Bobby was a true southerner. However his biggest flaw as a coach was that he actually cared alot about his players (players coach). His style is missed.

I love how everyone loves to berate warrick for what happened. He has turned out to be a great person and i believe it is because of the mercy shown to him by coach Bowden. These are 18-20 year old kids…bet if it was a player on your team you wold feel differently.

Totally off subject, but the 2013 team is underrated. Media hated Jameis. And they got destroyed the next year. This team was special though!

I will never forget the time I walked in coach Bowden's house in Calorne Tallahassee as a highschool kid heading to my south Florida state championship game WEARING A FL GATORS SHIRT!Lola Ms.Bowden stopped at the door and said "nope you can't come in with that shirt on lol". I grabbed my jacket ASAP and zipped it lol

Miami,Florida we all have National Championships but in the history of football the BEST Athlete's to ever play the game came from FLORIDA STATE and that is DEION "PRIME TIME" SANDERS and PETER WARRICK no school has ever had this kind of TALENT on their roster and to think it wasn't going to stop there had one RANDY MOSS not been put off the team I don't think there would have ever been a better receiving choir better from 98' to 2001 imagine PW (P'DUB),RANDY MOSS,L COLES,RON DUGANS and SNOOP MINIS !!!!! Definitely wouldn't have been able to stop these RECEIVERS P E R I O D.

This team set the standard alright, FSU won't see it again for some time.

Last time a WR even sniffed the heisman. You have to play QB or RB now to even be considered. They should rename it the best QB / RB trophy! Because it rarely goes to the best player anymore.

I always felt having Weinke was a cheap move. Its like having a college QB playing vs JV players. He had 10 years on everyone else. Its like me at 18 playing against 10 year olds. Its an unfair advantage

Good team; 2001 canes were so much better

Uh...I know FSU fans love this, but the 99 fsu team was far from the best team in history. The ACC was still a very weak conference in 99, no conference championship to deal with and they had a weak schedule overall. They BARELY escaped a 6-6 Clemson, beat Florida by 7 and Georgia by 6. Yes, a win is a win, but far from dominant. Even in the national championship game, without that crazy long TD pass to warrick, they woulda won by 10. But even with it, a 17 point win is far from the most dominant national championship performance. I'd put several squads above the 99 Seminoles. The 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers puts the Seminoles to shame. They also went undefeated, also played the #2 team in the country for the national championship, and 3 of their final 6 games were against top 10 teams. They won those games by 24, 23 and 38 points. They put on a clinic in the national championship game against Florida that made the #2 team in the Nation look like a practice squad. The game was over by halftime when it was 35-10. The 1999 Seminoles probably weren't even as good as the 1997Cornhuskers, who also went undefeated.

Bobby Bowden was one of the greatest College Head Coaches ever. Keep in mind he coached in an era that sported the mighty Miami Hurricanes of the 80's and 90's, Oklahoma, Nebraska (yes they were a powerhouse back then), Penn State, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, amongst many other awesome programs. Bowden had his ups and downs through the years, but FSU was ALWAYS in the mix of being one of the top teams in the nation every single season. I grew up not far from Florida Gator country and let me tell you. Gator fans hated FSU, but they had mad respect for coach Bowden, as did most other programs and fans. Those were great times to be college football fan, and I am so happy I got to be a part of it

Bobby didn't just talk he looked out for his players he tried to make them better men more then anything, I would let my son play for coach Bowden no doubt about it .
