I grew up in Oakland not far from Oracle (though we locals call it simply, "The Coliseum"). As a black kid growing up in the majority black and low-income (but hardworking) neighborhood around Oracle, we didn't always have a lot of positive things to look forward to. But even on my worst days in elementary school, I remember I could see those concrete diamonds on the exterior of Oracle from the playground. It was something about it that always made me excited despite my bleak surroundings and always made me proud to be from Oakland. My homies and I would always ask our parents for money to go to the Warriors games, and even when they sucked we would cheer from the upper deck as loud as we could, hoping to catch a free shirt from one of those shirt blasters that the old mascot "Thunder" used to shoot from the court during timeouts and halftime. We were real Oakland people, and even tho they never called themselves the "Oakland" Warriors, they were always our team. Oakland will not be the same once they leave, and honestly, they will not be the same once they leave Oakland. This is the end of an era. But us REAL fans will always have the memories, and will always be sentimental when we pass by the arena when driving on 880.

As a Warrior fan I’m happy to be able to live in the Bay Area and root on my home town team. I grew up passing by Oracle Arena and never got a chance to go to a game. I was just thankful to feel the energy of the Arena every time I passed by

Can we just enjoy the fact that the Warriors have been relevant these past few years? I know they get a bad wrap for having bandwagon fans but doesn’t every good team does? Many people don’t know BD, Big Al, Monta, Jamison, and The Captain. But now they have something to pass down to the next generation of Warriors fans in the future.

Being a Warriors fan since the Run TMC days, back in 97-98' my friend Shareef introduce me to Sadiki Fuller (R.I.P.) who was at the time the mascot Thunder, he invited us many times to the Warriors Training Facility to play some pickup games of basketball, which is only a few blocks away from i use to lived on MLK/10th at the time, from there the first NBA players i met up close was Donyell Marshall and Mugsy Bogues. Sadiki gave us like 10 free tickets and very first game i've been to which was called back in the days ''The Arena in Oakland'' we just called it the ''Oakland Arena'' and it was against the Seattle Supersonics to also watch a Oakland basketball legend Gary Payton who was playing, i don't remember what was the score but i do remember that the Supersonics kicked our @ss that game, and the Warriors record that season were very bad... but they were good memories of the days of old that can be never taken.
