Gotta love making rounds... One of my most favorite past-times.... I'm just starting out and have used titegroup powder and it's called for 9-9.7 grains between 240-200g bullets... I did notice it is a dirty powder though... I wonder what the $ difference is compared to 2400.... Nice vid!
ZZRgirl11, that is the problem with revolvers, they are just filthy animals, I love'm. 2400 is a great all around powder for power loads on the 44 Magnum. If you want a hotter performing round you will have to use the H110. 2400 is a full case load, it is very clean for the amount of powder but does get smokey too. To clean your weapon I highly recommend Deatons or better yet Militec-1, cuts right through the carbon.
ShutTheFrontDoor, thank you for my safety concerns, however I do not smoke. The only thing that lighter is used for is to light my propane torch when I aneal rifle brass or uses the torch to light the charcoal in the charcoal chimney so I do not have to taste lighter fluid when I BBQ. Its no more dangerous to have it laying their than powder & primers together.
hmmm my Hornady Handbook shows that powder/bullet combination only going around 1200 fps. Of course that's in a 7.5 inch barrel. You didn't state what you were shooting it in.
bthurber3, you know you are close to being right, that is why I said in the video to consult your own loading data. I noted 1440 fps, its more like 1386 fps. I should have had my manual open to that page instead of using my memory which isn't so good due to medical problems I have. I am using Modern Reloading 2nd edition manual. Believe me, manuals do vary from each other, it is important to consult your own manuals and become consistent with them or you will have varying loads. Thank you
survivaleveryday, I am using a slower burning powder for magnum loads. 2400 burns slower than Unique. I suggest you consult the reloading data from your manual, you will probably notice that there are separate reloading data for Hornady XTP bullets. If you want truly safe Magnum loads, I suggest Unique or Hercules 2400
I addressed that before but I will do so again. I do not smoke, I use it to light my torch when I’m annealing brass. The bench is cleaned off when I do it. Thank you for my safety concerns.
