I found your channel through RU-vid shorts and subscribed almost instantly. I've been watching your entire backlog of videos, and I have loved every second. There's something about your calm demeanor and your respectful nature when handling these creatures that makes me soak in a lot more information than I would otherwise. Your passion really stands out, and it's incredibly captivating to watch.

They must have read World War Z.... I've often wondered about the sub aculear tubercle, especially in the Diplocentridae family (including Nebo, I believe they have been transferred to Scorpionidae after a revision? I may have made that up though..) My theory being that the "tooth" is used a pivot to prevent damaging the telson or it getting stuck.
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy Год назад
I'm not so satisfied with the mating theory either. If you look at the last several seconds of this video, you can see one of the scorpions sting another in the mating group. The affected scorpion fully recovered within less than 10 minutes. Mating or not, these scorpions seem like they would have quite a difficult time accidentally killing one another.

The heavier granulation on some of the carapace, tergites and metasoma segments.
@GeneralApathy

@@darrendrake3737 Quite a subtle characteristic. Granulation is more variable than proportions and, in this case, these Centruroides do not have the shorter fingers of C. edwardsii.
