Wow. 410 load in a 12 gage hull. That should be easy on the shoulder and fly really fast.

why dont you just buy 28g or 7/8 oz wads? I just bought the rex 24 wad and L078 lightning off ballistic products. hoping they work well.. your reloader is one I've the best quality I've seen. what is it?

click settings and bump the speed up. I went to 1.25 but faster is probably necessary.

What powder charge are you using and what kind of velocity are you getting? I would like to get a 1/2 once loaf going around 800 FPS.

Roger: what happened when you shot these? Was it indeed less recoil? Thanks.
@roger_revo
@roger_revo 4 года назад
Yes, less weight in the shot cup and the same powder gives less recoil. You might try Claybusters 3/4 ounce wad.
@robertdawson6043
@robertdawson6043 4 года назад
Why don't you use a one ounce wad and reduce the powder charge. Save you a whole bunch of steps.
@roger_revo
@roger_revo 4 года назад
I would have to put card wads on top of the powder to take up space because of the reduced powder charge.
@robertdawson6043
@robertdawson6043 4 года назад
No you wouldn't. I do it all the time and the shells are great. Depending on what payload you want, use the pink or the green clay buster wads.
@markg3947
@markg3947 10 лет назад
Are you using the standard amount of powder?
@roger_revo
@roger_revo 10 лет назад
Yes. I am using a load from the Claybuster's web site for the 3/4 ounce 12 gauge wad. I am reducing the weight of shot and replacing it with card wads. The rest of the load is used as shown on the Claybuster's web site.

RogerRevo Ok thanks. I am going to order some of the 3/4 ounce wads.

Yes, this ( and the 1/2 oz 20 ga) will certainly reduce recoil . BUT the other issue you will run into is that 1/2 oz of shot is a really small pellet count . There is a point of needing to have enough pellets to have a usable pattern for anything beyond just shooting a tin can at close range just to say you fired a shotgun . It's probably worthwhile to address Both factors involving recoil , shot weight, And Velocity . For a 12ga , 3/4oz is already a light shot charge , to reduce recoil further , try dropping the velocity to 900- 1000fps . It will take a little more experementing with a bulkier/ slower powder to give proper column heights , but the result will be a very low recoil , buy still usable for normal usage loads . And ultra light loads probably won't cycle a semiauto shotgun , but that's probably so for the 1/2 oz also.

Do you have any of these very low velocity loads or know of a reference? I don’t use an auto, but I still want a good clean burn.
