Longshot is a great powder, I find 30 grains in any combo of hull and wad with anything from 1oz slugs to 1 &1/4 shot to as much buckshot as it will hold works great.
Wade, every time I watch one of your buckshot loading vid's I learn something. I have some of those Rio's. Now I know what to do with them! Great series. 👍👍
Kind of a side note on those Rio shells... I've had nothing but great results with their shotshells. I got a hold of a bunch of their 2-3/4 steel shot loads and hunted with them all season and they shot great... They also load up really well.
Same thing here my reloading room is in the attic and it gets hot so what do when using the fan is use the manual mode I put the cover on then push dispense keeping it on slow and it does pretty good with some over charge not bad I do like my hornady and it works great so far with my powders I have enjoy 👍
I had a ton of over charges running on normal or fast speed for the Hornady lock and load utilizing Longshot powder. Once I slowed it down to slow mode and stop Receiving over charges prior to that it was every three or four I’d get an overcharge on normal.
Thanks again bud, just got some long shot & ordered clear hulls & a whole mess of lead from ballistic products... really appreciate what you do bud, bless ya & stay safe 👊!
Hi Wade, Excellent video on the MG42 and Longshot powder!!! I really enjoy your videos!!! I find the videos to be informative and interesting and very useful. Wade yourvmy favorite shotgun channel!!! Have a blessed!!!
I run the Intelli dropper and I like it. It has a feature to calibrate the powder delivery. Then an auto mode as well as manual. And of course, Bluetooth software so you can save load data.
29 grains I swear my bottle said 34 and 37 gr I almost tore off my trigger finger I’m going to lighten the load to 29 see if works to little powder I was getting unburnt powder so maybe 29 is better glad I watched your video
Exelente este señor.a pesar d estar en venezuela y no contar con las herramientas y el material adecuado.gracias a el e mejorado muchisimo mis tiros con escopeta en la caza mayor..saludos desde venezuela.seguidor numero 1
Off your suggestion i picked up some longshot to make some mag defense loads with and will start with your 29 grains of LS and go from there. Im shooting a Turkish 12gauge magnum escort 3in.
LOL! You bet! The squirrels need some thinning out for sure! The reloading components are improving at a rapid rate now. It's amazing what you can accomplish with a shotgun now!!
I got 500 once fired Gun club hulls and a few started rusting after I loaded them. I'm going to let them sit a while so I can sort out the rusty ones. I have since changed to new, Cheddite, clear, primed hulls. The first light range powder scale I got was really susceptible to the slightest wind, even from the whole house central A/C turning on.
Wade can you do a 12ga shotshell reloading for beginners the wads and hull is what I'm struggling with the most and what I'm nit comfortable with yet imma check your channel out for more information
Hey man I can’t find any info online for long shot reloading data I’m trying to load some 6petal twister slugs Weights are around 496-500 grains And 12 pellet #1 buckshot Weight at 496 grains
thanks again for info wade!!!!! looks like Lee buckshot mold is my only choice for now . other option still not up in production for now. wade if any other info on molds come up would be appreciated.!!
Your videos are so packed with good information , that I sometimes pick up upon important snippets the second or third time watching . You mentioned in passing that Longshot , while not very compressible , takes up less volume than the typical Buckshot powder charges of the other usual suspect Buckshot powders . As I am finally getting ready to start loading Buckshot , my focus will be on 12ga 2.75 and 20ga , making efficient use of the hull capacity will be important . In broad rule of thumb , how would you rank the ( amount of hull space required ) for the usual Buckshot powders ? Say Longshot , 800-X, Blue Dot, etc ? I have those on hand now , for that matter Red Dot, Green Dot, Clays, and Universal to try for slower Reduced Recoil loads . I picked up on the MG-42 performing well with lesser constriction , and conventional non Buckshot specific chokes . Even hinted some degree of similarities to performance of Flite Control . I know y'alls primary focus is big game and preditors with specialized full size guns . But the *Other* common usage of Buckshot is Defensive/ Duty . And in those contexts the 20in bbl is the norm , often with fixed cylinder bore non- choke . ( Yeah , that's a poor choice , but it's a vicous circle where most users have them because that's what most mfgs make, in turn because that what most purchasers buy .) Would MG-42 be worthwhile approach for use in cylinder bore ? Any other likely wads to try ? Have you ever done any development for cylinder bore to get them up to " medium range " capabilities for hunting ? I have a couple guns that were chopped to 18-ish inches before they came to me , and several of my associates have the factory 18-20 inch fixed cylinder bbls .
Longshot is 1 of my fav powders simply because it doesn't take up as much space as other mag/slow-burning powders. 800x, and the Blue powders take up about the same amount of space with Steel powder coming in 1st as the powder that takes up the most space in your round. The MG42 is 1 of the most versatile wads that I have ever used! It would be highly effective as a home-defense load option.
I hate that chrono I've had same one for years...always erratic results have to have the sun and shade just right ect...wanting to justify buying a new one it's been grazed with 40, 270, 7mag...damn thing wont die. I got tig wire welding rods holding the shades up lol damm thing wont die but still works just enough...
I was told by hodgdon i cant use longshot for buckshot. Hodgdon told me it was only used for heavy birdshot. So how many grains for a new 2 3/4 fiocchi hull with 9 and 10 pellet 00 buck from hornady
Bubba Rountree Outdoors thanks I'm going to get a benelli ethos for getting good grades and I was going to purchase a kicks choke but I wanted to make sure I didn't blow the choke out of the gun with plated shot
That's awesome! Congratulations on the grades buddy! Benelli is 1 of the best... The Nickel/Copper plating on buckshot is extremely thin! As long you just shoot lead shot... Kicks chokes are guaranteed for like!
Been watching your videos for a while. I don't load shotshells only handguns and rifles. I'm wanting to get into loading shells for only one load in particular. #4 buck or T for coyotes. I can't find a factory load that gives me a reliable 50 yard pattern. 5 or 6 in a 12" circle just don't seem that good. What's your take?
I have long shot powder original buffer cci mag primers mg 42 wads and sp12 wads once fired rem hulls 2 3/4 and 3inch I’m wanting to load 000 buck any info on powder charge and will I have to cut petals off thanks
Good day Mr. Bubba, I have a simple question for you about the reloading of some 00 buck loads. Now I'm fairly new to reloading and because of all the shortage in just about everything these days and trying to find a gun range that allows shotguns without driving 2 to 3 hrs has been a challenge for me to test some of these loads. Anyways I got into a discussion with a guy about wads, I thought that whatever the wad stated like 7/8, 1 1/8, or 1 3/8 you could use whatever lead shot you wanted example if you wanted to use #8 you could, if #4 you could and even 00 buck, you could as long as it wasn't any of them one of the harder metals and as long as you didn't go over that weight. This guy was telling me that that's not correct, that let's say 7/8, 1 1/8, or whatever it may say is for the smaller shot like #6, #8, etc. and those wads can't be used for buckshot. That the wads will say that they are for the buckshot loads, now me being new searched and searched trying to verify what he said and I can't a single thing to back up my case nor can I find anything to back his case. I would appreciate it if you could take the time to clear this up for me, and thanks for the great videos you put out, very informative.
Hey Joel! It's always about your 'Lead payload weight' As long as you're using lead shot or projectiles all you need to know is the weight of the payload. It doesn't matter on what size the shot is: #12 skeet shot or #0000 buckshot, doesn't matter as long as the weight is the same! Wade

Hey Wade, big fan of the videos. Just started reading the comments, I usually just watch the show and don't pay attention to the comments so forgive me if you have already answered this. Im here in South Eastern NC where we also run dogs for deer. My preferred load has been commercial Winchester 3in #1 buck with 24 pellets, how come your loads only hold 18 #1s? thanks in advance
My #1 buck load is a custom load. The factory #1 doesn't have a full-length wad and they stack 8 rows of 4. My custom loads have 6 rows of 3 pellets! The factory #1 will only get out at 1000 fps and I can get over 1200 fps with my lighter pay-load! Wade
Thanks Wade, I get it now. Im gonna work some up for this season, all my loads will be #1's or #4's. I'm going to load some like factory with the gas seal and fiber wad and then some more with the MG-42 that i just ordered. Thanks for the info.
It's not how many pellets you launch , it's how many hit the target that matters . So a lighter payload that patterns tighter could actually be more effective downrange .
How high can you load sr4756 .can you go past 39 grains for a 1 1/4 ounce slug .I want to push a Diablo style slug as fast as I can without going over 11500 psi .I'm using a fiocchi 3 inch hull and a wad that fits that slug perfectly
i've never used the 4756 in a slug load. Head over to the Buck and Slug reloaders page on FB and ask those guys: facebook.com/groups/buckandslugreloaders
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors thank you for want you do and the heads up.I was given 3 1lb cans .And don't want it to go to waste .It's a good ,hard to get powder now Was going to load some 38 specials in hbwc for target . .Just finding load data is harder now especially since it was discontinued .
I'm working on a 16 ga buckshot video now Mark! It's been tough to find 16 ga components! I've been working on some combos with what I have. Hopefully I can get her posted sooner than later. Wade
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Awesome !!! I found your site and have been watching all the loading and your Dog hunts vidioes I can find ! Love the sound of the hounds ringing in the woods !!! 🦌
