through all of this. I Just started having symptoms and a life saver for me are adult diapers. I literally could not leave my house without them. They are thin and no one really knows if I wear them.
I have pain AFTER I void. But an emergency doctor who was a urologist/gynecologist suggested I take PRELIEF tablets (2 before each meal) and they take the acidity out of food that seems to cause me pain. The Prelief tablets contain calcium glycerosophate . They have been the only thing that has helped me.
We’re are you located?? I have been going through this pain n discomfort for almost 30 years and I can’t take it anymore. The urologist n OBGYN I trusted and understood the pain I was going through both passed away n I real need help.
I was diagnosed with IC and the doctor wanted me on Elmiron medication which can or can’t work and the side effects are extreme but I didn’t take any of it. He said get a second opinion I’ve been trying to for many months now and I have chronic UTIs no help.😭😭😭

Make sure they do a full blown cystoscope while you are under so they can properly diagnose you. That numbing medicine they recommend never did much for my pain relief. The bladder distention didn't do much to help me at all.

@@alicechan4438 You had a cystoscopy too? Did it cause you bladder pain and frequent urination too?? Mine was totally unnecessary. I should have went with my gut, and not done it. It has ruined me, and all I can think about is peeing! I have heard of the Desert Harvest Aloe capsules I actually have them on my Amazon list. I also want to try pumpkin seed oil pills. I've read a lot of good reviews for those too.
I have been taking Elmiron since 2/2000. I spent 7 years in excruciating pain until I was diagnosed with IC. Within 2 weeks of taking it, I was pain free. I have tried hydroxyzine but it caused me to retain my urine. I also use the supplement Bladder Rest. I have been fortunate because Elmiron has not effected my eyes. I cannot be without it.
@@shikhasoni5518 yes, can be a bit of a stabbing pain, but (for me) it is the “urgency”… and almost like a paralysis that you cant hold your bladder. With diet, I have been able to heal.
My doctor thinks I have IC because sometimes my bladder hurts a lot. He wanted me to do a cystoscopy, but I don't think that's really necessary. The way I see it is if I don't have a UTI or cancer I'm alright. For the pain I usually take Tylenol.
I had hemorrhagic cystitis 3 weeks ago. I was given rochephen x1 iv, ceftin for 5 days, cipro for 3. I continue to have symptoms with wbc in urine and epi cells (5) with no bacteria now. It’s only been 3 weeks and I can’t stand this. My doctor says it’s IC. This is hell
I learned i have a inflammation of the bladder after i got a severe pain and had a lot of blood and bacteria suddenly. I had a scar on the wall if the bladder so i think i have had a infection in the bladder wall that erupted and gave me that severe pains. Under medical care and are going to check the bladder again soon. Started anti inflammatory diet as i was not allowed medication for inflammation because of my gastric bypass (got that because doctors told me that was the answer because i was fat, now I learned i have lipedema).
If your “First Line” doesn’t include problem food elimination, you’re nothing more than a quack profiting from your patients’ pain. All citrus, all alcohol, sodas, chocolate, all coffee, all tea, tomatoes and tomato products, Thai food, Mexican food, most spices, anything containing vinegar, mayonnaise, cereals with Vitamin B6, and more problem foods MUST be stopped before any other treatments are started. Often, eliminating these foods is all that is needed to stop the pain.
A drink and maybe stretching and strengthening would be the fix , I think. But first would be knowing WHAT CAUSED IT. To understand what to do to reverse it. I heard nothing about what caused it. Dr?
I just started taking Corn Husk Tea - there is a lot of info on the internet about it because my doctor said there was nothing I could do. Also, Prelief is good but I cannot take it - I get bad headaches

For pain: The azo pain relief pills help me when it is so bad, you shouldn’t take those too often though. Tylenol extra strength helps a lot. Vitamins: d manoose, probiotics, desert aloe I had this years ago and now it returned. It is awful.
Hello this video has been so helpful. I recently had what they thought was a UTI I had antibiotics for 10 days and I’m still suffering 3 weeks on . I have the feeling of needing to wee so frequently it’s really getting me down I feel like I can’t even go on a walk . There’s sometimes infection in my urine and then none the next day so I’m thinking I could possibly have IC . Could this have started from an infection? Xx
Hydrodistention is not an answer. IC is an incurable disease. It's so frustrating that doctors use this as any kind of remedy. It's EXTREMELY painful and made things much worse for me for MONTHS.
@@maryclewley1420 Here are a few things that have worked for me. Aloe Vera gel 5000 mg first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If you can keep your bowels empty and dont get constipated, the pressure seems to agitate my bladder. Now, you can take Ibuprofen up to 1000mg twice a day 8 hours apart with food, I use Motrin. If you have stomach issues you may not be able to tolerate such a high dose. As an RN in Labor and Delivery for many years the theraputic dose after delivery was 600mg, in other cases for pain management I have seen doc's reccommend the higer dose instead of narcotics. Also if you have bleeding conditions then you also must be very careful with Ibuprofen. I'm going to assume many doc's will say it's too high of a dose but it has helped me. Also, you can use Acetaminophen 2 extra strength, 1000mg every 4-6 hours along with the use of Ibuprofen. Push water as much as you can. I'm going to get alkaline water and see. Heating pad, hot baths, practice calmness and pray to God for help. I am not a doctor! This is what has worked for me. I am just suggesting what worked for me- disclaimer. All that Emma said was also excellent suggestions. I personally do not want any invasive treatment at this time, that must be your own choice with the advice of your doctor. Make sure you find a doc who is in the know about IC, thats so important. I am 66 and not sexually active at this time thankfully. I know how hard it is to be younger and have to deal with this issue, it can be very tough on a relationship or marriage. No one knows how painful this condition is unless you have it. So hopefully your partner is compassionate. After I went through menopause my uterus was much smaller and I never had any issues with IC until now as I am tapering off of long term use of benzodiazepines. Now the IC is flaring and so is a condition that is called Burning Mouth Syndrome , it is as miserable as IC. I would never reccomend anyone to use benzo's bc they are a nightmare of their own and you don't want to get hooked on them. I recall as a young girl being brought to a nutcase urologist who proceeded to dialate my ureters with long metal rods, it was torture, not to mention he made my Mom leave the room??? This leads me to belive I must have been complainging to my Mom about urination discomfort, I just dont recall. My daughter, age 12, has just had a cystoscopy. Doctor said she has a 10% chance of having ic. She advised that if she has no pain after the cystoscopy it’s cause for worry. My daughter just had this surgery 3 days ago and has no pain. Does this mean she has ic?
I have it and my dr is not listening to me I did the biopsy and it came back. I do have mild so far. I don’t know how long I’ve had it. I think it started when I was pregnant with my son or daughter. I don’t remember, but it did come back and he put me on a psychiatric medication I can’t do psychiatric medication. I don’t even see how that is supposed to fix that.

My GYN Dr have me taking Sodium Bicarbonate one tablet every day but I don’t feel is been helping much I’m still getting the pains specially overnights

@@WREATHSfloralsDIYS I'm sorry. I struggle with it too. I've cut out any alcohol, coffee, soda, caffeine, tomato-based products, or nearly all fruit as these are high in acidity and I drink alkaline water, nothing else. I try to do all the right things and everyday is urinating razor blades.
I have ic disease When it starts giving me trouble I pee every ten minutes, then my bladder will quit working and I have to be put on a catheter , until I can pee on my own.
Nothing my urologist did for my IC helped at all. I found a holistic doctor who studied a research where you cath the patient with lidocaine, B12 and then ozone. How many times this needs to be done is relevant to each patient, but in the research after 6 consecutive treatments the patients were totally healed of IC. Only 6.4% of patients had to come back for any extended treatment. I had 8 treatments because I had suffered with IC for 20 years. 20 years of being mostly homebound with pain and I tried all the treatments you mentioned. This simple inexpensive treatment needs to be made available for ALL IC patients. Please look it up and give people hope for a cure from this insidious disease.

Same story here...Try this calcium glycerophosphate....and I heard this helps.. L arginine ...and if you can , only drink water and nothing else ...try to eat as healthy as you can I know its difficult..stay away from any acidic foods and drinks...doctors are no help at all and mostly make you worse...do your own research

my mom has non-cancerous lesions of the bladder and they did a fulgeration. This took my mom out of pain for over a year. Now I can't find anyone who will do it and she is 82 and in massive pain. I'm getting very angy at these doctors. They are just out to make money for big pharma. D Mannous is also very hard to find. You would think as common as bladder issues are, the drug stores would carry this. Nation of suffering. No wonder people are getting hooked on fetanyl. They are looking for just average pain meds for their pain but the hospitals label everyone an addict so people elsewhere and getting into trouble.

@@melinda7425 some things I have found out is that diet and what you drink affects it alot. I found that only drinking water and being on a strict healthy diet has a big effect . Acupuncture can help . I feel like researching what foods to stay away from for this condition can benefit you greatly. In my opinion being vegan would would be the best route and would make things drastically change. It's very hard to do but I believe that's a great option.

I have been taking it for the past 6 months. I would say it's miracle supplement, But it doesn't suit everyone. Please follow diet food for few days and then try this medication to decide whether it's working for you or not.
